How to unlock the King of Katamari Damacy achievement in Katamari Damacy REROLL - Definitive Guide
EDIT: Since earning this achievement for both Xbox and Windows, I've amended this guide a bit to strongly suggest using my copy of the spreadsheet over the Steam one as I added my own location notes to some of the items that were otherwise listed as "Basically unmissable", "Refer to Vix's guide" or other such vague and unhelpful descriptions.
My amended copy of the sheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NwlUJL-P6a8SWfYo5rWi...
A good example of the sort of changes I made would be 6th Step, where the original sheet just said "corona, s. pigeon street", and after finding it myself I expanded it to "corona, south s. pigeon street, acting as fencing near the giant turnip". I also removed a bunch of the patronising and unhelpful "Basically unmissable"/ "mostly unmissable but make sure to grab it tho" and other such silly remarks in the "Best Place to Collect" column, so filtering items based on the stage should be cleaner.
As I'm completely done with the game, I won't be elaborating on any more items myself. I have already changed/amended the existing notes on that sheet with my own notes to the items I struggled to find, while I was getting this achievement on both Xbox and Windows (so I think I covered a good chunk of the more missable items in the game). If you want me to elaborate on any items, feel free to leave a comment, but I don't think there should be much left.
Of course if the spreadsheet owner would like to add my descriptions to the main spreadsheet, let me know so I can change this post back to only include the source sheet with mine acting as backup again.
Make a new page on your copy of the sheet, and copy/paste the entire item list there.
With the spreadsheet open, in the game's world selection, walk over to the "Collection" tree, and navigate through to "Locations". Objects in here are categorised by "House", "Town" and "World" which matches the order in the spreadsheet. In your duplicated page, delete any items from the list that you already have collected, keeping the location names for reference (I also suggest adding page numbers for reference if I never get round to it...)
Note that some items have the same name (Bucket, Ladle, Scaffold Support come to mind).
The world record is currently under 5 hours if that's any consolation, and truth be told, with this sheet, it's really not so bad.
What makes this achievement annoying is less the fact that you're finding every single item and more these items being the absolute worst in any game ever; They involve getting to a fairly large size in levels where you need to avoid specific objects, some of which are tiny/you simply don't see.
I had far more trouble with Holy Cow personally; you will rage, scream and shout as you get bounced around by dumb vehicles or other random nonsense into the tiniest milk carton, cow-skinned cone or a random cow that happens to be floating around on a balloon, and if you have anger management issues I wouldn't be surprised if you throw your controller or even the console out the window from sheer frustration whilst having La La La from little children permanently etched into your brain.
And there's absolutely nothing you can do about it but keep trying! So channel all of that pain, anger and suffering into concentration, take breaks if you feel like it's getting too much since getting stressed does no one any good, and try again after a couple of minutes, because you're an achievement hunter and you've unlocked far more ridiculous, grindy, difficult and annoying achievements in the past!
I found that each of these stages had a certain "route" you can take which has you to size up fairly quickly and hopefully make this a little easier.
- For Holy Cow this video (not mine), can show a faster, though IMO more dangerous route than what I would normally do since they rely on rolling up fences that keep cows in, and a few other risky moves. However this video would do a better job describing a good route than my text would ever do, and after a few goes I was able to roughly mimic it pretty well and get to the Holy Cow with 3-4 mins remaining.
- For Kintaro-Bear You want to get the right size quickly, but not get too large as otherwise the bear will run away from you, forcing you to boost and potentially roll into some dumb bear sign or model hidden somewhere. There's also the floaty stuff, including humans that carry bear signs, but overall you should have an easier time than with Holy Cow since you don't have to get so large. The video below shows a good route to take. Start with the tires to the right of you up to the main road and follow the item trail around until you get to the petrol station. Pick up the petrol station machines then pick up the white barricades to the side and follow the item trail a little further - careful as there's two bear statues in the lower part of this route. Once you reach the pink objects leaning against the wall, go through and to the opposite side of the lake to where the playground is and roll up the objects there until you're around 4 meterish. The aim now to get to just below the bear's roll up size (so, let's say around 4m 50cm) and reach to the right hand side of the tunnel that's nearby, by the tea house and wait for the Kintaro-Bear to come towards you clockwise round the road. As it gets near, smack into it. This will cause the bear to pause/wobble. During this time, you want to quickly roll up the nearby trees and green fencing to take you over the 4m 62cm mark, and then roll the bear up. The only thing you need to be careful of is the bears on balloons here, but with a few tries you should be done with this. A much easier and quicker stage than Holy Cow.
If you've manage to get these two items, and you've gone through the rest of the stages like in my list, your total collection will probably be sitting around 95% or more, which means you only have about 70 items left to pick up! So you'll only have around 5 hours left of collecting, and the rest of the items will be EASY to collect compared to that stupid cow.
This video helped me with some of the ones where the spreadsheet was (originally) too vague, in case there's an item I didn't elaborate on or do a good job at explaining. Click the link to view the video's description for the items specifically covered, as there's only a few.
Good luck!

