How to unlock the Jurassic measures achievement in Jurassic World Evolution - Definitive Guide

A few tips on how to make your Jurassic play thru easier.

************ As of patch 1.6 more islands were added to challenge mode, i would recommend doing this on isla Matancerros or Muerta as those have the lowest requirements to reach 5 stars.*******************

1. You do not need to complete this below par time. It does not matter how long you take as long as you eventually reach 5 stars.

2. Save Often. It is very easy to fail in Jurassic, save every 30 min or so. In case you mess up, its better to go back than to start from zero.

3. The Hammond foundation fees are really punishing. Your income will be very low and increase slowly. In order to counter this. you can do a few things

a) Sell Fossils from Dig sites. Dig every time you can.
b) There is a lot of free time so every once in a while use your ranger teams to take photographs for the extra money.
c) Contracts are important Try to focus on completing them as best you can and raise the bar for each one as best you can(This way you can avoid sabotages from low ranking divisions). You will need to research and build each one of the divisions buildings as that will generate extra income. If you have extra cash feel free to terminate any contract that is stalling you.
d) be efficient and organize you pens to house more than one species of dinosaur at the same time.
e) Except for your first few dinosaurs. Research the Genome to 100% before incubating them for higher ratings and higher incubation success. Failed hatches can seriously waste a lot of time and money.
f) Try to economize as best you can.
- I only ran 2 Hammond labs and would transport the dinosaurs to their pens as they hatched. Hammond Labs not in use would be turned off. To save Power.
- Use Reduced upkeep cost upgrades in power stations.
-Once you can research the reduce research price upgrade. GET IT. a research center maxed with these reduce research costs by 50%.
- Micromanage your stores, never have more personel than you really need, otherwise it will affect your profits.

4. Have the best fences you can afford and double layer them on pens with carnivores. Especially Raptors. Dinosaur escapes on this difficulty can be catastrophic to your economy and may cause you to get the game over screen. (any escape that involves more than 5 dinosaurs, especially carnivores. Its best just to reload to your previous save.)

5. Try researching available Diseases as soon as you can. And keep around 100K available to treat outbreaks. In this difficulty. Dinosaurs get sick a lot and diseases spread fast. An untreated disease can destroy your park. Put Treating diseases as your TOP Priority in this play thru. If you get a disease drop everything else and try to get rid of it.

6. Storms are very common. be prepared. If your pens break. Try to build a new fence around the Broken area just to close out the gap before the dinosaurs run out. Its a lot faster than sending a ranger.
Also storms are not "scripted" If you get a storm that wrecks your park and releases too many dinosaurs. Just reload the save and next time the storm will spawn on a different spot and take a different route. You can keep doing this until you get one that does not do too much damage. Another thing i did, if i could not get a storm that didint break everything i would settle with one that started close to my ranger station and would jump on the jeep and follow the tornado, manually fixing anything it broke.

Dinosaur Rating.

Regarding the Dinosaurs attempt to get the most species of dinosaurs you can to increase the Variety.

I needed 110 dinosaurs with 34 different species to finally get 5 stars. On the rating menu you will need something between 9500 and 10000 rating to get 5 stars. All my dinos had 100% genome and most of them were modified in at least one trait.

Try whatever combination of dinos works for you, but i didint get great diversity until i had around 30 species.

You should be able to complete this in around 15 Hours. My ingame time was 12:38 Not counting all the time i spent backtracking on saves.
I dont really think i need to talk about Facility rating. But if you are having trouble, leave a comment and i will add that section.

There are a lot of free downvoters around... All my guides gets massively downvoted in first few hours/days and after that the univers come back to normal with a lot of +1 !

Is this really that hard to do? I was going to start hte game but are a bit put off by the "48 winners" of the achievement.

Is this possible on the other islands after the update?

I assume so, i will need to see if someone tries it and confirms it can. If it counts then both the Jurassic challenge and the clocked at 32 mph should be easier to do, as there are easier islands than nublar now.

