How to unlock the A challenger appears achievement in Just Die Already - Definitive Guide

The Challenge goals are the purple bucket list items.

There wasn’t a whole lot of information out there on how to complete some of the bucket list tasks, so I thought I would make a list and provide a few tips where I can. I completed the game over a free to play weekend, so I don’t have it anymore. Everything is from memory so I’m sure I will be missing a few things, but hopefully this will help.

A few things to take note of…
-Some of the challenges require a bit of leg work. I will provide a text guide but there are video guides out there for some of the more complex tasks that I’d recommend.
-While everything can be done solo, some tasks are easier with a partner, especially the ones involving the removal of specific limbs. A partner can just shoot them off rather than relying on RNG.
-Some items I will mention were awarded for completing certain bucket list tasks. If you don’t have the item available, check to see if it can be purchased from the blue vending machine, or complete other objectives and try again later.
-The propeller is the easiest way to navigate to higher locations, but in order to get the propeller you have to go to the top of the skyscraper downtown. To get up there you’ll have to use the jetpack (unlocked by going to space) or a fire extinguisher (found around the map, the easiest one is in the bbq shop next to the retirement home).

There are 39 Challenge goals.
Headless Horseman- Hold your head while riding a hobby horse. Easiest done co-op. The horse can be found in the toy store across the street from the retirement home. Just hold it in one hand and your head in the other.

Splat- Take more than 200 damage at once. Should occur naturally, if not try blowing yourself up or falling from a great height.

Probably Just Wine- Bleed a lot. Should come naturally.

Super Bouncy- Bounce on a trampoline 50 times in 30 seconds. Bring a trampoline inside a shop or something with a low ceiling. I used the shop the cable car crashes into when you derail it.

Mark Your Territory- Pee on 5 electrical spots. This has to be 5 different locations. There are 2 exposed outlets in the retirement home, 1 in the convenience store in the docks, and another in the convenience store downtown. The last one I got by peeing on a toaster that spawned in the crypt, but there is probably some other exposed electrical around the town that I didn’t see.

Evil Maniac- Taunt citizens. Just walk up to people and hit the x button.

Cable Guy- Electrify different things. This unlocked when I derailed the cable car. You might be able to run around and zap things with the electric wand as well.

Grill Master- light different things on fire. This kind of just happened to me through normal progression and accidents, but I think there is a flamethrower hidden somewhere that you could use. You can get a flamethrower from the vending machine, but I think you have to make some progress on this challenge before it is available.

Trasher- Knock over trash bins. Not sure how many but just grab the trash cans around town and knock them over.

Cracker- Light 4 different types of fireworks. There is a firework store in the docks area. I just lit everything in the store on fire, lighting all the fireworks. It didn't’ register all of them at once, but next time I launched the game i did it again and it popped. You may also have to light the giant one on top of the store, but I’m not sure (Separate bucket list challenge anyway).

An Arm and A Leg- Unlock all 7 limb loss stations. These are spread out around the map; they are locked gates that require the loss of certain limbs to open. Once opened they will remain open. This is easier to do with a partner, just have your friend shoot off the proper limb- note that there are 2 segments on each arm and leg, some of the puzzles require just one segment to be missing. If you don’t have a co-op partner you will have to use the environment, explosives, praying mantises, crabs etc. to try and get the right limbs removed which is very RNG so I would highly recommend a friend. Here are the locations.
1/2/3. The first 3 are in the building behind the large temple in the Zen Garden. They all lead to the same connected room and have the same limb loss puzzle, but all 3 need to be opened. These also have to be opened for the ball fondler and going to space bucket list items.
4. This one is located on the corner of the main street (where the cars are driving) and the street that leads to the back parking lot near the highway.
5. Also located along the main street, in between the construction site and the bbq shop.
6. Located on the street with the cable car
7. In the very back of the docks. This one can be a little tricky because there is a bouncer nearby that will keep kicking you out.

Korp Fotball- Get kicked by a bouncer as a pelvis. This kind of just happened to me in a moment of chaos, but I think if you are just a pelvis and roll near a bouncer, they should give you a kick.

Shocker- Electrocute 5 NPCs at once. I got this by going to the Zen Garden and hitting the giant gong with the electric hammer (Thor’s hammer) from the toy store. It took a few tries but eventually counted. You could also use the hammer and find a group of 5 people near each other- make sure to hold down the trigger for the full charged effect.

A Real Trapper- Have 10 bear traps attached at the same time. The first thing you want to do is open the gold gate to the hunting shop at the end of the street with the cable car. If you need a key, there is one on the counter in the building across the street (I think it may be a hotel?) Inside the hunting shop are 7 traps, but don’t step on them yet. Go to the Zen garden, there is a guy on his porch surrounded by mines and traps and he will shoot at you for trespassing. Run past him and climb the ladder at the back of his house. Once up there push the fridge off the edge. This will land on the guy and permanently stun him making traversing the area easier. Now go down to the yard and walk across several traps, then run back to the hunting shop and step on those to get 10 attached at the same time.

Birthday Suit- Get naked. Just go into the shower in the retirement home and turn it on.

Baller- Complete 4 pelvic puzzles. There are more than 4 around town, these are the little vents that have caution tape around them and you can only fit in as a pelvis. I’ve seen some people talk about having to solve puzzles as a pelvis, but the 4 I did I just had to enter as a pelvis- no further puzzling. The four I did are pretty close to each other and are located as follows: Right outside the front of the Cove Bar, around the corner from the first one, by the basketball hoops in the corner, and down the hill behind the garbage truck- all are along the street with the cable car.

Royal Challenger- Complete all bucket list challenges. This will obviously be the last one.

