How to unlock the Green Thumb achievement in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Definitive Guide

External image

There are 19 reagents that you must harvest 10 times each (Looting or buying dose not count) Reagents are also on a 2 day respawn (Except for Seaflax which is 3 days) You do not need to harvest Essence of Fate, it's the only reagent that you do not need to collect for the achievement.

If you are farming a certain reagent remember that you can sleep in a bed to pass the time and make it spawn again.

Also you do not need to have 10 of everything in your inventory at once, you can sell/use anything you harvest and it will still count.

If you leave this achievement until one of the last achievements that you go for, it will be very simple. By then you will most probably only be missing one or two reagents of the 19, Which are the rarer ones like White Flake,Scarab Salts or Seaflax.

I suggest first doing the ones in Seawatch like the Seaflax. If you do that and don't get the achievement then start to do the White Flake and what ever else you think you might not have.

How to get the Castle (Seawatch)

To start this quest travel to Klurikon - SeaWatch, Note that you will be unable to travel here until you have completed the quest "Breaking The Siege"

Once inside speak with Byrn Elgar. He will inform you that the previous tenants have left the castle over time, he also mentions that you're the only one deserving of the Castle it's self. But he may be a little crazy... After talking to him you will begin the quest "Ghost of Seawatch"

Now on to getting back the rest of the staff, starting with Conni.

Part One:

Find Conni:
Locate the Fae woman "Conni", she is inside the prison of Castle Ansilla, Western section. However one dose not simply enter Castle Ansilla. You will need to run around the side of the Castle to locate a drain pipe to get inside.

When inside you should receive a quest from "General Fynn" But it is not required to free Conni.

Find the Dungeon Key:
Upon talking to Conni, she'll tell you to locate a key to the prison gate in the Eastern part of the castle.

Open the Dungeon Door & Talk to Conni:
Return to Conni with the key to free her, Conni will be available to train you in Master Alchemy (7-9) inside Seawatch now. Then return to Byrn Elgar, when you return to Byrn he will start the second part of the quest.

Part Two:

Find Erion Odi:
To find Erion Odi your second retainer (Healer), go back to the North section of the Caeled Coast(Klurikon) to Odi's Camp. The Sergeant is more then willing to leave but wants a replacement first. Seek out Private Cornall to the southwest and convince him to replace the Sergeant. Return to Odi who heads off to Seawatch.

Part Three:

Once that's handled, go for the last servant, a merchant named "Astor Colliani" he will be ransacking corpses for money in Mel Senshir. Talk to the gnome merchant and take the dagger (a war trophy) he wants from the soldier in the tavern her name is Fridi Edstar. You can attempt to buy or persuade her. Return with the dagger to the gnome and he will make his way to Seawatch.

Congratulations, you now own the best castle in all of Amular.

Locations for Reagents:

Seawatch is one of the best places to farm reagents once you get the castle and all the upgrades you get a massive garden with several different reagents, so just sleep in the bed at the castle and keep farming. Remember that reagents are on a 2 day respawn (Except for Seaflax which is 3 days)

Seaflax - Seawatch & Fallen Hall (End of House of Sorrows story line, about 6 can be found here.).

Ysa's Breath - Seawatch.

Embereyes - Seawatch.

Sativa Fibers - Seawatch.

Leechwood Bark - Seawatch.

Bloodroot - Seawatch.

Scarlet Flowstone - Seawatch.

Scarwood Bark - Seawatch.

Star Thistle - Seawatch.

Sky Blossom - Seawatch.

Tindertwig - Seawatch.

Black Cohosh - Allestar Tower, start of the game, also found basically everywhere.

White Flake - Shardfall, top left of Cradle of Summer inside cave.

Eel Petal - Allestar Tower, at least 2 on the way to first town. also found basically everywhere.

Scarab Salts - Shardfall.

Softscrabble Powder - The Court of Winter, final warp point in the game, just warp and turn around.

Cripplespore Caps - Stonecandle Mines, first mine at start of game, also found in most caves.

Edelweiss - House of Valor, 2 inside warp point, big white bush, also all over the desert.

Prismere Dust - The Court of Winter,Red Marches & Cynic Quarry in Apotyre.

