This will most likely come naturally as you end up making a ton of Spirits.
In the beginning of Traverse Town Sora is given a recipe and the items to make a spirit. When you switch to Riku he gets a recipe for a different spirit. So you are given two right off the bat for free. You just have to make one more.
You get a ton of items for making spirits off the enemies you defeat. You can wait until you find another recipe or you can go into the Create a Spirit Menu and combine items to make a spirit. What is nice is that the game shows you what spirit the items will make so you don't have to waste time making the same thing over and over.
Once you have 3 spirits created just go into the Change Party menu and set up the 3 spirits.
Spirits are shared between Sora and Riku so you dont have to worry about making everything twice.