I did this on Matanceros. I was 2 hours over par at the end, around 10 hours played. Very frustrating with the damn cyclones spawning right on top of my carnivores pens. Other than that, the first 3 stars was insanely boring and slow, 3-4 was quick and 4-5 was another slog.

Its super slow. Most people dont even use carnivores on Jurrassic difficulty. To avoid breakouts. But it just make things more slower.

Any time I got a cyclone I just reloaded my save until I got just a storm. The Stress Inhibitor mod is great for calming the carnivores. I had no break outs. Once the comfort percentage is below 60% they’re fine in storms.

This one took me 14.17 to complete on Matanceros - not including the backtracking. I wasn’t aggressive enough with the expeditions.

Thanks for the info. Back when i tried it. If it was a cyclone i would keep getting cyclones regardless of how many times i loaded. They just spawned on different places and took different routes. There wasnt any of those mods for population, enclosures etc. So now this should be much easier to get. Most of the top players i ve met do this with no carnivores, except the Ceratosaurus. Herbivores all the way.

It was the same for me. No matter how many times I reloaded a game I would still get a cyclone, just in a different place. I even loaded games up that were 10+Min before the cyclone and it would spawn a storm warning with a cyclone like clockwork at the same time like it was scripted.

That’s another set of good changes they made then!

Usually I only ever had to reload once or twice to not get the cyclone if I did get one. It wasn’t every time.

As for the lack of certain mods, wow. With that stress mod I didn’t even need strong fences so saved some money that way. On this difficulty I also used the one for decreasing social needs (also gives more rating) which was very handy so you wouldn’t need to have 3/4/5 of something just to keep them happy. Even though I could have had that amount in the enclosure it was just less stressful knowing I didn’t have to replace a dead dinosaur straight away.

I think contracts are the single most important thing to the point that it would be very worthwhile to save abuse every time you complete one and reload until you get an easy one. If you get stuck with a contract you can't complete in the next 5 minutes, consider how much better it'd be to get one that you CAN complete easily. You can also scumbag the storm coverage contract early on by not building a shelter so it'll give you contracts to get a measly 10% coverage. Then immediately sell the thing for $150,000 one the contract finishes for a net $50 profit every time. As opposed to a $100k net loss.

Also, to respond to some comments above, the trick to safely having carnivores is doing the Dr. Wu expansion and putting lower stress on them. The only reason they freak out more in storms is their lower comfort threshold. They're as easy and safe as herbivores when you get like 20% more comfort threshold to work with. Without that I wouldn't make them either. Too much risk to have a guaranteed break out every single storm. If all your dinos have like 60% comfort threshold rating, then there's not even a big need for better fences as they'll never get mad enough to attack the fence in the first place unless you don't meet their needs.

Nublar. but when this guide was written Nublar was the only island available in Challenge mode. There are much more now. Try Matancerros or any other island labeled as "easy" difficulty by the game. Those have the lowest 5 star requirements.

This difficulty will make you hate the game. I can't stand false difficulty in the terms of the crushing hammond foundation and storms with the tornadoes that just march through every pen even if you are only taking up 10% of the map etc.

I did this on Sanctuary in Jurassic Park era mode in under 7:52 because I figured it would eliminate the worry about sabotage since contracts dont have negative effect on other advisors in this era and simplifies a lot of the buildings, but you need all 21 species, including the Pteradon pen. (PS you cannot stack this with the A New Home Achievement for beating challenge mode on Sanctuary under 8.5 hours. Guess the devs have it flagged to Jurassic World only and never updated the achievement after the last DLC...). But Jurassic Park era does appear usable for the other difficulty and time only achievements. This era also made guest and power buildings a lot easier so I could only focus on dinosaur management even more.

