How to unlock the Black Hole achievement in Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning - Definitive Guide

This is the Lessons and Bones quest. To find each piece, here’s a video guide. Each piece must be acquired at night:

Now, once you have the armor, you’ll need to generate a combo of 100 void stacks. Each magic attack can yield between one and three towards the combo, depending on the power of the attack. However, there’s a large drawback to the armor: Every attack drains health. After a dozen or so uses, you may find yourself stopping to heal, which can interrupt your combo.

Here’s how I did it: I set Mark of Flame as one magic ability. I made sure that the D-pad was set to quickly access health potions. I then fast-traveled to Vekreth’s Maw, where you spawn on top of a small platform. In front of the platform are an ice bear and two Barghests. Without moving, I started spamming the Mark repeatedly, but did not detonate it. It barely damages the enemies, so building to 100 was easy. I would tap my D-pad whenever I was low on health and use a potion. Once it got over 100, I detonated it. After the combo faded back to 0, the achievement unlocked.

The only drawback was it took a couple of tries because the bear would rush me and interrupt the combo. I reloaded and tried again, and it worked. I went back later after they respawned, and it worked again.

I suspect it could work on almost any reasonably strong enemy, as long as you can sustain the combo. Let me know if it does, along with if my solution works or not, and I’ll alter or update this as needed.

Frustrating achievement. I had to do it about four times before it actually counted. Thanks for the guide.

I got it this morning, 4/27/22, though I took a few hits from the 2 Barghests but they didn't fully interrupt the combo so I kept going until I got over 100. The Bear attacked at first but because I moved away from it far enough it left me alone so all I had to worry about were the barghests.

Nice solution. It took 2 attempts to pop this bc I wasn't paying attention to my health bar the first time lol whoops

Here's a link for a guide to the Lessons and Bones quest. You will need this armor set for this achievement. No markers will appear on the map of where you need to go. The armor will be in a chest labeled Ruined Effigy or Coffin on the map and can only be obtained at night.

For this achievement, you will need to be wearing the full Abyss armor set, which is collected during the "Lesson of the Bones" side-quest. This quest doesn't have a marker or person who starts it, rather it gets added to your journal when you collect the first piece. It is also a bit unique as the pieces can only be collected "at night" (which appears to be after 8pm and up until about 4am), so you may need to fast travel a few times (each time advances the clock by two hours) or sleep in a bed to get the desired time. You will need a minimum of 35 points in the Sorcery skill tree to wear this armor.

Once you collect all four pieces and equip them, you will want to use any spell on an enemy which will add one stack of "Unholy Void" which increases your spell damage but also causes constant health loss. I'd suggest chugging a health regen potion prior to attempting, and be ready to swig a max health potion if needed. The easiest spell to use for this is Mark of the Flame. This can tag up to seven enemies at once, and will add a stack for each enemy. It also does almost no damage, so you can easily do this on one group of enemies. Continue marking the enemies until you have 100 stacks of Unholy Void, then hold the cast button to "detonate" the marks you have placed on them. This will kill the enemies and unlock the achievement.

See the video below for the location of all four armor pieces, and the method of unlocking it described above.
