How to unlock the Edward Kelly achievement in Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Definitive Guide

For this achievement, you may not have to own the potions recipes. I think you can just follow the instructions here :

https://www.primagames.com/games/kingdom-come-deliverance/ti...

If you want to own the recipes though, you'll need to buy at least 13 potions recipes and these recipes cost a lot. It can be up to 500 coin for a single recipe. Why 13 ? Because two recipes are given to you for free as soon as you progress into the story.

If money is a problem for you, I recommend drinking a Bard potion just before talking to the seller, it will help you haggling. The perk "Final Offer" will help too.

You want to find two specific herborists and buy these recipes from.
The first one is located in Rattay. The second one is located deep in the woods at the west of Uzhitz. Click Spoiler to see the precise locations on the map.

Once you have bought the recipe you needed, go to the closest alchemy bench and start brewing. From here you shouldn't have any problem. Just follow the recipe from the book which is usually on your right.

Before starting a long session of brewing make sure your energy and nourishment are high enough so you won't be disturbed. Also, make sure you have all you'll need.

You might want to know some other things.

-"One turn", "Two turns", "Three turns" means the number of times you have to press LT for "Bellows". You can press LT two or three times without waiting, effect is cumulative.
-You don't have to wait for the culdron to stop boiling completely, you can finish the potion while it's still boiling. It'll save time.
-The "still" tool is actually useless, so when it says "distil" you can just pick up the phial and end the potion brewing.
-The sandglass is useless too, and so is the dish.

If this achievement annoys you, just listen to some music while brewing, game sound isn't of any help here.

Hope this helps. Before putting a thumb down please make sure you comment on what is missing in this guide and I'll fix it. Also if you think this guide is good enough but you want to add something, I'll credit you.

Can confirm you do not need to know the recipes. Using the guide works and saves money.

I'm finding this to be very buggy. I have brewed and brewed and brewed but it won't pop. My stats page says I have brewed 36 unique potions (Must be counting ones that failed). Do I need to own the recipe prior to brewing. The above comments suggest otherwise....

If you have already brewed some potions but you are not sure wich, the Routine perks allows you to autobrew potions you already brewed, so you can check wich ones are left, if you have the recipes.

No need to buy anything. Just get good at lockpicking and steal everything that's not nailed down. Recipes are all over herbalist / alchemist locations. Make sure to steal ingredients too. Next, check your recipe book when brewing and check to see "prepare" which auto prepares ingredients. Keep brewing through potions until you get the achievement. It comes naturally. It's much easier doing it through progression than making a concerted effort in one swoop.

We're looking for 15 unique types of potions (track-able in the statistics tab under crafts)

Potion recipes can be somewhat hard to obtain, but gotten from scribes and apothecaries for a hefty stack of groschen. Then comes the trouble of actually brewing them. I definitely recommend saving between each one, as to save some rare and valuable resources. This gets substantially easier with the "trial and error" perk.

This has to be 15 different potions, you cannot brew the same one 15 times. You can brew potions by going to alchemy benches. You have to actually read the book and see what is needed make a potion and follow the instructions. Pick out your ingredients and then follow the steps by adding them to the pot, grinding them and/or boiling them for a certain time. Use the hour glass to time how many turns pass. It's pretty lenient on how long you boil it for so don't worry too much. Once you think you're finished, take one of the jugs from the bottom left of the bench to use to fill. You don't actually have to buy them, they're freely supplied.

You have a couple of recipes to start with and you can find more by doing the treasure maps, buying them from the shop or by progressing through the story as you'll get quite a few from progression. For the ingredients, you can buy them from the shop or go herb picking, which you should be doing anyway.

There are actually a lot more potions in the game; recipes can be bought from the pharmacist in Rattay and herbalists. The higher your alchemy, the more profit from it (potions of Living Water, Lazarus, Cat's Paws, Ox's Blood, etc., and of course dozens of schnapps for pennies). After levels 10 and 13, potions are brewed automatically and 3 at the same time, respectively (Rutin perks 1 and 2).

The fastest way to level up alchemy after getting a perk with a chance for error is to make schnapps:
1) pour wine;
2) take the nettles and put them in the cauldron;
3) take 2 belladonnas and put them in the cauldron;
4) pour into a flask.

To level up alchemy faster after you reach lvl 10 and learn the Routine 1 perk, you can prepare 2a potions at once automatically. It’s just that when you’re reading a book with a potion you’ve already learned, during the reading animation, you can hold down 2 times and instead of one auto potion you will get 2a)
