How to unlock the Expert Vampirism achievement in Killer Instinct - Definitive Guide

From what I can tell, this cant be done in Practice Mode.

Boot up a match Vs. CPU and set them to Easy. You can choose anyone as an opponent, I personally choose Spinal as he seems to take more damage.

Mira's Health bar will slowly degrade as you damage your opponent and it will have a silver Health Bar underneath it. That's your recoverable damage. If you are attacked by your opponent, you will lose health overall and it will not add to your Recoverable damage, but that shouldn't matter too much.

In order to recover it, you need to use Embrace, which is done by pressing cn_downcn_downleftcn_left+cn_A close to your opponent.

Once you have healed 50%, the achievement will unlock. You won't even need to finish the match.

Enjoy your 10gs

EDIT: As Rat1NaCAG3 has stated, it is possible that you can get this in practice mode.

I was having a little difficulty on a vs. CPU match and found that doing this in a PvP match locally worked wonders. Could be because I'm not great/decent at fighting games, but that might be a good addition to your solution.

I actually had trouble getting it to unlock in PvP. I played three matches of it with no pop. But my first PvCPU it unlocked .

The question i had was the 50% recovered health and whether it had to be restored all at once or just over time. You did not really state that in your solution. But the answer is over time. Just keep attacking until your whole health bar is full silver and then just go ham mashing down to left and A and there you go. Might want to add this to your solution that it is over time and not all at once.

Thanks for the comment Rat1Na. I tried for at least 15 minutes in practice at it just wasnt happening. But I'll update the original with a 'chance' to unlock in Practice, seeing as we're not entirely sure on the details of it.

Thanks again :)

I don't understand in practice your health bars are red. I don't see a silver one

As you attack, Mira's health bar depletes. you may not see the silver one if you have your health set to always full or refill..

A faster way to do this, use the LP+MP+HP (the default button is cn_LB) to use "Mist Form", which will quickly deplete your health without the need of performing a combo.

I used the strategy outlined by ChChChChewy but used HyruleBalverine's strategy to deplete health. Took about 10 seconds. Thanks guys!

My embrace would not grab an idle CPU in practice, so i made the bot jump instead. Worked like a charm. +1

Just unlocked in practice mode, set health to not regen, used Mist Form (LB button) and then Embrace from the right side as that side is easier for me.

I was wondering why this wouldn’t unlock then I realised I picked Maya instead of Mire, Lol

This was frustrating as Mira wouldn’t grab the opponent. I decided to jump toward the character and do the combo mid-air which worked like a charm. The CPU jumping mentioned above wasn’t any easier either

With a bit of testing I was able to unlock this in practice. In practice you need to make sure that "Regenerate Health" is switch to "No" under Practice Options so that Mira's silver/grey health does not regenerate. After these settings are in place all I did was use Blood Seekers cn_downcn_downrightcn_right+cn_X until my grey health was a little bit past half. Then I proceeded to use Embrace cn_downcn_downleftcn_left+cn_A until I regenerated all my health and the achievement popped.

Hope this helps anybody looking to get this achievement easily in practice

For those of you who are still struggling with using the controls listed above. Simple do the following

1. Boot up training
2. Pause the game and press LB twice
3. Set regenerate health to “no”
4. Make sure you also set the opposing character to idle and not attack
5. Unpause the game
6. Simply press you LB so that Mira does a “disappearing act” until your health is in the “danger” box of your health bar
7. Get close to the opposing character
8. Now press cn_down cn_downleft cn_left + cn_A on the D-pad
9. When you have done this get your health back into the danger box by pressing LB again then repeat step 8
10. Repeat again until unlocked.

Mira has the unique ability to recover health with some of her special moves, but only the part of her health bar that turns silver when damaged can be replenished. Go into Practice mode and once in the match, press  and then  to tab over to the Practice Options and turn off Regenerating Health. Now, back in the match, press (Triple Punch by Default) until your health bar is well below 50%, flashing 'Danger' works fine. You will be able to see her silver recoverable health. Now standing near your opponent, input the command for Embrace (+) to regenerate the silver part of your health bar. Keep doing this until you've recovered 50%+ of your silver health bar and the achievement will unlock.

We do the following:
  • From the main menu go to One playerImprovementTraining
  • Select Mira and any enemy
  • Pause (menu button) and select the following settings:
    Workout Settings
    Health regeneration - No
  • First, we reduce our health (by at least half) by pressing LB , then carry out the next attack next to the enemy , , + until Mira recovers enough health