If you find this solution to be unhelpful, please tell me why in a comment and I will update it the next time I'm online.

I found another location for Essence of Fate...there is one in a small alcove exactly north of Skycrown in Acatha, to the left of the bridge that becomes Galafor on the other side.

Im still relatively early in the game, is the ability / success rate for harvesting tied to the alchemy skill, or simple game progression?

alchemy skill will give you more chance to successfully harvest reagents, you should defiantly max this

You should remove essence of fate from your solution, you don't need it for this achievement. It says every reagent, but you don't need essence of fate.

Selling the plants doesn't matter, you must of missed one, you don't need 10 of each in your inventory for it to count you can sell them all. And if your counting them from what's in your inventory then some of them are probably looted.

I found 3 Prismere Dust plants in Cynic Quarry in Apotyre, and there's 1 Essence of Fate inside the waterfall in Acatha next to the big rock thing on your map. I put all my skill points on Alchemy, harvested, saved and slept for 48 hours. Rinse and repeat. Hope this helps. :))

what's the minimum ammount of points to put into alchemy in order to increase the chance of harvesting the regents? right now I've got 4 points in alchemy & I don't want to wait until I've finished the main quest & use a fate weaver to respec.
0
0
By wolfzero01 on 23 Feb 2012 23:53
@wolfzero01 ----- I don't understand? You should max the alchemy the higher it is the more chance you have to harvest. Fate weavers only cost about 7000$ for the first time, depending on your level. By the time you reach level 40 you can max like 6-7 skills i think it was and get a fair amount of points on the rest.

A good place to get Prismere Dust early is in the Red Marches. There is one near each entrance at the Tomb of Fyrangnos and the Galette Tunnels. After getting both, you can go to Galette to sleep for 48 hours and do it again.

just a few observations.
There was no quest to get into Seawatch, but there was a quest to get into Castle Ansilla (where u must convince the first patron of the castle to join ur cause) Just talk to the npc General Fynn who will be at the bottom of a jump location very close to the castle entrance to gain access to the castle through the sewer system then follow the questline regularly.

There were no persecution attempts unfortunately but there were a few persuasions lol

There is a softscrabble powder at the entrance to Shardfall (since ull be there anyways for the scarab salts and white flake)

Also if you're like me and only needed a few more Prismere Dust samples, then after you collect the ones inside the winter court go back outside and follow the trail. there are at least 6 more or so scattered down the trail. Always save before you collect. If you fail, a 10 second reload is much quicker than traveling somewhere so u can sleep and then coming back to allow the uncollected item time to respawn.

Another location not in the guide for SSP is northeast of House of Ballads in the thin path to Windemere. there are at least 3 samples there. along with several slightly tougher to spot samples in the Summer's End area.

I would suggest you include a more detailed explanation of how to actually gain access to Castle Ansilla, because by reading, "Locate the Fae woman Conni, she's inside the dungeon of Castle Ansilla, Western section. You may want to combine this quest with The Lost Squad and The Lady's Children." Just didn't cut it, I found the Pipe to the Castle Ansilla by pure chance.

By XxSpazemxX on 19 May 2012 07:03
@originalKILLJOY - When you receive the "No Reagent found" msg, that means you did not harvest anything due to your skill being too low. It dose not matter how many Reagents are in your bag, you can buy and sell them as you please and it will not effect this achievement. But you MUST harvest only Not buy or find in chests or loot from monsters, HARVEST 20 of each of the 19 Reagents that means you must receive the msg saying something like "Seaflax harvested" 20 times on each plant. Hope this helped.

There is a bug in the main story questline making the following achievements unobtainable for that playtrough:

Destiny Defiant
Green Thumb
Loremaster
Destiny Dominated

A fix is intended for this glitch as announced per 16-05-2012

source: http://forums.reckoning.amalur.com/showthread.php?5901-Repor...

*spoiler alert*

The glitch occurs when a player destroys any of the tuata mirror/crystals (after the Hero of Mel Senshir achievement in the new area which unlocks then) before the main quest "Silence Falls" is obtaind and/or inactive.

ok, this achievement is NOT glitched. people just seems to be stupidly confused.
here's the deal: FORGET YOUR INVENTORY. DONT LOOK AT IT.
make a notepad and write down what you HARVESTED.

the thing is, sometimes you harvest and you get multiple plants. i once got 4 edelweiss from one single harvest. but it only counts ONCE for the achievements, not 4 times.
so, looking at how many plants you have in your inventory will only confuse you.

and max out your alchemy skill. at least while you hunt this chievo.

