How to unlock the The Hatchery's Secret achievement in Killer Instinct - Definitive Guide

There was a good solution up for this, no idea why author took it down. So here are the results of my research.

My team: Jago, Riptor, Orchid Supposedly any character can work but I wanted to minimize other quests showing up. NOTE: User Rafael D Arroyo mentioned he had better luck with Glacius, Sadira, and Eyedoll (eyedoll must be unlocked via Shadowlords). YMMV and it may simply be RNG but if you are struggling with my three characters perhaps his three are worth a shot.

Step 1 - Acquire 5 stalker transceivers. You acquire these by doing the Stalker Attack missions in South America. Start up a playthrough and fight through missions until you get to around turn 10 or so. You can 'deploy' or just skip turns with Y, but in my experience the stalkers tended not to show up when the corruption was high. Fighting through every fight (or deploying successfully) to keep corruption low saw them show up around turn 10 or so relatively consistently. When my corruption was high a couple of times they didn't show until around turn 20 or even later. Look for a mission in South America with two Riptors as the enemies (regular, not mimmic). The text of the mission should mention two stalkers terrorizing a village. Complete the fight and choose "agree to help" from the two options after it is over.

Hatchery1

This will spawn two Stalker Attacks quest missions the following turn, again in S.America. Complete both of them, choosing to attack the stalker (top option) pre-fight, and examine the device/examine the corpse (top option) after the fight. Each of these will get you ONE transceiver, for a total of two. After this, just restart the game by creating a new team. Repeat the process to get two more, meaning you have a total of 4. Start a new playthrough once more. Once you get to the Stalker Attacks, you will get your 5th transceiver. This will give you the quest mission to attack the stalker hideout the following turn.

Hatchery3

2. Attack the hideout. DO NOT choose the option to call in an air strike or mortar strike or whatever. That ruins the quest and you will have to get the 5 transceivers again. Choose the top option pre-fight, search the facility. After the fight this first time, make sure to choose the option to search the incubators (NOT the computers yet!). This will get you the Wyvern-X quest item. Here is what the fight looks like on the map screen pre-fight.

Hatchery4

3. Continue playing until you get a fight talking about the rebel alliance. This isnt't necessarily in South America. Mine was in Europe as you can see below. Complete it, and you should get an option to give the Wyvern X to the rebel commander in exchange for the Security Codes quest item.

Hatchery2

4. Repeat step 1 (starting a new game 3 times to grind out 5 stalker transceivers and get the quest/fight back at the stalker hideout again).

5. Attack the hideout once more. Remember to choose Search the facility pre-fight. This time, choose the option to Activate the security console (orange option) after the fight. This option only shows up once you have obtained the security codes by trading the Wyvern-X to the rebel commander. Choosing this option will net you the achievement.

What character were u using? It shouldnt matter tho. U might have chosen to do the mortar strike or whatever pre-fight. If u do that, u wont get the security codes option after the fight.

I got the wyvern x back on turn 15 but no option to give it to a commander after a fight? I made it to turn 35 before I had to fight gargos now on a new playthrough and still no quest relating to rebel alliance.
I'm using jago orchid n riptor

There is no guaranteed way to get the rebel commander to show up. If he doesnt show up by turn 25 or 30 you might want to start a new play through. Make sure you arent spamming A after fights or you might inadvertently skip the encounter. It is VERY easy to miss it.

Sorry about the multiple posts not sure what happened. Anyways can someone give more info on how to get this quest or more info on what it even looks like

The solution states exactly how to get it. There is no 'quest' prior to acquiring the 5 stalker transceivers. It takes 3 playthroughs just to get the 5 transceivers, which then starts the 'quest', although it's still semi-random as far as getting the next step in the chain. I have given all the details that are really possible in order to explain it within this solution.

got it today. great Guide! for me the only thing was that the option to activate the secure console was written in dark-black so i had to look twice to see it. maybe some other of u have/had that and that was the reason for not unlocking it. And the language doesnt matters- there arent so many different choises to make....

Followed the guide to the T, no achievement. I noticed there were TWO options for activating the security console using the same characters you did. I picked the orange one. No achievement. Going to be real fun doing this whole thing again.

The orange "Activate the security console" option is the correct one. The white one says "inspect" not "activate". See the last pic in the solution. If it didnt unlock it may have been an xbox live issue, or a delayed unlock hopefully. Good luck!

That sucks man. This achievement really is ridiculous with its 3 playthrough requirement along with the semi RNG nature of the fights showing up. I hope you get it next go!

Sorry, make that SIX playthrough requirement since you have to get the transceivers twice. So awful! And so glad (hopefully) KI is done for good for me.

