You have to reach level 50 because as you level up your pets max stats also raise.. so reach trainer level 50 and then level up a pets stamina, strength and charm to the max level and the achievement should unlock.
Just got the achievement! Yes you do have to be trainer level 50 and the max the pets stats out to level 30.

How do you level them up. All three are un the green but they are not levelling up?

Is it best to keep using the starter pet or to use one that's purchased later to get a boost on the stats? If so, do you have a suggestion.

Just a heads up. I used the Polar Bear pet and when I was Level 49, I was able to max out his stats to 30 on each category however no achievement. Therefore, I kept playing and when I hit Level 50, the achievement popped instantly. Just keep this in mind and don't panic if you don't get the achievement at Level 49 with all stats maxed.

I got to trainer level 50 on Windows Phone a while ago with all stats at level 27. When I upgraded charm to level 30, the chievo unlocked. For Windows 8 however, I had to raise ALL stats to level 30 before it unlocked.

I'm at Trainer Level 49 and all the Pet Stats at Level 30. No achievement, so I'm keep going to reach Trainer Level 50.
If I'm feeding my pets when it is in red (low level) then not upgrading it, just only when the stat is in green. Is this correct?

Yes only when they are green they will upgrade. And you will get the achievement at level 50

Don't know why this solution has more negatives than positives, but it's 100% correct. Achievement won't pop when you get your pets' stats to 30 when you are level 49. Trainer level must be 50 as well. My tip is to getting this faster is by buying the new collars and pendents with diamonds, specifically the ones that have +XP% in the description.
