"Threw five snowballs in a row at your animal."

Use the snowball (can be found in the Shop, small balls) and hit your cub with it five times in a row. Take your time and you should be fine. Rushing it will not work. I waited until my cub was literally standing right in front of me for all five throws.

From comments: "Snowball can't be bought in the store until towards the end of the game."

First off, you will need to progress in the story mode until you unlock the Celestial Glacier location on the map. You may find you can unlock snowballs for purchase in the store a little earlier.

Once you can equip snowballs, let your cub start hanging out on the lower left side of the screen, he'll stay in this spot, especially if you pepper him quickly with snowballs because he'll act a little stunned.

I found that flicking my wrist in his direction, sort of underhand, not full motion, just flicking it at him, released the snowballs quickly and accurately. Easy achievement once you get the hang of it. Waiting to line up each throw as the cub runs around is pretty frustrating.
