How to unlock the An Old Friend achievement in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II - Definitive Guide
Upon reaching the horse farm in Semine, you’ll see a prompt to recognise your horse. Go and speak with the horse farmer and choose to be reasonable (icon with the smile face) and he will give you Pebbles back.
The first real main quest in KCD2 - after the prologue - is a quest called “Wedding Crashers,” whereby you’ll need to find a way into the wedding in Semine. There are two ways to approach this quest:
- Help the miller, Kreyzl who is southwest of Semine; or…
- Help the blacksmith, Radovan, who is Tachov, north of Troskowitz.
If you visit Radovan and agree to help him, you’ll find yourself in Semine looking for his missing cart and will naturally stumble upon Pebbles as part of this main quest - whereas if you help Kreyzl, you’ll have to make your own way there.
The Wedding Crashers quest - if you help Radovan - will lead you from Tachov down south to Semine, and will throw you into a fist fight with a drunken wedding relative. After that, you’ll get to meet Captain Gnarly.
Once you’ve spoken to Captain Gnarly, he’ll agree to help you look for the cart, but first, you’ll need a horse! As luck has it Groom Ballatay can be found on the southwest wall of the stables - you’ll get steered in that direction anyway. Ballatay will have a grey old nag for sale (it comes under “Cheap horse” when you speak to him), which turns out to be Pebbles, Henry’s horse!
Speak to him and either persuade him to give you the horse (“Be reasonable” works if you’ve got enough sway) or buy it for 160 Groschen. Do that and Pebbles will be all yours again!
Now, if you decide to help Kreyzl, you’ll have to seek out Groom Ballatay in Semine on your own. Either way, get Pebbles back and you’ll unlock the “An Old Friend” achievement.

If you fail to convince the groom, then the only option left is to buy Sivka. Fortunately, it is relatively inexpensive - only 150 groszy. Plus, you can try to bargain with Ballatay, reducing the price to 130-140 groszy.
