How to unlock the Breaking and Entering achievement in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Definitive Guide

If you head North to the City of Rathir, The Common House

will be to your immediate West, once inside the Common House

head up the short stairs on your right and into the Storeroom.

In here you will find about 15 chests to pick and a LOT of

boxes to smash to smithareens! I was only Level 2 in

Lockpicking and still managed all the chests bar the Very

Hard ones. Take a few picks and voila!

Just so you know, it is called the customs house, not the commons house. Thumbs upped though. Helped me get the achievement.

There are plenty of locked chests scattered throughout the world so this one shouldn't be too difficult to grind out before the end of the game. To pick a lock you need to have a lockpick in your inventory and, 'gasp', a locked object.

Approach the object (typically a chest but doors count as well) and select it with X. From here you will enter the Lockpicking menu, which if you are familiar with games like this should come as no surprise and appear to be much easier than others. If you fail to pick the lock your lockpick will break and you can try again. Pick 50 locks successfully and this trophy is yours. Also note that using Prismere Lockpicks (a one shot item that automatically picks almost any lock) will count towards this trophy.

If you are really looking to finish this off as quickly as you can, you can head to the city of Rathir in the Plains of Erathell (it's the giant city appearing in the Northeast on your World Map). Enter the Common House and head West up the steps then into the Storeroom. Inside the room you will find roughly 15 locked chests to pick. Please note that some of these will be hard and very hard, but it is still a good place to finish grinding out this trophy.

Simply pick 50 locked chests. This will come in no time if you are searching for chests. A post with lockpicking help can be found HERE.

Throughout the world you will come across chests which are locked. Each chest has a difficulty, from very easy to very hard.

In order to open a locked chest, you’ll need lock picks. These can either be found or bought in shops. When you’ve found a locked chest, you can try to open it with the lock pick. Don’t worry though, even the very hard locked chests are pretty easy. Use the :rs: to move the lock pick and use the :ls: stick to move the slider at the top. You need to slide it all the way to the right without breaking it. If it begins to shake, you now it’s about to break.

There are 2 other ways to lock pick a chest. Either with Prismere lock picks, or by Auto-Attempt. With a Prismere lock pick, you can instantly open a locked chest, by pressing :square:. These lock picks are hard to obtain though. If you press :triangle: however, you can Auto-Attempt a chest. There’s a certain success rate however. If you fail, you’ll lose your lock pick.

If you want, you can upgrade your Lockpicking skill to make it very, very easy. Not only will Lockpicking itself become easy but an Auto-Attempt will always open a chest.

You can check how many chests you’ve lockpicked by going to the Status menu > Stats.
