So really simple way I got this was by killing Flay after I recruited him. You will run into a situation where poachers are being hunted and will get a mission from "Hyena" to find the person, it is Flay and when you find him, you can recruit him.
I had him in one of my groups and I just went back to the poacher camp (C5), I went up to "Hyena" and you can give Flay up or tell him that Flay works for you now. Giving him up automatically turns Flay against your other mercs, I shot and killed him and achievement popped. Then got 10K from Hyena.
I actually then reloaded from sector enter and did the other option, was able to actually get 5K and kept Flay. He's not great, but he is free. Either way, real easy way to get cheevo.
