An easier way to get this is to buy the Mine powerup. It enables you to drop a mine down whenever your power bar is full. Throughout a race you can drop 5 or 6 mines quite easily, and you should end up blowing up an opponent before the race ends.

Awesome, thanks for this tip. Would never have looked in the store for the upgrade for the powerup. Got it 2nd race after getting this. Thanks!

this one is pretty easy to get. just race close to the mines just to ignite them and then whoever is behind you will run into them
