How to unlock the Waveside Champion achievement in Kinect Sports - Definitive Guide
If you are set up for a spike with your player on the right hand side of the court, jump but dont swing your arm. Your character will just tap it over the net and it will fall almost vertically. I'd say I won about 50% of the points I tried this on and on the times they did return it I was able to spike it over a grounded player. I didnt have anywhere near as much luck doing it on the left hand side of the court though.
We've just posted our official video guide to Beach Volleyball, running through the gestures and the finer points of each type of shot.

Then you know where the ball will come, just move your body to that side.
Was still a bit hard but i won with 7-5. =)
Did the same thing for "Sand Master" achievement.
There are various ways to try and beat the Champion difficulty AI. Blocking - see “Networking” for how to do this - is a good tip to get yourself a bit more breathing room, although it can give way to smash shots, so vary it a bit and don’t always block. Stretching yourself out and making yourself as big as possible when the ball is coming towards you is useful, because then you will only need to make small movements in order to be able to hit the ball. Ensure you have plenty of space to jump around for smash shots, as you don’t want to be hitting the ceiling or light. Placement, like with the other Champion difficulty opponents is crucial. Don’t just smash it straight at them, smash it into some open space and make them work for it. If you smash it straight at them, they’re a lot more likely to be able to return it than if they have to move into open space. Remember too that Kinect likes exaggerated movements, so if you want to hit it to the left, really exaggerate your arm movement to the left to make it go there. Finally, bear in mind that there are various methods of serving. You don’t have to wait for the ball to come back down to you; you can jump up and hit it when it’s still in the air. Try mixing this up, and placing your serves to make the computer work. Incorporate all these tips, and if you win the match, the achievement will be yours.
One extra 'cheap' tip is when you're given an opportunity for a smash, wave both your arms somewhat slowly in a sideways motion toward whichever of the other team is in the back position. This will generally result in a 'dump' shot that drops the ball softly in the front section of the court, which will either win the point outright, or give way to a second smash shortly after which you can place toward the back of the court, over the downed player's head.