1) fate is NOT needed
2) max your alchemy
3) count the times you got "xxx harvested", NOT what is in your inventory

0
By Phoenix C64 on 06 Aug 2012 22:13
BTW: the one that made my chievo go POP was a Scarwood Bark from Seawatch. And I had 67 in my inventory, so you see, as I said before: ignore your inventory and make a manual list.
oh and for those that are paranoid like me and want to GATHER 10 essence of fate, just in case, check this guide, takes 10min. max. once u know the locations:

I had about 96 white flake after finishing the main game and only about 20 scarab salts. I figured scarab salts is all I needed. Therefore, Shardfall was how I finished off this achievement. I didn't get the achievement until I had 105 white flake... It would seem that white flake is rare to pick, but common on loot...

How do I start "Breaking the Siege"?

Long time since, but just so people know, I found Seaflax as early as Agnur Farhal (east of Gorhart) right near the entrance. There is also one in Cathrus (cave in south eastern Webwood) . I've been playing on Steam, and for some reason this bugged so I did a replay and discovered that you don't have to go all the way through the plot to get to it if you're just going for this one. I hope this saves someone some time someday.

Apart from that though it's a perfect solution.

Is anyone else having this problem/glitch?: the plants in Seawatch do not bloom after the initial harvest, I can harvest them every 2 days as normal, but they always look as though they have been harvested, they never bloom.

There is an absurd amount of Seaflax up for farming in Fallen Hall (end of House of Sorrows story line). The hall leading up to Myrcyr is lined with Seflax on both sides (I think about 6 plants in total).

Rather than sleeping 72 hrs at a time to harvest 1 Seaflax plant in Seawatch, one run through the Fallen Hall would probably be a better use of time... you will need to go there anyway to finish the House of Sorrows achievement.

am near the end of the game and have at least 20 of all 19 reagents in my Reagent bag, but the achievement hasn't popped. So not having 10 of each reagent in the reagent bag is enough for this achievement I gather?

Note that I have very low Alchemy score and many times when I harvest these reagents, I get the message "No Reagent found". Does that have something to do with it? What does that message mean? Does it mean that even though I placed this item in my reagent bag, that it doesn't count toward the achievement? Does it mean my alchemy score is not high enough?

Or could it be that some of these reagent counts are greater than 10 due to looting and not actual "harvesting"? In that case, how will I know which one needs to be harvested more?

lol Tumbs up! Its not glicthed! I stand corrected! I had taken over 2500 but i realised that i had probably not seen enough prismere dust. It was all this talk about all the others that made me think so. I just forgot that prismere dust even though i had over 17 was mostly taken from fallen enemies etc. So if anyone struggle with this one its more likely prismere dust.

That is if they do all the quests and pick up ever chest like I do in all games. I just got the achievement at the end of the game.

By my count there is exactly 10 seaflax in Fallen Hall, 7 White Flake in Shardfall and 12 Scarab Salts in Shardfall.

Some tips:
- Don't start this until you've discovered a decent part of the world. Fast traveling is WAY easier than running.
- Max out your alchemy skill. See a fateweaver if you have to.
- Have a piece of paper next to you, and write down the name of each reagent. Every time you HARVEST one (not buy/loot/reward), count it down to keep track.

Scarab Salts was the hardest for me, so, visit Shardfall dungeon 4-5 times, when you have a medium to high alchemy skill.

There is 19 reagents that you must harvest 10 times each (Looting or buying dose not count) Reagents are also on a 2 day respawn (Except for Seaflax which is 3 days) You do not need to harvest Essence of Fate, it's the only reagent that you do not need to collect for the achievement.

