How to unlock the Do-you-think-he-saurus? achievement in Jurassic World Evolution 2 - Definitive Guide

For those who prefer a written solution, here it is!

To unlock the California Photography challenge, you will have had to have unlocked 2 Stars on any of the other challenges (cumulative).

Start up the California Photography challenge on easy difficulty. Your aim is to photograph 20 unique dinosaur species and they are marked on your compass. There are 2 'boundaries' that will be blocked until you photograph a certain number of species (7 and 17) and these will open automatically once you reach the target. There is also a monetary target ($750,000 made from photos) but this is inconsequential and will come as you gather 20 unique species pics.

The dinosaurs will roam and may be slightly out of position so refer to your compass, which will clearly mark species you have and haven't photographed. There are more than the 20 species required on easy difficulty, so you have plenty of leeway. You may get ahead of the tally below as your camera has excellent range and you'll sometimes pick up dinosaurs in the background.

The controls should be at the bottom of the screen but to bring up the camera press cn_right.

You'll be put in control of a Ranger Jeep. There is no map and you cannot leave the jeep, hence my questionable artistic skills have come to the fore. laugh Click on it to open a clearer image.
California Photo

  • Whilst still inside the Facility, turn right and follow the path to a side gate.
  • Along the cutting outside you'll find Coelophysis and Stygimoloch. (2/20)
  • Continue along the path. When it opens up, you should see some Chasmosaurus. (3/20)
  • Continue up to find a path. This leads to a swampy area with a Baryonyx and some Compsognathus. (5/20)
  • The path beyond is blocked, so go back the way you came.
  • Once you get back to the open area, stay below the narrow strip of trees to find some Muttaburrasaurus (directly opposite the Response Facility). (6/20)
  • Continue in this direction, diagonally across the open area. Directly to the left of the Response Facilty you'll find an inlet. Drive in a find some Cearadactylus. (7/20)
  • Drive out and continue up to find a cutting to the left. This leads to another open area where you'll find some Apatosaurus and Gallimimus. (9/20)
  • Continue across the area to find some Deinonychus and Carcharodontosaurus. (11/20) The Carcharodontosaurus may be outside the accessible area and can sometimes go missing. It's okay to skip them.
  • Head back the way you came and about half way across the area there is a cutting leading up.
  • Veer left and look to the left side. There is a swampy inlet here with some Tepejara. (12/20)
  • Continue on to spot some Brachiosaurus, Triceratops and Maiasara. (15/20)
  • Cross the area, sticking to the left. You'll come across a large group of Homalocephale. (16/20)
  • Head up, continuing around the forest-line. In the corner you'll find some Maaradactylus and an Allosaurus. (18/20)
  • This part of the map is a bit clustered, with copses of forest and small ponds scattered around. Roughly follow the boundary as it loops back to the way you came.
  • In amongst the forest you'll find some Proceratosaurus. Use the compass to find them if need be. (19/20)
  • Continue on and you should find a lone Iguanodon. Again, use the compass to find it. (20/20)
  • If the Carcharodontosaurus didn't show up for you, continue in this direction. If you push up you will come across the Spinosaurus on the way to several other species. If you continue down a little, you should come across some Qianzhousaurus. Refer to the map and use your compass.
There are more dinosaurs on the map, but as soon as you photograph your 20th species the challenge will end and you will unlock this achievement.

Here is a video of one of my successful runs if anyone is struggling with this. The dinos can sometimes be tucked in the corners or in vegetation making them hard to spot.

This is a super easy challenge. Basically you have to take pictures of 20 species of dinos, while also making sure they accumulate to 750k or more in revenue. The caviote is that this challenge is timed so just put It on easy and you'll have a full 30 mins to do it.

They're all pretty simple as the groupings are marked on your map and they grey out when you have taken one of that species already.

Also the most tricky location is the raptors as they are in a separate paddock behind and to the right from where you spawn.