Basically save scrub with alternating files and save scrub all the time. Any BS, reload. If you get a storm, reload from earlier and it wont appear if you reload before the announcement. If you get the second announcement when the icon appears, its too late, you have to listen for the lady on the speaker who talks about updated forecasts or something. If younjust have a windy storm, save then reload after the icon disappears, the dinosaurs forget they were so angry sometimes and might stop attacking fences etc earlier. Before you get any contract, save and reload if you cant do it relatively easily. Things for building a dinosaur you havent unlocked or dont need or will take an hour, skip as these just slow down a valuable spot in your only reliable source of income. For Jurassic Park era at the end I was running the two Malcolm missions for guaranteed money and then whoever I needed to get unlocks for. Malcolm only gives missions for no power outages or carnivous fatalaties and are very common, they just take 10 minutes but do provide reliable and steady income and simplify save scrubbing. You should almost always have the option to select him for a new contract if you dont have 2 of his already.

Like the guide says, if you are not doing anything but waiting for hatchings, take photos. Spam photos, youll need the cash. Big sauropod pens can give $100k a trip in photos even with repeat penalty. Take the same photo 4 times and get paid lol.

Also, monitor the feeder deployment time. The default time is too fast (8 minutes) so all youll be doing is restocking that you cant really afford, or itll be too slow and everyone starts starving once you fill up the pen and you get hit with wellness penalties.

Overall, I would still not recommend Jurassic Park era mode for this achievement otherwise because I had to have all 21 species in pens that were all packed to the max and two full sets of the sauropods maxed to their social meters. I was on the razors edge from hitting a wall around 4 stars where I almost was going to have everything start dying faster than I could replace them instead of keep growing new dinosaurs to get the 9000 dinosaur rating. Because there are fewer species, I lost a source of income from dig sites. Also lacknof the APU helicopter made things slower now that it can do all the work of the jeep. I had all 100% genome but no modifications, the money was just way too tight so I probably wasted a lot of money doing unnecessary research. I had 104 dinosaurs at pop.

This achievement sucks.

Just got it in 5:12 using the other solution posted. Achievement was fairly easy. Left it until last after doing the other DLC's because of how hard people were saying it was and didn't have any problems.

Maybe you should check the comment on the other solution then before being condecending.

My comment on here was intended to put people at ease and give a counter balance to all the people saying it's really hard. Make it less intimidating for anyone approaching doing it.

For someone that had such a problem with my comment you don't seem to have much of a problem being toxic in your own laugh

whats funny is, ive just been doing ian malcolms storm defense contract constantly, and ive saved up 10 million without adding a single dino or attraction. No income, no hammond foundation fee. Im waiting until ive got everything researched that i can, and every fossil at 100%. Ive already filled the entire park with pens just waiting for dinos. Once i have everything researched, and i got the reputation with Dr. Grant, Dr. Sattler, and John Hammond, i plan on shutting power down and then building multiple hotels and shops. Then, I will flip the lights back on and start spitting out dino's.

A tip that helps massively on Jurassic difficulty:

If your park already has a substantial amount of damage then storms will no longer spawn. If you make a square out of fences (around the size of 2 power power plants) far away from all your buildings and then fill it in with a grid and then fill in the diagonals eventually a cyclone will go straight through it as on Jurassic difficulty storms are programmed to go through the most densely built areas. After all the fences are destroyed just leave them there and storms will no longer spawn for the remainder of the playthrough.

Its not "hard" at least for me. But you do need to know your way around the game to get thru challenge mode. This achievement in particular can take you 12-20 hours. And if you dont have a strategy like the one listed above you will probably flip the table. Ive talked with a lot of people who has tried this in order to help them and most dont save their games or cant figure out what they are doing wrong. But Except Challenge mode the rest of the game is SUPER EASY. Probably too easy.

Hit an unpassable wall at 4.5 stars on Nublar after about 16 hours and had to give it up. Dinosaurs were dying at a rate I could not replenish them and I was just not able to get myslef out of the hole

They say you have unlimited time for this achievement but I would say that isn't strictly true based on what happened to me

I started again on Matenceros, built herbivore only park to hit the variety bonus. I put three dig yield upgrades on the expedition team and just saved money. Once I had the variety bonus I was able to hatch out the big carnivores for the rating push up to 5 stars

Absolutely easier than Nublar and if you did it on Nublar, respect for that. This is not my genre of games and I have had to really learn a lot about playing them

