How to unlock the Quantity AND quality achievement in Iron Sky: Invasion - Definitive Guide

This achievement can be a pain to get. Purely because I found a glitch where I finished chapter 2 with the starting ship and I could no longer select the ship to use or upgrade even though it was visible on my screen.

So, if you are past this point in the game just finish the lame story to to destroy the ipod powered nazi ship. Reload chapter 2 using the starting ship and collect as much salvage as you can. Make sure to finish chapter 2 in the Korean fighter. Then continue as normal to upgrade this ship.

In short, finish chapter 2 in the Korean fighter.

The achievement itself to unlock is not glitchy, it's the game that is a glitchy mess.

*Glitch warning* - There appears to be a glitch on all formats of the game where the Xerg (the Korean light fighter) will not be available for you to swap to, and therefore you won’t be able to access it to upgrade it. There are reports that the way to avoid the glitch is to finish mission 2 while still using the Xerg. If you are glitched, I believe the only way to get round it is to reload Chapter 2 (or a point in the game where the Xerg is still docked at the Korean space station) and play the game from there.

The earliest you can unlock this is at the end of Chapter 3 - after you have used the Canadarm, you will be notified that the Xerg has acquired the cluster missiles from that ship. Now that this last weapon has been added, you can upgrade them all, if you have the funds. The total cost of all the upgrades, taking into account the 20% ISS discount, is just under $3.5 million.

You get the money for upgrades for selling the salvage that you have collected. Tips for making sure you maximize your money efficiently:

  • Only sell salvage if it is worth $10,000 a piece at your chosen space station. Always press ‘sell all’ and the value will go down a little - it will rise again over a short time. Sell it whenever you want in the game, it doesn’t matter.
  • Only upgrade at the ISS, and only after you have completed US side mission 2 - you will be given a 20% discount during this mission which makes a lot of difference.
  • Speaking of side missions, make sure you do them before you attempt any salvage farming. The final Indian mission for example will give you $1 million, which is a lot of money in this game.