Shoot Some Hoops- Make baskets with the basketball (I think 10). The easiest way to do this is related to the achievement for scoring 10 baskets. There is a good video guide in the solution for the achievement. A short summary is you want to drive a forklift up the hill to the basketball court. Get the magnet gun from the tunnel located at one end of the trench filled with mines. Then raise the forklift and stand on the forks- use the magnet gun to maneuver the basketball through the hoop numerous times.

Body Dunker- This is easiest to do with a partner. Go to the basketball court next to the cable car path. Behind one of the hoops is a ledge you can both stand on. Have your partner shoot off all limbs, then hop off the fence and through the basket. I honestly don’t know how one would do it solo.

Top of the World- Reach the top of the 3 tallest skyscrapers. Easy if you have the propeller. If you don’t have it, use the rocket or fire extinguisher to get to the top of the one in the city center, this will give you the propeller. The rocket is unlocked by going to space.

We’re Going on an adventure- Grab a car while holding another character. Can easily be done by grabbing an NPC but might be even easier with a partner.

Off the Rails- Derail the cable car. Use the electric wand from the vending machine. Charge it and let it go while aiming at the cable car. It will speed up and derail at the bottom of the hill.

Vampire Slayer- Kill the vampire. You won’t get this challenge until you get into the second room of the crypt. After that you have to grab a stake from the vending machine and find the vampire, which is located in the very back part of the docks. If you're flying around you might see a room with a big bomb through the window, this is the room with the vampire. If you are walking, go to the very back- this is the part with the limb puzzle and the bouncer. Follow the dock around the corner the opposite way from the bounce. Behind the last building is a staircase. Take that to the second level and go out the window, and into the neighboring window. The person in this room is the vampire, stake them.

Wreck it!- Destroy parked cars. There are numerous cars in the parking lot by the highway. Just destroy them with explosives or any weapon really.

I’ll Be Back- When in the crypt open the coffin marked S. Connor. There's a lot of names to search but I found it in one of the center aisles, not along the outside. This will also give you a bunch of weapons.

Fish Gorger- Eat an even more truly giant fish. These are the 2 massive fishes on the rooftops. Fly up there, grab one and eat it.

Join the Space Program- Make it to space. This is a bit of a longer process so I would recommend using a video guide. Start off by following the steps for the ball fondler bucket list challenge- you need to get all three balls in the correctly colored hole. Once all the balls are set a wall will slide away in that same room revealing some monitors and controls. You now need 2 keys. The first key is inside the giant temple. To get in, blow up the doors by dragging a red barrel to them and shooting it, or by placing one of the large bombs- if you have them available from the vending machine. Once inside grab the key from the back of the Buddha statue and put it in the slot in the room with the balls. The second key is inside the secret room at the top of the temple. Fly up there and blow open the roof with the nearby C4. Inside laying on the ground is the last key. After both keys have been inserted, hit the red button and quickie run outside to the base of the temple. The ground will open up and a rocket will emerge. Grab onto the rocket with both hands before it takes off, then just keep holding on until you make it to space and die from the cold.

Awooooooo!- Equip furry clothes. Inside the secret dojo are several fury outfits. You don’t need to equip them all but you do need to equip a full set.

Sheep Bouncer- Bounce on 3 sheep in 2 seconds. The buddha inside the giant temple in the zen garden is holding 2 purple grenades. These are black hole grenades. They can also be purchased from the blue vending machine, then spawned in the red one. Grab a black hole grenade and throw it near some sheep. It will suck you in and the nearby sheep. While this is happening keep spamming the A button and hopefully you will get it. This will likely take several tries.

Look… A minefield?- Bounce on 10 mines in 10 seconds. Roll into the trench filled with mines. Hit as many as you can-even after you die just keep rolling and hitting mines. It will probably take a few attempts.

Absolute Batter- Hit a ball at the batting range. You need a gold key to unlock the batting cage. Then steal the guy's bat, hit the start button and swing until you hit a pitch.

Olympic Swimmer- Swim across the pool in 10 seconds. Once you have been to space and unlocked the jet pack, drop into the pool and activate the rocket to the other end. Just be sure to let off the throttle before it explodes.

Goaaaal!!- Score a goal. Go to the soccer pitch and just push the ball into one of the nets.

Ring of Fire- Ride a bike through a burning ring. Next to the graveyard is a ring at the end of a ramp. Light it on fire with a flamethrower and find a nearby bike. Simply ride the bike off the ramp.

Gnarly- Jump through the giant ring with a bike. This is the ring over the cable car track- the one with a JDA ticket in its center. Just fly to the roof next to the basketball hoops, there is already a bike and ramp leading to the ring.

Scooter Maniac- Hit 5 people with weapons while riding a scooter. IScooters can be found around the city center or in the garage that opens up near the basketball hoops. Just equip a melee weapon and hit NPCs as you ride around.

Car Flattener- Crush a car with the steamroller. One can be found by the construction site, drive it into the road and over one of the cars.

Ballooner- Attach 100 balloons to people/ objects. Just grab the balloon gun from inside the toy store and go crazy spamming balloons to everything.

I Am the Thunder God- Get the ammer to emit sparks. Grab the hammer from the toy store (Thor’s Hammer), hold down RT until charged and release to slam on the ground.

This will be unlocked at the same time as the achievement for completing all Life Goals as the final Challenge Life Goal is to complete every Life Goal. (It doesn't even appear until you finish everything else)

So don't be alarmed if you haven't unlocked this yet when you (likely) only have the death and limb loss grinds left.

Also, remember that some life goals only show up when you discover areas or a specific item. So, if that final life goal doesn't appear, you must be missing something.
