The way I did this was:
Started any contest
Did poorly
Switched players (Top right hand corner)
Played contest mediocre
Switched back to main player
Played best game out of all three.
Cheevo unlocked.
You may not have to do poorly at first just start a contest and immediately switch to other player, but I did it to make sure.

Note: you don't have to be the first to do compete. We signed in on my account, but swapped to allow my wife to play first. My wife competed and had low score. We swapped back to my account and I got it after beating her score
