How to unlock the Keep on Rising achievement in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Definitive Guide

To restore Gravehal Keep you must talk to a dwarf named Padrig Dower in Cape Solice. This will start a Quest line to fully restore the keep. He will ask you to gather materials an obnoxious number of times in order to build add-ons to the keep. Additionally you must wait a certain amount of time before he send you out to get more. You can either do other things and return when it says he's finished or sleep in the bed at the top floor of the thrown room to pass time.

Just to manage expectations: there are 6 build quests where you need to fetch materials. And additionally convince some people to come to the keep.

As soon as you get to Cape Solace, speak with the gnome to begin this quest line. You will want to watch for any item labeled "Bundle of" while looting, as these are the materials he will ask for to upgrade. Each section of the keep will require a 15-20 minute wait in real time (or just sleep for 24 hours game time) before the upgrade is complete and you can turn in the next set of materials, so start this early and keep checking back while you do the main quest line. The final quest will not be available until you've stolen The Requiem during the main quest.

If you don't have the materials he needs right away, be sure to make this quest your active one and your map will be marked with loot locations that have what you're missing.

Note: The final upgrade cannot be obtained until after the "Dark Harbor" quest has been completed.

You can start the Gravehal Keep faction quest line by talking to Padrig Dower. He's the dwarf located in Cape Solace, the first village you’ll visit in the Dead Kel DLC. There are a total of 14 quests in the Gravehal Keep faction. 7 of which are required for the trophy (the remaining quests are (never ending) tasks):
  • Gravehal Keep
  • Restoring Gravehal
  • Gravehal Armory
  • Gravehal Tunnels
  • Gravehal Library
  • Gravehal Gallery
  • Gravehal Tower

Each one of these quests requires you to obtain a certain 'bundle of' items. These bundles can be found through the whole Dead Kel DLC, so be sure to pick up any you find. It’s easier if you start these quests while doing the Main quest line or any other quest for that matter. Once you’ve obtained the required amount, go back to Gravehal Keep and talk to Padrig. He will then start the construction, which will take 1 in game day. (You’ll get notified once he’s done.) You can choose to wait it out, do other stuff or use the bed in the Gravehal Keep and sleep 1 day. (The bed is available after the completion of the 'Restoring Gravehal' quest.) If you can’t find any of the required bundles, you can always set the quest as active and it will show you locations on the map where to acquire the bundles.

In total you need:
  • 11 Bundles of Sailcloth
  • 14 Bundles of Emberwood
  • 12 Bundles of Beachstone
  • 13 Bundles of Seasteel
  • 9 Bundles of Bearhide

Upon arrival on the island, you will meet a gnome who will invite you to walk with him to the Gravehal Keep fortress. The fortress is in decline, and the dwarf will offer to restore it. Quests to restore the fortress will be displayed in the faction quests section. All tasks are elementary: we find three or four types of objects on the island (they are marked on the map), bring the gnome, wait a day, and get an update to the fortress. We repeat until the fortress is completely restored and the dwarf invites you to sit on the throne (take the reins of the fortress).