You need to harvest (not just find/loot) ten each of the reagents below. Putting points into Alchemy will increase the chance of harvesting. All harvest points will respawn after some time, so sleep at a bed if you need to use the same spawn points. Names and locations are as follows (note that you have to complete a side quest to rebuild Seawatch before reagents will spawn there):

  • Bloodroot - Seawatch, located to the left of Caeled Coast on the map.
  • Seaflax - Seawatch.
  • Scarlet Flowstone - Seawatch by alchemical lab.
  • Scarwood Bark - Seawatch.
  • Sky Blossom - Seawatch.
  • Tindertwig - Seawatch.
  • Black Cohosh - Allestar Tower, start of the game, also found basically everywhere.
  • White Flake - Shardfall, top left of Cradle of Summer, inside cave.
  • Eel Petal - Allestar Tower, at least 2 on the way to first town in the game.
  • Scarab Salts - Shardfall.
  • Star Thistle - Seawatch.
  • Softscrabble Powder - The Court of Winter, final warp point in the game, just warp and turn around.
  • Sativa Fibers - Seawatch.
  • Cripplespore Caps - Stonecandle Mines, first mine at start of game, also found in most caves.
  • Edelweiss - House of Valor, 2 inside warp point, big white bush, also all over the desert.
  • Ysa's Breath - Seawatch.
  • Embereyes - Seawatch.
  • Leechwood Bark - Seawatch.
  • Prismere Dust - The Court of Winter.

The only exception to the Harvest rule seems to be Essence of Fate. This can be looted from bodies after using Reckoning and it counts toward your ten. More help with this achievement can be found HERE. If at the end of the game you don't have this achievement, sell all your reagents and then start Prismere Dust, harvesting ten of everything. Do not loot anything other than Essence of Fate! This will help you easily earn the achievement.

There are a total of 20 different reagents, but 19 count for the trophy (essence of Fate isn't required). To harvest reagents, you’ll have to walk up to different plants scattered throughout Amalur and harvest them by pressing :cross:.

You will either get a reagent, or find no reagent at all. The higher your Alchemy skill, the higher the chance you’ll harvest a reagent. With a level 10 Alchemy skill, you pretty much harvest a reagent all the time.

You can check all your reagents by going to your Inventory menu > Items > Crafting > Reagent Bag. The list keeps track of all your found and looted reagents, not just the one's you've harvested, so it isn't very accurate.

Reagents:
  • Bloodroot
  • Seaflex
  • Scarlet Flowstone
  • Scarwood Bark
  • Sky Blossom
  • Tindertwig
  • Black Cohosh
  • White Flake
  • Eel Petal
  • Scarab Salts
  • Star Thistle
  • Softscrabble Powder
  • Sativa Fibers
  • Cripplespore Caps
  • Edelweiss
  • Ysa's Breath
  • Embereyes
  • Leechwood Bark
  • Prismere Dust

If you're not sure how many of each you've harvested, sell all your reagents and start to harvest (and don't pick up any as loot) 10 of each reagent. Start with the one's which you had the least of. (Such as Prismere Dust for example.) However, only do this if you haven't obtained this trophy when you've pretty much obtained all the other trophies.

An other great place to harvest most of the reagents is Castle Seawatch. You'll need to upgrade it first via a quest though.

The rarest trophy in the game and the most talked about, it is considered by many to be glitchy. However, it is neither buggy nor complex.

Conditions for receiving it:

  • it is necessary to collect 10 copies of reagents of each type, except for Essence of Fate (i.e. 19 types out of 20)
  • Only those reagents that you collect directly from the bush count (those purchased, found in chests, enemy corpses, etc. do not count)
  • You don’t have to have reagents with you, all collected during the game are taken into account
General recommendations:

  • from the beginning of the game, collect reagents from bushes by running past them, useful for both alchemy and trophies
  • pump up alchemy to maximum values, because the probability of collecting a reagent from a bush depends on the value of the skill, it will save a lot of time (in the middle of the game 4-6, by the end up to 9-10)
  • Of course, it makes sense to be one of the last to receive it, because... a lot of things will already be collected during the passage of the game and the map should already be open (Alabastra should also be almost all open)
  • All bushes in the game are renewable, the respawn time of reagents is 48 hours. To renew your bushes, sleep on a bed.
  • when you decide that it’s time to get a trophy, it makes sense to dump all the reagents into junk and start taking them only from bushes for general visual statistics.
  • Reactants grow in certain areas and are encountered with varying degrees of frequency. If you systematically collect herbs from the bushes from the beginning of the game to the end, this trophy will most likely drop out on its own. However, if it does not fall out, it is recommended to start with the selected reagents, as the rarest (primarily Prismere Dust).
List of reagents, taking into account their rarity (rare ones are highlighted) and an indication of where to look:

