How to unlock the Return to Sender achievement in Kinect Sports - Definitive Guide
Two tips... one legitimate / one questionable.
First, this plays like real table tennis, so it helps to shade towards the opposite side of the table. Meaning, if the ball is on the right side of the table, the computer cannot hit the ball wide right, so you should shade to the left to protect against a wide left shot. So, when the balls on the right side of the table, shade left (stand on the left side of the table). When the balls on the left side of the table, shade right. It's toughest when the balls in the center, because it could go anywhere.
For the questionable hint, you can hit the guide button on a controller just after the computer hits the ball. This will quickly pause the game, and if you time it right, you can see where the ball is being hit. (props to ANFIELD MAN NO8 who came up with this on the Bump-osaurus achievement, as I adapted this from his hint).

The pausing really helps, got it first time using the trick.
Thanks, +1 from me.

AWESOME, pausing a bunch (like slow motion ) gave me enough time to get my hand circles in the right spot! (like waxing)! Thanks for the awesome solution.

We've captured one of the developers getting this achievement, so check out the video and follow his lead. Shouldn't take too long to get this once you've learnt how to return the wide ones.
Do not attack or make any spin ball in this mini-game. The goal is to play more rounds, not defeat that guy, so just put your hand in the way of the ball, and do not make any other actions... The ball will get hit back without any spin and the speed will be slow, which gives you enough time to prepare for the next ball and you won't get flurry and tired :)
When I use this strategy for the first time, I got an 85. Just have a try and good luck!

Not adding spins does not mean that guy won't add spins as well... you still need to pay attention to his/her top spin balls. But by doing what i told, you can make the smallest action to catch the ball, which would:
1. ensure every ball you play is not that fast, so that you have more time to prepare for the next ball
2. save your energy for the duration to play more rounds

Sorry if i didn't explain clearly in the original post.

In addition to Wei2008's suggestion, I'd add that it was easier with my left hand. With my right hand I was getting around 45, but the backhands to the left side were killing me and seemed like the majority of the balls were going to the left anyhow. Once I switched hands, I got the achievement in one turn.
This is actually one of the more difficult achievements to obtain, as you need to resist the urge to just smash the ball. Direction and placement is the key here. There is no time limit, however your opponent will begin to return the ball faster and faster as you approach the required score of 60+. The best way to approach this is simply to return the ball in as straight a line as possible back to the computer, so that it goes directly to them, rather than forcing them to move for it, which can cause them to miss and the rally to end. Just keep persevering and don’t let the pressure get to you. Stay focused, and this achievement should be yours.
If you add front spin (yellow ball) then rally become faster but you can add back spin (blue ball) and after that ball stay almost it's current speed. This make things much easier and you don't need fast reflexs to get this achievement.
