How to unlock the Tornado Gardens Champion achievement in Kinect Sports - Definitive Guide

I found the champ to be impossible to beat with my normal aggressive tactics. So then I became a bit more defensive. I started the round blocking untill the 3 silver fists lit up. Then I pulled my shoulder back and launched a power shot to his face. As soon as I saw the stars around his head I quickly moved foward and wildly delivered a flurry of head and body shots as fast as I could. I repeated the process when he got back up and quickly TKO'd him in the first round. Good Luck TAers!

Update: I just beat his monkey ass again. I noticed I was able to steadily hit him without being hit if i alternated head shot, body shot, head shot, body shot, etc (after stunning him of course). Also, as I stated before, hit as fast as you can!

Do you know a failsafe way to get a block for the body? I can't get it to register 100% of the time

Just hold your hands in front of your belly with your fists facing each other.

Wow, sorry mac that really sucks. If you beat the CPU on champion difficulty and didn't get the achievement, I would suggest clearing your cache.(press the guide button and select settings/system settings/memory, then highlight your hard drive and press Y and select clear system cache.) If this doesn't work, back up your save file and erase it from your hard drive. Then try again with a fresh save. Hope this helps and good luck.

Great guide I was able to decision him by knocking him down once in the second and not being knocked down at all. The hardest part is getting it to recongize blocking low. What I did was just pick high or low blocking and stick with it until I got 3 and then get him rocked. Again great guide.

Brilliant guide - one it via decision, both me and the computer got knocked down twice, so it seems fairly easy to get the achievement provided you can get a few knock downs. Thumbs up!

Great guide.. I found blocking to be a pain to gain the 3 power gloves so I just played until the end of round 3 and won by decision even though he knocked me out once and I never knocked him out. Pretty lucky really ;D

The best way to block low, for me, is to cross my arms in front of my stomach. When I found that out, I beat the CPU on champion on my first try!

+ vote from me!
I tried the defensive technique, but it didn't really work for me (doesn't always register a low block) so I tried using the method from your update - worked a treat!
Got it first try without any need for stunning or blocking, so long as you time it well and land the first hit you can just keep alternating and he just spends all his time in the animations for getting hit and doesn't have chance to fire off a shot.
Great guide, thanks for sharing.

this worked for me eventually. The game randomly started not blocking in the 3rd round of my first match, but I did it again and it worked fine. Much easier than the speed ball method.

Something I wasn't doing properly at first was doing a power attack when I had 3 block tokens. Make sure you do that as that is what staggers him.

Quick question, once he's stunned how do you move towards him to land a flurry of hits? I managed to stun him but he's too far away for me to hit!! Do you have to lean forward or something? This and the bowling (Champion Difficulty) is causing me great stress!!

only took about 20 attempts but i got it. really practice and learn how to block low and high punches before really going for it. and once u make him dizzy go really really fast between head shot and body shot.

found a very easy method, not going very quickly just jab him in the face and with your other hand straight after to the body. you dont have to be agressive just keep a nice rythm going so one to the face and when he is blocking that one to the body. you will keep eating at his health until it goes into red and you will win on points or by tko if u knock him down. if he does manage to daze you just block and start the above again. face/body/face/body. your arms wont be tired as u are going at a steady slow pace. got it first try using this as i had tried everything else. :)

EASY WAY!!! just found out how to do it!

So if anyone knows what a speed bag is(really fast circles with your hands) so instead of going forwards, like normal, go counter clockwise and dip up and down(Tea bag motion up and down crouch and stand while doing it) what this will do is send hundreds of powerhits to his upper and lower body knocking him out in less than three seconds.

By the time your mind registers that he is blocking high he will have blocked all your hits... Just go up and down You will land more hits doing the dips up and down constantly yes, but this isnt always the case... the only time you should stop is when he unloads a dizzy(not a gow dizzy either lol) on you but start back up when you can hear the croud get loader.

I know there are two perfectly good solutions, but rather than add a comment I'll just add a new solution with some things I want to add.
There are 4 things to keep in mind when doing this:
1) You cannot win by spamming. You have to block and then hit him/her with a stunning blow.
2) After blocking, launch spam punches at him like HazeMonster said. BUT the thing you have to be VERY careful of doing is spamming him for too long. Be conservative in your spamming. I noticed I could spam punch him while he was dazed for a good 5 seconds at least, but going longer than that you risk having him recover in the middle of your barrage. If that happens he will block them and stun you back! That was what killed me my first couple games against him which were otherwise going my way.
3) In most of the games my other problem was blocking. I found the easiest way to carry out a low block is to make fists, holding your hands just below each of your pecks and have your forearms stay close to your chest. They should be horizontal. To switch to a high block, keep the fists but bring them up in front of your face. A lot of you probably have this figured out, but it was annoying as hell until I got good at quickly switching between the two.
4) When blocking, there is no pattern to where the champ punches whatsoever. So just try to anticipate or see where he is going to punch right before he does and block appropriately. Otherwise just guess. You will take punches no matter what, but you will be able to get in your 3 blocks eventually.

