How to unlock the Foiled Again! achievement in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Definitive Guide

In order to parry, you must have a shield equipped. Hit the left trigger to block as an enemy is about to attack you, right before the attack lands. If you time it right, you'll see a slight slowdown as your character blocks the attack and pushes the enemy back slightly. Do this 100 times over the course of the game and you'll unlock the achievement.

I don't think it can be done with any shield, i have used a mage my whole play through, in my stats screen it says i have blocked 771 attacks, but i have no achievement. Doesn't seem to be working for me idk why.

i found sprites to be the easiest to parry. they glow just before they are ready to charge.

Really? I'm pretty sure I had a Talisman equipped when my achievement popped. Are you sure you're actually parrying instead of just blocking?

All parries are blocked attacks, but not all blocked attacks are parries. Like the OP stated, a successful parry includes an animation that slows down the action on-screen, shows some "force lines" that actually push the enemy away from you. You can't just hold LT and hope to parry; you have to push it as an attack is just about to land on you.
The easiest guys to get this done with I think are the various boggarts. They basically broadcast when they're about to jump/strike, and it's not hard to get the parry timing down on these guys. The parry does very little damage, so you can get tons of successful parries out of a group of 5-7 boggarts, using only the parry damage to kill them. Once you get the parry timing down, the riposte achievement shouldn't be a problem once you get the ability to attack out of a parry.

Following on from ArcAngel017's suggestion, (I also never really bother with my shield) I found wolves were the easiest to parry as they have a very obvious pattern of attack, so pretty easy to get a rhythm going. As suggested, go back to one of the starter areas and run this - you can get quite a few parries out of a couple of wolves so this shouldn't take long to do. there's also plenty of wolves around ettinmere, kill the ettin and just run up the parry count on the wolves they normally have with them. (especially the shamans)

Without a doubt, wolves were the easiest to get this.

Another good area for wolves is the Cradle of Summer, in fact, when i was there i saw nothing but wolves.

If you are like me and have barely touched the left trigger, there is a very easy way to get this. I was level 15 and realized I hadn't parried a single time, so I went back to Odarath (the starting area) and just ran around to each group of enemies while parrying every attack. They barely do any damage by this point, so you don't need to worry about dying. I was using a talisman that did damage when I parried, so I had to run around the area finding more enemies, but the whole process only took about 15 minutes.

In order to parry, you must have a shield equipped. Simply press L1 to block as an enemy is about to attack you, right before the attack lands. If you time it right, you'll see a slight slowdown as your character blocks the attack and pushes the enemy back slightly. Do this 100 times over the course of the game and you'll unlock the achievement. I found that wolves tend to be a particularly good target as they charge constantly and there attacks are easy to follow.

Dang, I've been doing accidental parries throughout the game, now I know what they are.
Thanks!

To parry attacks you must have a shield equipped, then press and hold just as the enemy is about to hit you. You will know if you timed it correctly when the game slows down for about a half a second and the enemy is knocked backwards. It is important to note that you do not take damage from a proper execution of the parry defense, and thus you can farm parries on one enemy if you prefer a different style of combat. Simply repeat it 100 times for the achievement.

You’ll need a shield (might), talisman (sorcery) or buckler (finesse) for this. If an enemy attacks you, if you block by holding or pressing :l1: right when they’re about to hit you, you’ll perform a parry. When this happens, the game will go into a slow-motion for a brief moment and deal more damage than normal. If you’re having a hard time with this. One of the easier enemies would be a pack of wolves. When they howl and start to rush you, you know they’re about to attack. When they’re close, press or hold :l1:.

In order to parry an attack, you need to raise your shield a moment before the enemy hits you. If the parry is successful, the animation will be slow for a couple of seconds. 100 such parries and get a trophy.

There is a suspicion that different enemies need to be fended off. You can't fill one.

The trophy came out much later than the statistics showed, almost simultaneously with Riposte! Just keep parrying attacks with your shield until the trophy drops
