How to unlock the Gold Standard achievement in Kinectimals - Definitive Guide

For EVERYONE with the Kinectimals Now with Bears! game disc:

For whatever reason, this disc causes a glitch that you will not receive the all gold medals achievement after you get your last medal!

I got the gold medal achievement to pop in Kinectimals!

Find an original copy of the game (without DLC on disc) and replay the last minigame (or any minigame thanks to MathGuy42) and it should unlock as it was originally intended to!

Best of luck, and hope it helps anyone who was unable to unlock the achievement!

I had a problem with loading the save game from the with bears disc in the normal version. But that was because i played the game offline. So just a tip if you play this game offline. Get title update #3 (+- 48MB) and install it to your console. Otherwise it will give an error when loading the save game.

This ofcourse is no problem for anyone playing this game on an online profile. Since you will get the title update automaticly that way.

It seems you can replay any minigame. I replayed Piggie Skittles (Woodland Glade) and got the achievement. I did not test if Gold is required on the replay. Of course if you do need Gold, there are plenty of easy choices.

I just re-played 'Tricks in the Grass', and received the achievement when I re.earned my gold medal.

Cheers to Tandar1, I never would have guessed this is the way to get the achievement. A shame it was never fixed.

What if you have the With Bears disc but never played any of the content on it. Do you still need to get the older disc to get this to pop?

That's the disc I had when I first started, so unless they patched it you will need to find that other disc.

I am running into the issue where I played it with the bears DLC so it wouldn't pop, now I bought the original game and when I go to load it up, the game freezes at the map. Anyone have these issues and what did you do to resolve it?!?

I would add to your solution that if you have actually played any of the bears DLC before going for this, then you will have to start your save all over, because I cannot get the game to load and I have previously played and finished the bears DLC. I think because I have toys and what not from the bears DLC in the game, it won't even load up the cat adventure.

Of course the achievement is getting a gold in every contest on every island, but it seems that a lot of people are having problems with the "Flower Power" bubble popping contest in Cherry Blossom. Here is what i did.

Gold: 40k

For all rounds I kept my left had either behind my back or in my pocket. Sometimes it would pick up my left hand and throw a ball, ruining my multiplier.

Round 1: 3 Totems
Use a slow constant motion "releasing" the ball when your arm is almost fully straight. Aim in the general direction, and try to get the bubbles on the way up or at their peak. Its quite hard to hit them on their way down. You don't have to be perfect, but it helps a lot.
Goal : 9k+ ( i got 9.9k missed one early).

Round 2: 6 Totems(Not sure if its exactly six, but there are more).
Switch it up and use and overhead throw, I kept my arm up and just cocked my wrist back and forth imitating a throw, and "threw" the ball in the direction of the bubble. I missed a few bubbles throughout, but the multiplier kept going up as long as I kept hitting bubbles.
Goal: 16k+ ( I got 17k).

Round 3: A Lot of Totems
Switch back to the underhand motion, but instead of a slow constant motion, use a really fast motion and "release" the ball early in your throw. You will still need to aim in the general direction of the bubbles, but just keep the balls coming. You'll keep your multiplier growing if you keep hitting bubbles even if you miss one.
Goal: 15k (I got 17k)

It took a lot of practice, but I ended up getting it, completing the game. Quite frustrating, but its done! Hope this helps!

I think for the Flower Power it probably helps having used the ball in free play, as well as standing a fair way away from the sensor as I managed to get well over 20k in the second and third rounds, the multiplier is key, don't worry about popping all the bubbles just go steady, you have more than enough time. For the third round I found if I just threw vaguely at the centre of the screen I was pretty much guaranteed to hit a bubble with each throw. Personally I found the RC contest prior to flower power the most difficult so far.

Exactly what Gh9st said, I didn't have nearly as much trouble as some people have had. Aim for 10k in the first two rounds and 20k for round three and it's a piece of cake. The kick ball and booting the crabs were the ones that gave me the most trouble but weren't too bad.

I am pretty sure it is the game not the software, Kinect Adventures is fine for the most part, so is Kinect Sports. I have only had problems with Kinectimals.

Is there any way of going back to do each contest once the storyline has finished? The game is amazing, and I love it, but I'm not starting the entire game again just for this achievement.

I didn't have any trouble with the slalom. I was fairly energetic with jumping from foot to foot and kept my body fairly low. You do have to be faster than the little guy shows you I felt.

Anyone have any advice for firework hoopla? That's the one I'm stuck on.

By iiM SO S1N1STER on 27 Jan 2011 23:30
The firework one took me some effort and several attempts to get gold. The biggest thing is the multiplier. Keep that going (and work for the hoopla achievement if you need it, that is the mini-game that I got it on) and once I got the achievement (for 5 in a row I believe?) i just started chucking the rings as fast as it would let me. The trouble with that strategy is the fireworks sometimes hit the rings you toss as they fly around. Try soft underhand tosses and don't forget that you can move side to side to change the angle you look at the fireworks.

Anybody had any problems on the banana throwing competition? It's so sensitive and keeps throwing random bananas ruining my multiplier :( on the other hand, the flower power came first try, I think I got lucky and it glitched, because the multiplier kept growing even though I missed. Wished that would happen on the banana throwing :(

More advice on the last round of Flower Power. Left hand at side or in your pocket. Upper part of your right arm against your body. Lower part of your right arm out at 90 degrees. Drop it straight to the side and bring it back up over and over rapidly without paying attention to the screen at all. I improved my final round score by 10,000 just ignoring what was actually happening.

