How to unlock the Professional Hitman achievement in Just Cause 2 - Definitive Guide

Colonels are located at certain points of the map. There are 50 Colonels in total so you only need to get half of them!

When in a location such as a city, village or military installation, you may notice a military icon flashing up with a name saying "Colonel X". The icon is similar to the one of the base commanders you have no doubt encountered during takeover missions. This will lead you to their location. They will be protected by troops and heavily armoured and hence are nearly immune to normal gunfire.

If you are playing on higher difficulty levels I suggest you approach them by helicopter or armoured car using their firepower to your advantage. Headshots or well placed explosives are the only alternative to my knowledge. Keep in mind that you can not use your grappling hook on them. You can however roadkill them if you are lucky since they seem very agile!

Most of the positions given below are close-by positions I hid while throwing grenades at the Colonel, others will lead you to the general location the Colonel is located in. But they are close enough for you to see the icon and pinpoint them! If you should wonder how to see the coordinates, go to your map by pressing cn_back and look in the top right hand corner. You might need to zoom out in order to see them depending on the map background.

just for the record the names are irrelevant. the colonels appear in order of the colonel list which is in your Map menu. Their locations are what counts, their names are useless.

I do not think so. It has been pointed out by some gamers that the names don't seem to be random. If you have evidence to the contrary then please point it out to me so I can verify it for myself.

When it comes to the achievement then of course the names are useless. But I think it is good to have a mean of distinguishing them since not all coordinates are 100% accurate. It is also easier to remember where you were on the list this way!

My recommendation for taking out Colonels is to use sniper rifles and vantage points whenever possible. This is very easy in the cities, especially the big urban areas in the NW, which have a decent number of Colonels. Purchase a sniper rifle via the black market, and grapple to any location that gives you a clear sight of the Colonels location. Either an adjacent building, higher ground, or even a raised pipe to help clear a fence or something (my friend did this at an airport). One headshot is all it takes, then you can flee quickly and easily before the enemies have a chance to get to you. If the Colonel is on top of a building with his buddies then they have no means to get to you if you're on an adjacent building, so just stay out of sight and you'll be fine.

Hey Gamers Here is My Video Guide that will take you through 25 out of the 50 General's in a specific area where they appear, the guide shows you where to find them and a good point to kill them from. it also shows takes you through the generals that are closest to each other so you don't have to have to go running for miles. Colonels can easily be killed by a single headshot with the sniper rifle (upgrade to level 4 or higher recommended). When you have shot the colonel, get the hell outta there.

They are not marked on map. You need to get close to any of them in order to indicating icon to appear. You may find all the colonels locations turning on Miscellaneous / Colonels at http://jc2map.info/

In certain locations around Panau there will be colonels; there are 50 altogether but you only need to kill 25 for this trophy. As you wonder around Panau you may see what looks like a badge pop up that is black and white and has some white stars on it - this signals that you are near a colonel. There is also a name next to the badge so you know which colonel you are near.

The colonels are more advanced than the normal soldier, they have more health and a very unique body armour. This armour restricts you from shooting them normally and instead requires you to go for headshots or use an explosive. Also be careful when going for the colonels because they are also protected from other soldiers so you may also need to take care of these, otherwise you may die.

Some are located in bases, some are in villages/towns and can be on the floor or on rooftops. If you are struggling to find any of the colonels then please refer to the following thread, this was made courtesy of slaptarze at XBA.org and is used here with his permission.

Colonel Locations

If you need to know which colonels you still need to find then open up your PDA, press and scroll down to 'colonels'. The ones ticked off have already been killed, the ones that haven’t still need to be assassinated.