@Bsmittel, did you do this on Win 10 or Xbox One? I just hopped on Xbox One today (had primarily been playing Windows 10 at work) and this popped instantly after launching the game clap

Got the stalkers missions to show quite frequently, and even before round 10, by using glacius, sadira and eyedoll (you need to unlock him in shadow lords), great Guide, spot on

Thanks for the update Rafael, glad it is still helping folks with this convoluted-arsed achievement. It may just be down to RNG and you are luckier than most, but I will add that to the solution.

OH NO I DIDN’T HIT SEARCH THE INCUBATORS THE FIRST TIME AM I SCREWED?

By JaggedFire06362 on 20 Apr 2020 03:17
Yep. If you searched the incubators 1st go you lost the 5 transceivers and will have to start over to collect them again AFAIK/IIRC.

What I’m trying to say is did I ruin my chance to get the achievement entirely or if I’ve messed up I can simply do the whole thing again and this remember to choose the “search the incubators” options?
0
0
By JaggedFire06362 on 20 Apr 2020 09:06
You can simply do the whole thing again, but youll have to re-collect the 5 transceivers. Messing up just costs you extra plays. It doesnt permanently ruin the achievement.

What would happen if I don’t get the pop up to give the commandeer the code WYVERN-X on the playthrough of the quest? Do I have the do the whole thing all over again?

By JaggedFire06362 on 20 Apr 2020 18:36
Just keep starting new playthroughs until the commander shows up. AS long as you have the Wyvern X it will show up eventually.

aside from griff straight up admitting to using trainers, this achievement is horrible. so much shit RNG. truly fucking awful I've lost count of my attempts for this.

By TheAaronLad on 23 Dec 2021 22:37
Dunno why anyone would need trainers for this one. The hard part is how ridiculous the requirements are and how many restarts it takes to do. The fights themselves are easy (and I suck at fighting games).

I have the Wyvern X but have never had the mission to give it to the rebel commander even though i went through to turn 35 and completed the raptors by 14. I have played more play through's since and nothing has come up.... any help?

By AgEnT STARZz on 03 Feb 2017 13:42
I would suggest playing with Jago, Orchid, and Riptor. Once you have the wyvern X in your inventory, you should eventually get this fight. I dont recall there being a choice BEFORE the fight, but just watch carefully. If you see anything that resembles a rebel forces encounter, and there is an option pre-fight, chose anything that mentions talking to the rebels, aiding the rebels, or anything similar. I recall having the rebel commander approach me on multiple playthroughs even before I got the Wyvern X, so it shouldnt be an uncommon occurence. Don't skip turns. Fight all fights (or simulate using items to guarantee 100% success) and keep the corruption as low as possible. Sorry I cant be mre helpful.

Solid solution, ass achievement. Once I had the wyvern-x it took multiple playthroughs to cash it in for the codes. Got lucky and got the startup mission on turn 1 soon after, but it took me what felt like 30+ aborted playthroughs to collect the rest of the transceivers, and that's after blowing my first 5 by failing the 3 riptor fight since I was on challenging difficulty :(

Good riddance

!!!ATTENTION!!! Any wrong answer or lost battle can fail you in completing the chain by taking away quest items from you. Therefore, be as careful as possible and follow strictly the instructions below.

1) You need to catch a task in which the enemies are 2 Riptors . This task appears randomly.
In this task you need to choose the following dialogue options:
Before the fight - " Attack "
After the fight - " Agree to help "

If you did everything correctly, you will unlock 2 identical tasks " Stalker Attack (2/3) " on the next turn.

2) In the task “ Attack of stalkers (2/3) ” you must select the following dialogue options:
Before the fight - " Attack the stalker "
After the battle - “ Search the corpse ” or “ Inspect the device ” (task 2, one will require the first answer, the other will require the second).

If you did everything correctly, you will receive a “ Stalker Transmitter ” in the amount of 2 pieces. After this, if you do not have 5 of them, you can assemble the team again and repeat steps 1 and 2.

3) As soon as you receive 5 “ Stalker Transmitter ”, the task “ Attack of Stalkers (3/3) ” will open on the next turn.
In the task " Attack of stalkers (3/3) " you must select the following dialogue options:
Before the battle - " Search the object "
After the battle - " Search the incubators "

If everything went well, all 5 “ Stalker Transmitter ” will be taken from you, and in return they will be given “ WYVERN-X ”.

4) In one of the regular tasks, without names and so on, after the battle you will be given the answer option “ Give to commander WYWERN-X ”. After which you will be given a new item " Security Codes ".

5) Repeat steps 1-2 again until you receive 5 “ Stalker Transmitter ” and open the task “ Attack of Stalkers (3/3) ”.

6) In the task “ Attack of stalkers (3/3) ” you must select the following dialogue options:
Before the battle - " Search the object "
After the battle - " Activate the security system remote control "

" Security Codes " will be taken away from you, the quest chain will end, and you will receive an achievement.
