How to unlock the Grizzled Angler achievement in Inscryption - Definitive Guide
Patience is key to winning this battle!
During the first phase of the battle the angler is going to try to hook your cards, which means he's going to pull your last played card over to his side. This means when if he's about to pull a card, play a squirrel or some other card that deals zero damage in front of one of his damage dealers. He'll pull in the weak creature and prevent one of his damage dealers from hitting you. Also, don't worry about filling up all the empty slots with your damage dealers unless they have flying; you'll see why in phase 2.
For phase two the angler puts up buckets in front of all your cards. If you kill the bucket it is replaced by a devastating shark card, which can be overwhelming. As long as you have flyers you'll just attack the angler directly and the buckets won't ever turn into sharks and you'll slowly win the game.

The Angler is the second boss you will battle in Act I. He brings two mechanics that can prove to test your skill and ability to stay alive in this game. If you have not lost your first candle flame yet for any boss fight, your opponent will take it out and give you a The Smoke card that has no cost, zero Power, 1 Health and will award four bones when attacked or sacrificed. When you win a boss battle, both candles are relit regardless if you started the fight with one or both.
Round one will start like most battles with The Angler starting his attack with Kingfishers (1 Power, 1 Health, Waterborne and Airborne Sigils) and other aquatic fauna, but soon after your first play is made, he will reach his hook out above one of your cards. The best defense to this threat is to always leave one slot open (or plan for your first line attack to give up one of your slots) because The Angler will always take "Fresher Fish." Lay down a squirrel or something that wins the round to avoid him turning one of your cards against you.
Going into the second round, The Angler will drop a Chum Bucket in front of any card you have in play. As soon as you hit any of these Chum Bucket cards, they will turn into Great Whites (4 Power, 2 Health) so either avoid the bait and attack open slots for direct damage, or hit the Great Whites with 2 or more hits.
If you can make it past The Angler's Hook and mighty aquatic onslaught, you will win the boss battle and get this trophy.
After your first win against The Angler, you will be given The Angler's Hook at the start of your next run of Act I. This can be used to steal any card from your opponent. This action can only be done once like all backpack items, but may show as an item later for your pack if you are lucky enough to get it twice in a run. See Role Reversal for more info on how to use this on The Angler.
