How to unlock the Bookworm achievement in Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Definitive Guide

The main difficulty of this is learning to read. Now I'm not sure if any scribe will do this, but I ended up in Uzhitz and talking to the innkeeper there he pointed me to the local scribe. You have to pay 50 groschen and it takes a bit of time, but yay now you can read.

After this just find books, buy them from scribes, steal them off bookshelves. Some specialists even have books that level the skills they specialize in (the millers for example have thievery related books).

You don't have to read skill books for this, any of the bland old knowledge books lying around will do. Once you read your 20th book the achievement should pop.

Hope this helps,

Let's keep cheevin' together!

You can actually make progress towards this achievement before learning how to read if you read the Treasure Maps. I got it when I had 19 books/maps read and opened up a new treasure map. Helpful for those who want to get started before the Mightier Than The Sword quest!

Potion recipes also work for this, mine popped when I learned Poison!

I had broken into Rattay's Rathaus prior to going to Uzhitz and learning how to read. I stole about 25 books in the library where Rattay's Scribe is sleeping. As soon as I learned how to read I read them all and popped the achievement in 10 seconds :) You don't need to turn the pages by the way, just open the book close it and on to the next ^^

I didn't even need to learn to read to get this, just pinched 20 plus books from the Rattay scribe (through the door that the bailiff sits next to) and opened them all once. Super easy 👌

First you have to learn how to read, because starting off, Henry is illiterate. I don't know if other scribes do the same, but the Scribe of Ulhitz (top left city) will teach you how to read for a handful of Groschen.

Scribes always have a ton of lore books you can flip through really easily.

In order to read books, you must first learn how to read. When you first visit the Bailiff in Rattay during the main quest "Keeping the Peace", you can ask him who can teach you to read. This will give you the side quest "Mightier than the Sword". Complete this quest to gain the ability to read. It will cost you 50 coin and a few days will pass.

Once you can read, you will need to find books. You can buy them from Scribes you encounter or they can be stolen/looted from various places. You should not have any issues finding 20 books to read but can also earn this without technically "reading" the books, because the recipes for the potions count towards this and you don't need to be able to read to learn them.

WARNING: Learning to read before obtaining the trophy Trial-and-error from the "From the Ashes" DLC will void it.

During the main quest “Keeping the Peace” in Rattay, you need to talk to the bailiff and ask him who can teach you how to read. He will tell you about an old clerk in Uzhitz who can teach you. This will unlock the side quest “Mightier than the Sword”, after completing which, just read 20 books, fortunately there are many more in the game

When, according to the story, you find yourself in a monastery and perform your daily monastic duties in the library and refectory, you will find a huge number of books. You can read everything there right away.

Not only books, but also notes and treasure maps are counted as assets. I got it right on the map

Reading alchemical recipes also counts.

If you want to remain uneducated (for the trophy of rebuilding a city uneducated), then simply buy steal recipe cards and learn them. Reading will remain at zero.