ALL IN ALL unless you decide to do the presents in Play through 1 or 2, you're looking to do around three play throughs total, with a little bit of backtracking at the end. A play through is around 5 hours assuming no retries. The Cow and Bear will probably take you 1-3 hours between them depending on luck/skill, and the last 5% of items is probably another 5 hours tops. So overall not too long/grindy.
GOOD LUCK

How to use the sheet
Make your own copy of the spreadsheet first; you won't be able to make any changes to the sheet linked above.Make a new page on your copy of the sheet, and copy/paste the entire item list there.
With the spreadsheet open, in the game's world selection, walk over to the "Collection" tree, and navigate through to "Locations". Note that some items have the same name (Bucket, Ladle, Scaffold Support come to mind).
The world record is currently under 5 hours if that's any consolation, and truth be told, with this sheet, it's really not so bad.
My Notes;
I'm going to suggest the most stress-free and spreadsheet-free method of doing this;- Play your first play through normally until you beat the final stage.
- After final stage, make the Holy Cow the next thing you get.
- After Holy Cow make the Kintaro Bear the next thing you get.
- After getting those two awful items, play through all stages again, aiming to get as large as you possibly can, to both unlock the three Eternal stages and to hopefully collect most of the items that exclusively spawn on the second playthrough, and perhaps some presents you might have missed on your first playthrough.
- After Playthrough 2, go through all three eternal stages, getting so large that there's next to nothing left to pick up.
- Go through the presents you're missing, and get them done (unlocking the achievement relating to all presents - video below)
- Only then should you make a copy of the spreadsheet and go through your items to see what you've missed.
Holy Cow and Kintaro Bear
Why target the Holy Cow and Kintaro Bear specifically first, you may ask? What makes this achievement annoying is less the fact that you're finding every single item and more these items being the absolute worst in any game ever; They involve getting to a fairly large size in levels where you need to avoid specific objects, some of which are tiny/you simply don't see.

Edit: Thanks to "Vash 1he Stmpde" who posted this in the comments, below is a collection of the item pictures containing all 1438 items in the collection (although there's 1439 files so I'm not sure what happened?), which should hopefully provide a massive help giving a visual to what you're looking for in the above spreadsheet.Vash' link:

WORD OF WARNING
Something that I didn't see mentioned anywhere else is that SOME ITEMS WILL NOT APPEAR AS COLLECTED IN THE LOCATION SCREEN UNTIL YOU COLLECT OTHER ITEMS FIRST. The first time I experienced this was the Crayon Box; I picked it up specifically 2 or 3 times in Eternal 2 at the Sandbox, but it never 'stuck' in my Location Screen. It turns out that the Crayon Box will only appear there if you've collected all of the crayons first. There may be other examples of this! So if you come across another item that you know you've picked up for sure and just not sticking even though you're certain you've picked it up, come back to it later and make it one of the last things you collect (and screw you Namco for implementing such a dumb system).~~~
Original Guide
Below is a link to a list that was linked in this TA forum by XBL:Johnny Sinister, and was created by some hard workers in a Steam community back when the game released on PC (who are all credited in the spreadsheet and the Steam guide). I had nothing to do with any of these guides and only wanted to point people here towards the right direction when trying to go for this ***** of an achievement.https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=17398...
Backup of the Guide Description on the Steam post;
The last achievement in Katamari Damacy REROLL involves picking up one of every item/creature/person/cousin. In order for any pickups to count you have to "successfully" complete a level, that means: getting to the size required for "Make a Star" levels and then quitting, quitting anytime on Eternal levels, or fully finishing constellation levels.
Easiest way to do this is just a google spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13WdWXcJ-UEKn9ZP2S0Q3...
(This first tab emulates the in-game 100% object booklet, so you can line it up and find what you are missing, the second tab is a list for all items you can get level-by-level.)
My recommendation is that you first play through the game normally and simply try your best to grab everything you can notice - then start using this guide to find the few final missing items that are giving you trouble.

Haven't played a Katamari game since the first sequel on PS2. I've just bought myself a Series X, yet it's this game that I'm currently addicted to… well, this and Halo Infinite 🤣

Don't even worry about this trophy until you've finished all of the other trophies. You will fill most of the collection simply by finishing the game. It is in your interest to unlock Eternal in Make a Star 4, 8 and Moon, to help with item cleanup. Note that you can reach these requirements before finishing the game but you won't be able to actually play in Eternal mode until you've finished the game. Eternal allows you to roll as much as you like with no timer, which definitely helps with item collection.
On the home planet, you can look at your collection (the tree) and break down your collection based on in-game location, alphabetical order, object category or object size. Here you can check to see what you're missing.
Note that during the end credits, you can roll your katamari around the Earth and pick up all of the countries. These are not required for the collection or this trophy.
Katamari on the Web has a listing of all collection items based on location here: LINK For the more rare items, they've written more precicely how to find them here: LINK