I endorse snake42069's idea of stockpiling money, research gains, genomes, and reputation rewards in Park era before hatching any dinosaurs. It took nearly 3 hours with a lot of reloads to get the best Malcolm and Grant contracts while avoiding the others' contracts but it paid huge dividends later. I think I built and bulldozed the storm defense station several dozen times but it's a net $285,000 profit for each instance. I had $11.2 million after building out virtually the entire infrastructure when I started incubating dinosaurs and was never below $4 million for the rest of the game. My first dinosaurs were Baryonyxs because I had already finished Grant's rewards and was about 1/3 done with Sattler's. Total time to 5 stars was 6 hours, 11 minutes with 84 dinos from 19 species for a rating of 5,890. Targets were 18 species and 5,800 score.
I also took the suggestion to build a nested fence tornado trap. It was beautiful to see a twister beeline to it, wreck one section, pivot 90 degrees, wreck another section, and then never have them or even regular storms occur again. None of my carnivores tried to break out even once after that.
I built essentially the same layout on Matanceros in Park era three times, refining as I went, for Clocked at 32 mph, then for Fast for a Biped? and finally for Jurassic measures.

Two big things that help is viewing does not effect score and you only need guest facilities and travel based on how many viewing platforms you have. I'm keeping just 1 viewing platform, restaurant, clothes store, and arcade. With just 1 platform you do not need a monorail at all. I'm on one of the smaller islands, so just 1 hotel. I don't know if you will still need more later on bigger islands. I'm sure capacity is different from the other guest stats. This saves you a ton of money. You can add more for income, but reloading for good contracts gives enough.

I usually reload with the viewing platform contracts later on. Early on you can usually complete them when dinos roam to the front of the pen.

Edit: Finished in 6 hours. One viewing platform was the way to go. I had to staff my facilities with 3 workers near the end, but one of each worked fine.

Gonna back up the others with the method to build up cash. Worked a treat and completed Matanceros in under 5 hours.

Take your time to get the money and genomes all up, focusing on Grant and Malcom contracts. Dont build storm defences until you get the Malcom contract, then delete it straight after so it has the opportunity to pop up again. The fence spiral worked for me for a bit, definitely put some storms off for a little while, but I did end up getting another hurricane. Always save as soon as the storm warning comes happens and reload if the storm messes you up too bad.

I planned out (roughly) my enclosure layout before releasing any dinos and set up the tour. Used the aviary but it was a tight squeeze in the area I had for it, can probably do it without and just get more raptors and Sauropods at the end.

I saved the annoying breakout carnivores till towards the end (Raptors, Spino, T-Rex), but those stegosaurus can be sooo annoying so watch them closely and make sure they're comfortable.

Got it in 5:12 using this solution so thank you for posting. I'll post some minor ammendments I made just from finishing up.

Did it on Isla Mantaceros as the Dinosaur Rating requirement was only 6400 which is pretty small compared to the larger size of the island making it a bit easier to manage space.

The only really challenging part of this achievement is getting through the initial start and turning a profit. You'll begin in the minus so just focus on getting your initial buildings set up and a Struthio out to turn a profit. Save scum your contracts, just save before picking one and load up until you get one you can do really quick and then save again. Things like "Build an emergency shelter for 10% coverage" are easy, build it, complete the contract and then demolish the structure for profit.

I didn't have any of the dinosaur DLC packs, only the 3 related to achievements so I didn't have access to Iguanadon or Crichtonsaurus. So I made my pens a little different after 1 star. Exhibits 1, 4, 5 and 6 all were done the same as the guide suggests.

Exhibit Two - 15

Edmontosaurus x2
Corythosaurus x4
Euoplocephalus x4
Gallimimus x1
Ouranosaurus x3

Exhibit Three - 4

Ankylosaurus x1
Nodosaurus x1
Polacanthus x1
Sauropelta x1

If for some reason you don't have access to the Euoplocephalus you could opt for placing a small or medium Carnivore inside your Sauropod pens too, like 2 Metriacantosaurus as there's still room for 6 more dinosaurs per pen. Diplodocus x8, Brachiosaurus x5 and Camarasaurus x4 is only 17 with the smallest MAX population size of the 3 being 23 for the Camarasaurus leaving space for an extra 6 of something.

