How to unlock the Kilometer King achievement in Kinect Sports - Definitive Guide

The cheating method:

Run as you would normally, and rest in the rest zones.

When/If you get a bit tired hit the round Xbox button in the middle - THIS WILL PAUSE THE GAME!!!

When you are suitably recovered you can hit the round Xbox button again to resume from where you were.

Keep going until you reach 1000m.

Perfect solution. I'm surprised more people haven't thumbed-up this solution. Thanks bro.

Fuck yeah I got it using your strategy. I am very tall (like 2m) and with my long legs its very difficult to raise knees and sprint fast at the same time. But with your solution I did short sprint bursts with high knees between every green zone. Fucking worst achievement in the game, never ever again!

Thank you for your kind words, Mike. I'm glad this helped you out. clap

I'll be honest, the Circuit Breaker achievement in this game annoyed me for hours to the point that I've completely given up on it... ugh!

Don't give up on Circuit Breaker. For me it helped to create more space in front of the TV plus a high Kinect camera position (above TV with a camera stand). With less space I tried like 100 times getting mixed results between 70 and 120m. With more space, I always throw over 100m (which is necessary) and also aiming is much much better! Got it in 10th try like this. As you can see I have completed KS and you can do it as well!

This achievement is a test of pure fitness, and you’ll really have to get your knees high to keep your avatar moving fast enough for each checkpoint. Start running just before the end of each rest zone to ensure that you don’t drop the pace.

I really can't get this to work, it always fails me around 300/400 when I am running faster and lifting my knees higher than the guy in the video...

After so many tries, I would have to say, do not follow this guide, you'll waste your energy. I have not met one person who can raise their knees that low and win the achievement. It was all high high knees and good pacing.

I'd want to make some notes here: first off I can bet that the game version they used in the video is very different from the normal retail or digital version, which allows them to lift their knees so low, yet reach almost the max speed; secondly his hands going all glitchy proves that some unseen tricks were used (there is no way to make the kinect see your hands moving like that, when you clearly move them up and down, unless the kinect is placed in a very weird position); thirdly I have tried so many ways of running, of positioning myself, of lifting my knees higher or lower, of tilting the kinect up or down, absolutely nothing worked, my avatar just wouldn't move as fast as that guy's avatar moves in the video. I really wanted to get it "legit" but the probable extent to which you have to raise your knees and the rapidity with which you have to cope are almost inhuman and not too many persons can do that, including me.

Now, the way that I finally managed to do it, the way that I think is absolutely the best way to approach this achivement is to first go in the kinect tuner, tracking, and tilt the kinect down so that you can see the floor clearly and your head is almost at the top of the kinect tracking camera , then get a chair, place it behind you and before you start, stand up, raise your hand, bend down and 0.5 secs before it says go, sit on the chair with your back almost straight and immediately start lifting your knees almost up to your chest level and keep on doing that for about 1 minute and 15 secs (in the rest zones as well) and I guarantee you it will work flawlessly. Just do not stop lifting your knees until you're done. I also recommend to take a break of at least 30 minutes after you're done... if can still stand up after the effort. Congratulations to anyone who got this achievement legit or not.

I got it legit and its actually quite annoying that people can get this by 'cheating' cause now its pretty meaningless that I did it legitimately... Never mind..

OMG this was so hard. I put a cover at my side and waved it like it was my knees. I got it first try.

Clearly the guy in the video must use some super kinect sensor. I run so much faster than him and also lifted my knees up much higher than him. Even when i lifted my knees up higher than him i run faster and barely made it. This was an insane achievement doing legit as I did.

So frustrating but very happy i got this one done.

Cant believe one as old as me are playing something like this. laugh

The video is very misleading because you can copy the guy in the video and even run faster with higher knees but you'll end up with a slower time. After many failed attempts I tried xCosmo BOLTz's method listed above I got it first try. You just have to make sure you follow his kinect tracking instructions first.

I got knees high and ran very fast but I noticed that my avatar is not very fast. What can I improve? Best is 755 and I was running faster and knees higher than the guy in the video. Very frustrating :(

Hey, I can promise you it was a retail version on a retail xbox! I think pumping your arms helps, but as long as you pause in the rest sections, you should win the achievement.

As with all running, you need to lift your knees!!

After 3 attempts at running as fast as I could, I stumbled at the 880 mark. I went back and lifted my knees high and ran moderatly fast, and got around 1060.

With this method it shouldn't take you long, simply running as fast as you can will just knacker you out though.

Probably the most effort I've ever put in to get an achievement got it first time luckily . Best chance is to do as dyno and jolly said by lifting your knees but when it says rest just slow down as stop/starting will knacker you out to soon

Another helpful hint is to get the boost at the beginning of the race. You take off as the gun is shot and it'll boost you straight to the first rest area in under a second.

I paused via the guide button during the green sections to catch my breath. That helped a bunch and I got this on my second attempt.

Ensure that your Kinect sensor is placed in a position where it can pick up the movement of your knees, otherwise this achievement can be made a lot more difficult than it needs to be. Remember that while you're timed, you don't actually need to run quickly; bear in mind that the game registers speed by how high your knees are, so the higher you can raise your knees the better. You're timed here, so it's simply a measure of speed and endurance. The green 'rest' zones while giving you a slight time bonus will slow you down significantly if you choose to stop running here. One very useful tip to remember is that you can keep your controller handy and just hit the Xbox button to pause the game if you feel like you need to take a break, and you can then come back to it when you're feeling up to it. Stretch beforehand, don't over-exert yourself, and please don't do yourself an injury!
