How to unlock the A Real Contender achievement in Injustice 2 - Definitive Guide
Pro tip: you can go into a Player match, find an opponent, and quit out at the fighter select screen and it will count as a match played. If you don't care about wins, this can get you to 200 fairly quickly.
Looks like this also works with ranked matches, which are faster to find. Thanks to SergeantRocky91 for the tip.

I think they patched this or I'm doing something wrong! Crap.

Unfortunately, there don't seem to be any settings to make matches this go faster. At least you don't have to win to progress this one.
Start with getting & done as they may take 200 or more matches anyway. Once you have them unlocked, you can work on your remaining matches using one of these methods:
Quickest: Private match with a friend that's willing to beat you up fast to level his characters, so that new matches happen quickly.
Easiest: Private match with a friend, idle, and let the timer run out.
Either way, you'll still have to click at the end of every match, so you can't walk away completely.
NOTE: If you notice that the achievement has stopped progressing, use this workaround from The SCHWARTZ 00:
What I had to do was:
1. Quit the game from the dashboard
2. Go offline in settings
3. Restart the game
4. Connect back to XBL while at the main menu
I then played a match after it reconnected and it counted.

Yeah I've played a lot of private matches and it's still on 6% i dont think private matches count

Private matches definitely count, as long as its online that's all that matters. I've played several ranked and player matches *non private* and my tracker isn't moving at all the last 24 hours.

I might have found the issue, the match count resets itself after a certain time I have 59% stopped playing for a month, and then it reset to 3 matches played so I have to do all 118 matches again plus the ones I'm missing I think that's what it's wrong with the achievement.
If you are starting going for this do it in one sitting if you have progress and it stopped you, unfortunately, seem to have to do all matches again non-stop.
This is not 100% confirm and it might be just my case.
Edit: my matches are just counting in the rooms again I have to do it all again but private matches seem to bug the achievement so I will recommend doing this on a room.

(Online)
You may think this could be a long grind, but in fact it isn’t, for this trophy every online mode counts, ranked matches, king of the hill and versus, so, it’s preferable you work with all those trophies first and leave this one at the end, assuming you’re done with all of them you will find you just need a few of them. Keep boosting the rest needed with a partner to unlock it in no time. You can check your progress here: Main Menu, Online, Hero Card and move with and to see your own stats.
Win or lose, just play 200 matches.

If you don’t mind losing your rate, go into any type of online battle, and as soon as you find an opponent and you get to the character selection screen, we exit. They count the defeat, but + 1 fight in the box. This is the fastest way to forget 200 games.

In fact, this is not so much (not even enough) - if you and a friend boost the Don't Stop Me Now trophy for 100 games already, King of the Hill modes - at least 15 more games, ranked matches - at least 10 more. All you have to do is play a little and that's it . And most likely you will get it in the process of completing other network trophies

At the end of November 2022, the trophy is glitchy. Battle statistics are not saved. Turned off the game, the counter was reset. Must be done in one game session. If you get into a fight with a friend in a multiplayer game and keep trying to win, constantly choosing revenge, the trophy will take about 4+ hours. And even in this version, the trophy can become glitchy. My partner got it exactly on the 200th battle, and I got it on the 205th.
