How to unlock the Ultra 64 achievement in Killer Instinct - Definitive Guide

Select practice mode choose Kilgore, opponent does not matter, I used Thunder. Once in practice mode hit the menu button, press RB twice to get to the practice options menu, set your instinct meter to Infinite, press B to get back to your practice battle. Once here activate your instinct and then do any of your chaingun attacks until the achievement pops, I used half circle forward with the right bumper and kept hitting it over and over until i got it.

I just discovered you can earn this without buying Kilgore.
I got this achievement on accident without buying him.
I went to Trials which is under Single Player, then Master. I had a trial to "deal 20% damage as Kilgore in practice mode". I clicked it and it took me in to the practice mode versus Riptor. After playing around with him for a bit I put on infinite Instinct and let loose with the gatling guns. Next thing I knew I popped the achievement!
Sadly I can't get any more of his achievements until I buy him.

I didn't buy him either but I luckily got him to join my team in the Shadow Lords Mode so now I'm trying to get as many as I can with him before that ends,

Thanks for the comment! I wasn't sure if you got him on your team in Shadow Lords if you could earn his achievements or not.

Easiest way besides buying straight out is to play "Shadow Lords" and finding a multi part Ultratech mission where you fight him a couple of times. After that, you can add him onto your team in place of another fighter. When you do, activate the Instinct mode and use any Chain Gun special.

Couldn't you also do this in Practice Mode?

You could, but you have to own the character or wait for him to be the free fighter of the week. This is just to do it without buying the character.

Since this achievement can be unlocked without the DLC shouldn't it be separated out as a title update?

You can also access this in Trials mode. There are several Kilgore tasks that take you straight to Practice Mode with Kilgore whether you own it or not.

i would say no because you can only get it because kilgore exists as dlc. i think the work arounds to get it are cool, and should be in the guides, but i dont think TA should separate the achievements for kilgore into ones you can earn in shadowlords and random trial and ones you have to own him to get.
