How to unlock the Elixir of Fate achievement in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Definitive Guide

To get this you need an alchemy level of at least 5. After you have it up to lvl. 5 head to any Alchemy table and go to experiment. The components i used were these , 1 Cripplespore Cap , 1 Sky Blossom , 1 Star Thistle , and 1 Essence of Fate. It should create a Greater Phasewalk potion. Go to the Create menu of the alchemy table and select the Phasewalk potion to create it. The achievement should pop as soon as the potion is created.

Edit: As stated by Kendrene, you can harvest the Essence of Fate only from the enemies you kill during a Fateshift (the special state you can trigger by pulling LT and RT at the same time when your purple bar is full)

Edit: Also as stated by BuffMaster and Andrzej81 , E.O.F. can be found/harvested in south -west ETTINMERE region , and west of BALLADS ORATORY in small cave by the lake

Edit: Also as stated by PeteOzzy , you can buy the Alchemy increasing potion from Rathir, the massive city out to sea on the continent you begin the game on; it's a stall in the Merchant Circle that you should seek out. It at least saves some wasted points if you don't care for Alchemy but you can't drink multiple potions to stack the effect.

I got Alchemy to level 5, but I can't see the essence of fate in my reagents list when I open the alchemy bench. I posted a question on the KoA forums and was told you need alchemy level 7. Did you get to level 5 and then use a greater alchemist art to get you to level 7? Thanks

at lvl 5 the essence should appear on your top row of regents.

Odd, it wasn't there. I used a potion to boost my skill up to level 5. I wonder if that was the difference. I'll have to check when I get level 5 alchemy w/o a potion.

Just wanted to mention something. I don't know if anyone else had this problem, but this happened to me several times:

This cheevo did NOT pop for me when I created a master potion through experimentation. I tried experimentation with several different recipes and after several different game reloads, but no cheevo.

However, it DID pop immediately after I created a potion from a master recipe that I bought. Just thought you might wanted to mention that, if it doesn't pop through experimentation, you should buy a master recipe, and that should work.

Thanks for this Info Mortis. I did mine through experimenting and nothing popped. I'm gonna look for a recipe or see if I earned one by creating the one I did. It sucks because the create potion costs is more than experimenting...

You must find the recipe through experimenting (use the one in the solution), Then MUST go back a tab and create the potion, or else cheevo will not pop.

I used a Greater Alchemist's Art potion to get my Alchemy from level 3 to 5 and Essence of Fate did appear on my alchemy ingredient options, around the middle of the top row. Followed your instructions to the letter and got my achievement, cheers! Was worried at first when the achievement didn't pop but then realised you wrote that you have to make it from the create section after you've experimented for the recipe, my fault for not paying attention lol.

Don't know if you might want to add that you can buy the Alchemy increasing potion from Rathir, the massive city out to sea on the continent you begin the game on; it's a stall in the Merchant Circle that you should seek out. It at least saves some wasted points if you don't care for Alchemy but you can't drink multiple potions to stack the effect. Anyway, thanks very much for the guide, couldn't have got it without it :D

The simplest solution for this achievement requires a few things:

-Four (4) units of Essence of Fate
-10 Skill points (min. level of 10 for this method)
-Enough gold to use a Fateweaver

Step 1:
Save your game. After saving, use a Fateweaver to reset your points. I am level 20, and they cost for me between 3000-4000 gold. Once you've reset your points, put 10 points into Alchemy. You can put points into other sets if you have enough to do other achievements that require max skill level. Having top skill points in Alchemy reveals every recipe, which is nice.

Step 2:
Visit your local alchemy station. Tab over to "MASTER" level. At the top, you will see "POTION OF FATE". This requires four units of Essence of Fate. Create potion. Bleep-bloop.

Step 3:
Load game. You have your achievement and you've saved some gold.

Okay, to net this one you'll first obviously need some Essence of Fate reagents. Essence of Fate is acquired two different ways. The first is to simply collect it like you would off a plant just like any other reagent, however there are very few of these plants in the world and they tend to be closer to the end game areas of the game. Some earlier areas that only have one plant each are in the Southwest region of Ettinmere and west of the Ballads Oratory in a small cave here by the lake (guarded by a Crudok).

The other way to net this reagent (which is much more common) is to continually Fateshift enemies whenever your Fate meter is full. Every time you do this, there is a small percentage that an enemy will have an Essence of fate on their body which is able to be looted. If, like myself, you used your Fateshifting ability often, by the time you're level 20 you should have near a dozen of these already, but again it is a random percentage it will be on an enemy.

Either way, once you have Essence of fate there are a number of high level alchemy potions you can make with it. As with the other skills, you need to put some points into this one so using our standard fateweaver trick is recommended if you don't favor Alchemy in your character's playthrough (or using an Alchemy potion).

Once your Alchemy level is above 5 (allowing you to create potions with 4 reagents) then head to an Alchemy table and select "Experiment". If you only have one or two Essence of Fate then create the following recipe:
- 1 Cripplespore Cap
- 1 Sky Blossom
- 1 Star Thistle
- 1 Essence of Fate.

This will create a Greater Phasewalking potion (causes invisibility for a brief period of time).

Another FANTASTIC potion to have if you don't mind using 4 Essences of Fate is a Fate Potion (created by combining 4 Essences of Fate) This potion instantly refills your Fate meter to full and is extremely useful towards the end game.

I attempted your solution early, around level 12, without having the recipe and did not unlock the trophy. One level later, I obtained another essence and tried again, using the recipe I had previously created and the trophy unlocked. I don't know if that is an actual thing, but it happened to me.

@chargerstoph - Sounds like you might have encountered one of the (sadly) many glitches in the game. I remember a year or so back on the Xbox 360 version of the game where I had finished all the requirements for the "Green Thumb" achievement and wound up having to collect an additional 5 of some of the earlier reagents (I didn't keep exact track) before the achievement unlocked.

I can confirm you do not need to "know" the recipe for the trophy to unlock as I did not know a single reagent recipe and created a health potion and unlocked the other alchemy related trophy.

The Essence of Fate potions can all be made once your alchemy reaches level 5. Your character must be at least level 8 to reach this level of skill. Once you have done so, experiment with any of the four base ingredients listed HERE such as Bloodroot, Cohosh, and Embereyes. After you learn the potion, you must actually create it to get the achievement.

Making a potion with the Essence of Fate requires an Alchemy skill level of 7. Which also requires your character level to be at least level 8. The Essence of Fate is a rare item that can only be obtained as either rare drops in Reckoning mode or harvested from the relevant plant which only respawns every 4 in-game days.

When you've acquired at least 4 Essence of Fate and have the required Alchemy level, go to a Alchemy bench and select Create. From there you can create a Fate potion with 4 Essences of Fate or you can go to the Experiment tab and make a potion with the Essence of Fate and 3 other reagents. If you succeed, you'll first need to go back to the Create tab and search for the potion that you've just made. A level 10 Alchemy skill will also directly unlock all the recipes, which means you can skip the Experiment tab and go straight to the Create tab.

To get this trophy, you need to have an alchemy skill of at least 5. As soon as alchemy is level 5, you need to collect 1 Cripplespore Cap, 1 Sky Blossom, 1 Star Thistle and, of course, the Essence of Fate itself to create a Greater Phasewalk potion .

In the Russian version, these are the Lame Mushroom, Skyflower, Cornflower and Essence of Fate. Makes a medium invisibility potion.
First, select Experiment with the specified ingredients, and then go to Creation and select Recipe for a medium invisibility potion.
