I would recommend another strategy, kind of a combination of "thatjeremyguy" and the comment to it. The first time you do a contest, it is worth more gold. As it seems, all gold you get in and out of competitions in another persons game counts towards 2000. Start up a game with another account, swap to your main account, and then play through the game, doing competitions until the second competition in the second area (Fiddlers beach). In doing this, you would get this achievement (already in the first area), and then you can go to the shop and buy a piece of furniture for

and a pendant or collar for

This is a much more efficient way than getting all 2000 on one activity.

It's important to note that you can keep your main profile logged in once you swap players. All of the gold you accumulate while playing the fields in between contests counts too - the achievement popped for me while just playing frisbee normally and completing one of those small challenges that pops up all the time.

Must have at least a secondary account with a save file. "Main" "A"
Sign in on account "A" and do a contest. When you finish and get to the retry screen, swap out players (hand lower left, change identity) to the "Main" account you want the cheevo for.
Replay this event and gold medal (anything on first zone is easy). You will get a bonus of 180 coins, so you will need to replay this event 12 times in order to get the 2000 coins needed.

In lieu of posting a new guide I think you should at that you can find a contest worth more points and get it done a lot quicker. The remote control car in the first area is worth 600 or more can't remember coins I did it 3 to 4 times and got the achievement. I realize it takes longer to open that area up then just doing the first challenge, but may be quicker then doing the 180 point one 12 times.