  • Prismere Dust - The Court of Winter. Dark Glow Caverns (Shadow Pass)
  • Tindertwig - Seawatch, according to the quest you need to rebuild it first.
  • Sativa Fibers - Seawatch, Scholia Arcana Rathir (more recommendations )
  • Leechwood Bark - Seawatch
  • White Flake - Shardfall.
  • Scarab Salts - Shardfall
  • Seaflax - Seawatch (more recommendations )
  • Bloodroot - Seawatch, Scholia Arcana Rathir
  • Scarlet Flowstone - Seawatch
  • Scarwood Bark - Seawatch
  • Sky Blossom - Seawatch
  • Black Cohosh - Allestar Tower.
  • Eel Petal - Allestar Tower.
  • Star Thistle - Seawatch. Scholia Arcana Rathir
  • Softscrabble Powder - The Court of Winter. Scholia Arcana Rathir
  • Cripplespore Caps - Stonecandle Mines.
  • Edelweiss - House of Valor.
  • Ysa's Breath - Seawatch. Scholia Arcana Rathir
  • Embereyes - Seawatch

Got it at 10th hour of the game. Just as I progressed through the quests, I collected everything I saw, and also calmly made potions. Alchemy leveled up to level 5. Version of the game for ps4.

I would like to add that reagents collected from enemy corpses are not taken into account. Only those reagents that you collected, so to speak, from the bushes are taken into account. It is impossible to see such statistics on loot anywhere, and by the end of the game it is impossible to understand exactly how many reagents of each type you collected from the bushes. Therefore, it will probably be easier at the end of the game to throw all the reagents into the chest and collect everything again.

I also draw your attention to the fact that you do not need to collect Essence of Fate to get the trophy. The trophy will drop even without 10 collected such reagents from the bush.

It might be useful.

The reagents in Dzhanka and in Items are summed up. After beating the game, I decided to collect the Herbs anew, putting the old ones in Junk. And they gave me the trophy before I collected 10 pieces of each Reagent.

If you collected every second flower by hand, then you will have enough to collect the rarest ones. I looked at which flowers I had the least and started collecting them first. The result is a list in descending order:

Essence of Fate - https://amalur.wikia.com/wiki/Essence_of_Fate

Prismere Dust - https://amalur.wikia.com/wiki/Prismere_Dust

Scarab Salts - https://amalur.wikia.com/wiki/Scarab_Salts

Bloodroot - https://amalur.wikia.com/wiki/Bloodroot

Sky Blossom - https://amalur.wikia.com/wiki/Sky_Blossom

Tindertwig - https://amalur.wikia.com/wiki/Tindertwig

Leechwood Bark - https://amalur.wikia.com/wiki/Leechwood_Bark

Follow the links and look at the Locations section.

Reagents cannot be thrown into a chest. I advise you to just throw all the weed into junk, just don’t destroy it by accident
It will also be useful to know that there are a total of 20 types of reagents in the game, including Fate. You need to successfully collect 10 of each type. Respawn of bushes - 48 hours, it is convenient to finish off the remaining reagents - just sleep for 2*24 hours

Edelweiss - House of Valor, 2 inside warp point, big white bush, also all over the desert.

Ysa's Breath - Seawatch, Allestar Glade, The Sidhe, Lorca-Rane.

Embereyes - Seawatch, Allestar Glade.

Leechwood Bark - Seawatch, Allestar Glade.

Prismere Dust - The Court of Winter.

I advise you to print this list. Thanks to Mr. pRedAcToR .

Some respawn as they write: rest 2 times for 24 hours, but for example Seaflax respawns in 72 hours, so it’s better to rest 3 times. I also personally noticed that if you collect bushes while running, there is a chance that the reagents will not be found, so when searching for rare components it is better not to rush. And don’t forget to level up your Alchemy skill to the maximum.
