To unlock this achievement you must not hit the destroyer and its crew in the mission entitled "Lost Destroyer" which is the 8th mission. This achievement can be unlocked during any difficulty but I highly recommend this on Easy.
This achievement is pretty much a given. Just avoid hitting the largest ship, avoid it and don't shoot at it. there are two ships in this mission, the smaller one is NOT the destroyer. You can tell further more by the YELLOW markers, that would be the destroyer.
Below is my guide on how to beat this level (it was written for the hardest difficulty but still works just fine for easy mode):

Mission 8: Lost Destroyer

Recommended Power Distribution: Life Support (up on the d-pad) the whole level.
TAKE YOUR TIME ON THIS MISSION. Use the mountains as cover, use rocks, buildings, and anything else you can see. I won this level the first time by just being SLOW. The enemies are strong and come in forces. Their weapon reach is long and are accurate. Watch out for the mortars while your healing behind something.
You will have to take out four bases. You will need to take out everything that is orange to defeat a base and what it seemed like to me, reinforcements come often so you have to work quickly. Watch out for the subs and the big ship (the smaller one inside the base is not an issue) while doing this, they fire about 10 billion missiles at you at once if they see you. If you take your time you can get away with very little reboot loses. I am going to say if you lose 2 reboots during the course of taking out these four bases you will be fine. If you lose 3 your still okay but you just have to be careful on the final boss.
The final boss is a sub that seems to have a semi-auto missile firing gun with lasers. You can't take this thing head on so fly to the top of the valley and land on the ground. Your going to hover up shoot a few repulors and then shoot your missile (y button) and then land. Once your missile is read to use repeat the process. If you need to heal just land do so. The sub will go under and go to another location (there are only two locations so once you learn them you can fly over and beat him to it) so follow him and do the same thing (fire, cover, heal, repeat).

The Destroyer will be sitting in a wide-open area in the middle of a frozen lake. You'll be able to easily tell it apart from the enemies, because it will target yellow on your weapons system. Look for the Controller Device located near the middle of the Destroyer ship and take it out, but make sure not to fire any errant shots at the yellow targets. If you do, restart the mission.
Then, after you have cleared out all of the bases, you'll have to fight the submarine boss, which is actually quite easy if you follow this method. It will constantly appear to the left and right of the Destroyer Ship, so stay in hover and keep your distance, aim your reticle over the sub's main target (orange) and wait for the missiles to start flying your way. When they do, tap B and send them flying back. You can grab and toss back every single missile launched at you, but there is a specific rhythm and timing to the button presses. If you miss a few, you should be fine if you recover quickly enough, but if you start to run low on health, begin dodging until it submerges again. Keep moving from the left side to the right side, hitting it with its own missiles, until it goes under for good.