I have 30/30 golds but the achievement won't unlock as well. I got the last few gold medals after completing the game and moving onto the DLC, I don't know if this is a contributing factor or not. This is very frustrating. If anyone has a work around please post what it is.

By thebigbadtoph on 16 Jan 2012 05:59
I also have 30/30 gold medals but no achievement. Unlike thebigbadtoph, I made sure I got gold in each contest before continuing the game, so when I did the last contest for the first time (I think it's called Snow Smash), I got the 30th gold medal. The achievement still didn't unlock.

I also noticed that when I looked at my trophy cabinet, for the first two areas there's a box in the UI which shows "achieved (picture of bronze medal) (green tick)", for the next two areas it shows "achieved (picture of silver medal) (green tick)" and for the fifth area it shows "achieved (picture of gold medal) (green tick)". For the last area this box doesn't appear at all.

If anyone knows a fix for this, let me know.

So... I wasted a weeks worth of free time reearning 30 golds, but making sure to not have the last one be the last event like I did the first time. Still no achievement despite me earning 30/30 gold twice!

FUCK THIS GAME!

For Flower Power, if the first two rounds don't go well, don't give up! I only got about 6K each in rounds 1 and 2. Then somehow Round 3 was incredible. The game seemed to never count a Miss and somehow I got over 33K, for a final score over 44K. I just kept throwing underhand, releasing at about 45 degrees, about once a second. (Saw this suggested by Scrapdaddy on x360a.) Unfortunately, I could probably never repeat it, since the most I had ever gotten before on Round 3 was 22K, but usually around 17K.

Struggling with the obstacle courses I'm doing everything right yet my animal does what it wants! Was 11 points off the score for the final course but missed it because on the second lap the animal decided to run round the tunnel
instead of going through it grr

Woody - open the toy box, go to map and select an area. When you are in an area, open the map again and point to the same area of the map. this time it will open up the contests for you.

Just like to repeat what MathGuy42 said, "For Flower Power, if the first two rounds don't go well, don't give up! I only got about 6K each in rounds 1 and 2. Then somehow Round 3 was incredible. The game seemed to never count a Miss and somehow I got over 33K, for a final score over 44K. I just kept throwing underhand, releasing at about 45 degrees, about once a second. (Saw this suggested by Scrapdaddy on x360a.) Unfortunately, I could probably never repeat it, since the most I had ever gotten before on Round 3 was 22K, but usually around 17K."

I have just attempted this and almost got 38k, combined with what stevemccaslin said here: "More advice on the last round of Flower Power. Left hand at side or in your pocket. Upper part of your right arm against your body. Lower part of your right arm out at 90 degrees. Drop it straight to the side and bring it back up over and over rapidly without paying attention to the screen at all. I improved my final round score by 10,000 just ignoring what was actually happening."

Bar ignoring the screen for the first two rounds, and the third round trying to hit middle and just left or right once every second to keep the combo going I hit over 20k.

It's about form and multipliers for sure.

So annoyed as it wouldn't throw the ball & when it did it kept missing the bubbles after I got 3.3x multiplier so had to start over, ah could have got it! Oh well here goes once again.

Bingo, first attempt after writing that and following the form etc. I hit 11k in the first round, 26k in the second (no bubbles missed), and in the 3rd obviously I only need 3k but still managed 25k.

Thanks to all who contributed to the solution.

for the obstacle courses

slalom - tuck your arms in, feet shoulder width apart and "dodge" from side to side deliberately, dont try to stay in time with the cub of flying thing

climb - make sure your hands are above your head and make a "pull down" motion, doesn't have to be fast, just deliberate - above your head is the key here

Was getting frustrated with "Flower Power" and had tried the methods suggested by moroniccow above but only managed to get 30k once.

Then I tried the method suggested by kHz RazgriZ above and got the Gold medal on my first attempt. So Kudos to kHz RazgriZ.

So I would recommend trying that method. You still need to aim but you will hit the 'bubbles' more often than not.

^ The achievement is unobtainable using the Now with Bears disc. You must have access to an original disc. Another solution has more details.

Pro tip for Flower Power: The timer doesn't start until your first throw. Wait until there are a lot of bubbles on screen before you throw. This isn't super helpful in rounds 1 or 2, but it can be extremely helpful in round 3.

On flower power, I got 54k first try with a couple simple changes in play environment.

As you know, if the ball went exactly where you threw it and the game didnt glitch out this would be an easy win. (More luck than skill because you're banking on the controls working correctly) What I did was let a ton of natural light into the room, like one of the other solutions said, and put my kinect on the floor, but stacked on top of 4 game cases.

With this setup, I dont even think I missed one hit that I should've gotten. It may be different for you but just change your room around until you can get it to actually work.

Just a small note to "Flower Power" contest.

1) I never got any close to its completion with an artificial illumination. Never. Doesn't matter how many lamps were used. But completed it with a daylight almost instantly.

2) Don't do any tense movements at any stage. Just be relaxed (but swift of course).
