How to unlock the Old Game Alliance achievement in Journey to the Savage Planet - Definitive Guide
Hello Everyone,
Old Game Minus is basically no different than the original game except for a few changes:
First, you only start with 3 lives (shared if in co-op). Fortunately, an extra life can be found in each area.
Second, a timer shows at the bottom of the screen, but this does not affect anything and is really only for speedruns.
Third, when you complete the game or die your save is immediately deleted.
Lastly, you MUST defeat Teratomo to complete this mode, simply getting the five fuel canisters is not enough.
Another thing to note is that you cannot change from singleplayer to coop and vice versa due to your save being tied to either-or.
An important thing to note is I did this all by myself with two xbox ones and two controllers. I basically had my wife's account loaded in and had the second person stay in the habitat the entire game. When facing Teratomo, this was the only time I had to have both players together which ulitimately loses you a life right off the bat.
EDIT: You should add that the 2nd player has to enter the final elevator leading to Teramoto. Otherwise the game will softlock and not progress. (Thanks HerrKatzchen)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This game is not difficult by any means, and the 3 boss fights are all relatively easy. For Cragclaw, if you use binding bile he cannot attack you, for the floopsnoot matriarch, just focus on the floopsnoots when they spawn, and for teratomo, just take your time and watch out for the jellywaft primes (only time I ever died during both playthroughs apart from having the second controller idle during this fight).
Here is a speed run for this game that will get you 5 fuel canisters and 28 orange goos to power you up. The only caveat is in the video he just launches back so you will need to finish the game out and defeat Teratomo which adds maybe another 30 minutes to your run. I completed this in under 3 hours easily and is stackable with the "No Refunds" achievement.
And here is the location of the extra lives you can obtain. Although I was never able to get the last one for using the Konami code, but maybe it will work for you. I highly suggest having at least 3-4 lives at all times.
Thanks everyone for viewing this solution. If you would like me to add something, please drop down a comment and I will be happy to add it in.
P.S. these videos are not mine so all credit goes to the video owners.

If anyone needs a co-op partner for this then please contact me. This is the last achievement I need, I’ve already done it solo in this mode so co-op should be easier. We should be able to do it in an hour or two.

MISSABLE
Notes:
MISSABLE
Notes:
- PS+ is required to play online.
- This trophy will only pop if your save is created whilst in the Co-Op menu and is missable because if you lose all of your lives, the game will delete your save as a punishment and force you to restart from scratch.
- If you need help locating someone to play with, then please use the stickied Boosting thread: LINK
The only difference between the Solo and Co-Op versions of Old School Minus, is that the lives are shared between both players so it's in both of your best interests to stay alive and not do anything stupid which will cause you to lose a life.
Tips:
Here are some Co-Op specific tips to go along with the ones I've listed for Old Game Master:-
Tips:
Here are some Co-Op specific tips to go along with the ones I've listed for Old Game Master:-
-
Communicate with each other: The fastest way to lose a life whilst in Co-Op, is to do something risky without warning your partner first, so talk to each other and sort your tactics out beforehand.
-
Ensure the host is the one with the best connection: Since this game uses Peer-To-Peer servers instead of dedicated ones, make sure the host is the player with the best connection so you don't lag and rubber band all over the place.
- Ignore the main game trophies if you haven't already got them: If you haven't already got the , then don't risk going for any of the main game trophies whilst attempting this one. This is because there are a lot of trophies in the main list that have you doing dangerous things and even call for you to hurt yourself on purpose, which in turn will cause you to lose one of your precious lives so ignore them and focus on the job at hand.
Exploit:
Even though the trophy description says "Tolerate another person long enough to beat Old Game Minus entirely in coop", you can cheat it and only have to do the final 10mins of the story in Co-Op:
1: Enter the Cooperative Menu and choose to start a new game in a new slot.
2: Once the intro cutscene has finished and you have control of your character, save and quit.
3: Now enter the Single Player menu but when the save file selection screen appears, choose the one you just made in Co-Op mode.
4: Play the game as you would for Old Game Master and progress the story to the point you have to enter the Tower after powering it up, then save, quit, close the game and backup your save so you have a fail safe in case of accidents.
5: Enter the Cooperative Menu and load your save, then invite your friend and go kill Teratomo. Once Teratomo is dead and you have collected the Planet Seed, return to the Javelin then press on the Command Console and launch the ship into orbit. The trophy will pop the moment you sit in the Captain's Chair but after the final stats screen appears, the game will end and your save will be deleted.
