How to unlock the Out of the Park achievement in Kinect Sports Season Two - Definitive Guide

I managed to do this my first try so it should not be too hard. You start out with 10 chances to get as many points as you can. The farther you hit the ball the more points you get. Getting a home run gives you an extra chance so you'll need to get at least a few home runs in order to get enough points to surpass 2500. I ended up with over 3000 my first try.

I noticed that getting home runs is easier if you make a conscious attempt to swing up and out rather than just a line drive swing. As a baseball player myself this goes against what most batting coaches would say, but this is a game.

When you say 'swing up and out', how does that translate into arm positions? Sorry I have never played baseball before and have only watched a few games.

Well you start by matching the position of your avatar. Where your hands together and near your shoulder. If you are right handed you'd have them up near your right shoulder, left handed near your left shoulder.

As you swing your imaginary bat try to imagine swinging in an upward arcing motion.

If you were actually playing baseball you aren't usually supposed to swing like this so it was a bit odd at first. You would normally swing in a horizontal line with perhaps a slight upward motion. If you swing like this in the game I noticed you tend to get more hits that are line drives that end up in the outfield, but were not going far enough to be home runs. Of course this was just my experience. Perhaps others find playing a different way yields to more homeruns.

Got it just then. I found that the things that helped me the most were, 1) position your left foot out to the front (if you are righthanded) when in the ready position. 2) lean into the shot. 3) timing - time it just as the ball is about to reach you, this one will take the most time to master. Maybe driving upward helped but it wasn't consistent enough for me to determine.

I can't get this one for the life of me! Every time I get hits they just go in the outfield. Regular game mode I pound out HR's too. When you are all saying position your foot out...do you STEP into it, or just stand with your feet apart, and upward swing (kind of like the upward motion of a golf swing)?

I think my high score is 1300. Timing on hits seems to be different on this on as opposed to regular baseball/pro difficulty too.

Took me 3 attempts but once you get the hang of it the home runs just keep on coming. Thanks for the info.

I'm with Thenix on this one - "once you get the hang of it" doesn't seem to be coming for me. I've tried about everything and get these "good hits" or "great distance" comments, then the ball goes 150 feet.

i know exactly what you mean, "swinging upwards". i noticed that even b4 reading this, so it's definitely not just you. also, i've noticed - after holding your fists over your shoulder to enter the hit, simply lower your hands a little again, so its easier to emphasize the upwards motion.

Finally got it. Not easy at all in a small space. Keep your arms between your hips and shoulders and try to swing upwards. I turned sides so with my right shoulder forward, that helped me make two home runs and popped the chievo.

I had no luck trying to swing up or trying to time it perfectly. I would get maybe one homerun but after that nothing. I actually found success in an odd way. The only way I could knock several in a row over the wall was to swing in a weird way. Once you ready up so that the pitcher is able to throw you have to hold your bat out so you can see it on the screen. Then when the ball is getting close pull back and swing forward. When you get the timing right it's always a homerun. I can't explain it but it works. Hope this helps someone out there, it sure would have saved me time if I had started out like this.

The hardest part of it though was simply getting the bat to move back and then forward the way you want. Seems to be the way of the game that you end up fighting the kinect most of the time.

In comparison to most of the mini-games, this one seems to be the most lenient. Be sure to keep your foot out and watch the ball get to the plate carefully; they’ll throw a variety of pitch types your way.
