How to unlock the Road Trip achievement in Just Cause 2 - Definitive Guide

Easiest and most fun way to get kilometres driven (and stunt points!):

Go to the international airport, call in a car from black market, wait at the beginning of one of the big runways for a 747 to come, tether your car to the plane's nose (might take a couple of tries to get them to stick together), and get in your car.

Get ready for the ride of your life and kilometres driven! Also give you stunt points which contribute towards Stunt Driver achievement.

(Just don't hit B to jump out into stunt position on your car, the tether to the plane will break for some reason)

I take it if your game/console freezes, it's because you have travelled outside of the games boundaries.

My one just froze after being AFK for a few minutes.

Yeah... Well I did this on PC ages ago and I think I must of had something that made the planes fly around the island, not just straight off it... Just tried it on xbox now... Left it running and came back, couldn't even see the island xD
(Wondering if it would count it as a 1000m base jump for those who haven't already got that one as well, as it doesn't count if you jump out of a plane/chopper, but a car?)
I would also advise people putting a waypoint on the airport so you can see how far you have gone!!

If you want to get this achievement collect some money, work towards the Stunt Driver achievement, and complete a race challenge at the same time, try 'The Raya Race' to the east of the main island. I clocked up around 30km and around 75 - 80 stunt driver points during this one race!

You drive through several towns etc as well, so it helps towards the Globetrotter achievement too!

I got both this achievement and "stunt driver" achievement at once. First, go to the biggest city in the game (the one separated by bridges) and either spawn or jack a sports car. Once you got a car, simply get onto a bridge and drive as fast a possible. The bridge makes a GIANT loop so you can keep driving forever.

This is a simple achievement that you must take before you know it, in the game there are some achievements that will accumulate kilometers with cars or motorcycles, one of which is Stunt Driver Points that you can make when traveling at high speed for a while or flying with the car by falling off a cliff, by a ramp or even by accident, the other achievement is to do Challenges in which you must finish a race in a certain time.

The description explains this one easily & you will most likely get this from just playing the game through normally. Any land vehicle counts towards the number of km’s driven (cars, tanks, jeeps, motorcycles etc). When you reach a certain number of km’s you will see a small notice at the top of the screen. Alternatively you can open your PDA, press & go into statistics, you can see how far you have driven in here.

A great deal of this will come while doing missions and land vehicle races. If you're short on this, simply drive around a fast car until you unlock the achievement.

A quick way to get a trophy (although whoever needs it, you’ll get it anyway) is to take any car and drive it along the highway that surrounds the first island. The length of the route is almost 75 kilometers, which will take you 50-60 minutes to travel.
