How to unlock the Essence Capture achievement in Inscryption - Definitive Guide

Much like Act II, you will be sequistered to the right side of the map until you defeat one of the two bosses (The Archivist and The Photographer). The Photographer is located in the top right corner to resemble the forest areas of the Temple of Beasts, Leshy's domain in Act II.

At the beginning of the battle, you will place your cards (most likely just one Empty Vessel) and be introduced to the camera mechanic. You will want to take a picture of your opening move by hitting cross.png in the camera screen. Next, the boss will send a full wave of cards. All five of them will be Shutterbugs (1 Power, ! Health, Touch of Death  and Sentry  Sigil). This is why you want to make sure you record your opening move, because if you don't, the battle is likely not going to go your way.

Protect as best you can in your second turn and then The Photographer will follow up with the Shutterbug line attacking.  The next moment will bring up the camera screen again. You will want to reload your picture from earlier with triangle.png. This will remove the line of Shutterbugs and allow you to make another attack on the now empty row of slots in front of you. It is suggested that you use some of the items you have on the right side of the board (your backpack area in Act I) to play more cards or strengthen the cards you have in order to make a stronger attack. You will be one point away from losing the battle, so use what you have to change that.

Once you make your next play, you will be able to capture your setup again. Do so and The Photographer will send another attack your way, but this will likely not be as threatening. Go back and forth reloading your set up as needed until you have won Round One.

Round Two will be more of the same, except the round will begin with a row of trees in the middle of the board. Keep on the attack, capture and reload as needed, and you should finish the boss battle without getting too overexposed.