Hope this helps! I had a hell of a time with this but once I did all of these in unison it wasn't too hard for me and I won in points 2-1.

Thank you for the low blocking tip I was struggling with that. Did one game on Amateur lost on points 0-3 but took what I learned in next match to Champion lost 2-1 but then won second attempt 3-0 in decision.

I just got this on my third attempt by using a combination of the Guides from HazeMonster and that of That505Guy.

But to summarise this is what I did :

simply block until you get 3 silver glove icons
(i find whether to block low or high a rather Hit or Miss affair ....... see what i did there laugh )
when you get your 3 silver gloves, pull your shoulder back and make an exaggerated power punch to your opponents head......it's not always a guarantee, but i got this in only three matches.

This delivers a stunning blow, as soon as you see the stars, disco roll your fists , like the speed punch bag method, flurry this attack, changing the height, head or body target, by squatting low or standing, aiming where his block .....isn't.

You opponent will now have less health than you.

Use your disco roll punches and squatting technique to finish him off.

There is an element of luck to this, but as i said, i went from , hmmm i wonder what boxing is like, to Achievement unlocked in 3 matches.

I wish you all the same success.

This worked perfectly for me. I got it around 5 matches following this guide. As Big Dibs mentioned, there is a bit of luck involved depending on how well the AI blocks during the stun as well as if you can get the last bit of health off for the knockout you knock him out without him getting 3 stars and throwing a power punch back at you.

Just a heads up, I managed to win the achievement by decision. I had a knockdown in the first, and in the second and third rounds we both knock each other down once per round. So just stick with it, you don't need a knockout.

If you are having trouble with the solutions above you can try the method I used. I don't punch until I have the power punch up and ready to go. Then hit him through the dizzy spell and go back to defense. Beat him several times this way after figuring it out to pay him back for all that effort before.

Another thing that I had trouble with at first is the actual hand position for blocking high and low. I kept having my block come down randomly and letting punches in. The trick is to put your fists together facing each other. If you are blocking high it should be just about even with your forehead (on me at least, height may require tweaking) For the body shots go about even with the belly button or even at your sides as long as your fists are facing each other it should pick it up.

Hope this helps someone out there.

Really easy. Just jab high with your right hand, and low with your left hand (or vice versa if you prefer) as rapidly as you can. He can't block both at once.

Eventually you'll knock him down. He might get a few powered-up punches in, and might even knock you down once or twice, but using this tactic you're bound to eventually knock him down a total of three times in the first round for a TKO.

It might take you a few tries, but that's how I did it.

I followed all tips from the other solution but could not rack up a win... So I went on the offensive. Low blow then straight/uppercut (I alternated these to stop him blocking constantly. He will stagger back from the straight punch, when he comes at you he will have his guard up so just repeate the first steps but in the other order if needed to get around his blocks. I did it first time this way. Not saying it will work for every one but its worth a try. Message me for more details cheers!

Patience and timing are the keys to winning here. Just throwing wild punches may work on lower difficulty opponents, but against the Champion it’ll just result in blocks and stuns, which aren’t good. Combos work well, following one punch with another but as soon as your opponent begins to block, withdraw and play on the defensive side yourself or else you risk getting up their power bar. Remember that it’s a game; exaggerated movements work best. If you’re going for an uppercut, for example, really throw an upwards punch so that the game actually reads it as an uppercut. When blocking, try not to keep your hands too close together, just to make sure that Kinect reads it as a block and you’re not caught off guard thinking you’ve blocked when Kinect’s read it as something else.

While stuns are your worst nightmare, they’re also your best friend. Once you’ve made a few blocks and got up your power bar, go for a wide hook shot. If it connects, it’ll daze your opponent for a few seconds allowing you to go crazy with the punches without worrying about a counter-attack or a block. Bear in mind the technique mentioned below in “Stunning Recovery” in case you’re subject to a stun yourself. No matter how you win the match, whether it be a KO, TKO or from a technicality at the end, once you win the achievement should pop.