I only needed to make TWO large pens for two sets of Sauropods, one have the Diplodocus x8, Brachiosaurus x5 and Camarasaurus x4 in it and the 2nd one had Brachiosaurus x5 and Camarasaurus x4 and the achievement unlocked when I had incubated my 5th and 6th Diplo and popped as the 5th one released. My Facility Rating sat at 4.9 at this point so I just built a 2nd viewing platfrom at my large split starting pen of Exhibits 1-4, reduced all their costs on the 2nd/middle tier selling option until it turn 0 (or the last amount of profit) and the achievement popped.

Two other supplemental guides I used alongside the one posted in this solution were
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=14135... for a visual reference of dinosaurs pen sizes, comfort levels and trees etc and also https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1asbl4934A6JhpCrZvQzU... just for a tabled breakdown of stats mainly for planning out my pens with no access to certain DLC dinosaurs.

Thanks for guide, made this a breeze. Got like, 2 tornados that didn't do anything so it wasn't remotely difficult or stressful for me following this guide. +1 from me.

I hope you can forgive a bit of copy and paste but there’s no sense in typing this out again. And after using this strategy multiple times in succession I can confirm it’s effective.

I used Jurassic Park as the era instead of Jurassic World and used Isla Matanceros.

The thing is, JP has significantly lower requirements on visibility and the number of unique species required since fewer are available. As long as you have the binoculars researched, the dinosaurs will count as “visible” if they’re anywhere near the tour vehicles.

In Park mode you also need substantially fewer facilities, I built a single Tour and put all the paddocks around it. I built extra hotels to ensure the facility rating was 5 stars without issue.

I did end up building more than one of each guest facility, only because the arrival helipad, visitor center and aviary where far enough apart to warrant it.

Also, you ALWAYS want to have two contracts from Dr. Malcolm as his are almost always timed contracts to keep the power on and prevent carnivores eating anyone. And save before accepting any contract from anyone else; you don’t want to end up with contracts you cannot complete quickly when you’re short on cash.

Having the constant income stream from Dr. Malcolm’s contracts will meaning having money to burn to incubate the more expensive dinosaurs and build the best possible tour.

Because there’s no time requirement, so long as you make use of Dr. Malcolm’s contracts you’ll always have extra cash even with the gradually increasing Hammond Foundation fees. Because of this, it’s worth it to invest in having a full genome before adding a new species to the island, as well as using the shark DNA to maximize their life expectancy.

And do yourself a favor, the SECOND you hear about an approaching storm, immediately, WITHOUT HESITATION, send your Rangers to tranq your Raptors and T-Rex. Make sure you have two teams. If you put up electric fences the Dilophosaurus won’t be able to break free, and the Ceratosaurs and Spinosaurus don’t care about a storm enough to rampage easily, same goes for Baryonyx. The time spent trying to chase them down after a storm and fix fences is time and money wasted.

Stegosaurus WILL be your biggest source of drama as they start to panic as soon as there isn’t 5 of them in the herd, and they will tear down fences fast if not kept happy, so always keep 6 of them in a paddock at once. Otherwise you likely won’t be able to release a new one in time before the others lose all comfort and start attacking your fences.

And yes, you only need the one tour. Keep a fence between the tour vehicles and the dinosaurs. The vehicles can see through the wire fences so it will not affect dinosaur visibility.

I ended up not needing every last species since heavily modifying each dinosaur substantially increases their rating reducing the total number needed, but not the required unique species. This results in not needing to mass produce dinosaurs to pad out your score at the end.

Thanks! I got this so easily. JP era Mataceneros. First just digging and contracts. I got lots of money and build my park infrastructure ready. I put also decorations and made the park look nice because i think decorations help little bit with rating. Then I opened the park and started populating it quickly with dinosaurs. First herbivores, then carnivores and apex predators. Achievement popped when i released T-Rex.

I saved quite often and build "Storm spiral" using fences in uninhabited part of the island. It helped a lots.
