How to unlock the Hammer Smashed Face achievement in Infernax - Definitive Guide

Here's a guide, but for a written guide:
1. Go to the far left side of Valeshire after unlocking the ability to smash bricks in a boss battle.
2. Go into the house behind the bricks.
3. Talk to the lady, agree to handle the problem in her basement.
4. Fight the mini-boss. Beating it will unlock the ability.
- He has three attacks: Falling ceiling, big fire ball, small barrage of fire balls.
- Hit the small and big fire balls back at the exposed eyeball.
- One is high, one is low. So his the attack back either low or high, accordingly.
- Be patient, and continue to dodge the falling ceiling/fire balls.

There’s a much easier way to fight this boss that I did on accident. Jump as far into the spike pit as you can. Then jump onto the ledge the boss is on. You can quickly take out the bottom eye, then you just need to jump and hit the top eye a few times. I forgot about the ability to hit back items, so I tried this and it worked.

Just got this skill unlocked yet the achievement didn't unlock. Anyone else run into this? Figure I have a couple more playthrough to go for the various endings so hope this isn't glitched
Edit: and of course within a minute TA shows it unlocked. Weirdly my console is still not registering it. I have noticed none of Infernax's achievements actually fire the achievement popup
