This requires you to obtain a score over a certain threshold that varies from episode to episode.
It isn't as hard as you might initially think. When you first play through an episode the first few times, you should be averaging Silver medals. As you play through it repeatedly, you'll unlock buddies, an ability, and (most importantly) side missions. These side missions, in particular, will net you a TON of points.
For example, as you play the second Up episode 'Free The Birds' (or any Up episode for that matter), you'll unlock Russell, Carl, and Doug as buddies, the whip as your ability, and you'll gain side missions to take chocolate bars back from thieving toucans and to save some caged monkeys.
When you unlock these missions, just take your time and look around the circular areas in this episode. In the first two areas with bird cages you need to unlock, you should find two monkey cages and one toucan in each area. Take your time and complete these missions, your time score will NOT be affected that much.
Doing this should net you a platinum medal for that episode and the achievement will pop on the Replay screen.

The solution itself is good, but you messed some things up. You need 8000 for platinum and the episode is called "free the birds"

I easily got a platinum medal in the Incredibles level called "Save Metroville!" You need to have all the side quests and buddy characters unlocked. Slide down to the area right before you fight the boss for the first time (there's no need to go out of your way collecting coins, just take the most straightforward path). To your right is an area where you can put out some fires. After you're done with that, beat the boss and continue sliding. Right before you fight the boss a second time, go to the right and enter Violet's buddy area (where the fire is). There are multiple people in here that need rescued. After you take them all to the helicopter, go to the right again to find Dash's buddy area at the edge of the platform. Put the fires out, and then go back to fight the boss for the second time. After that, slide on to the end of the level and finish off the boss. I got just over 8400 points and the platinum medal.
