How to unlock the Master of the Forge achievement in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Definitive Guide

This achievement is actually quite simple provided you have the skill needed to accomplish it. You will need 7 ranks in the Blacksmithing skill. Once you do simply ensure you have 4 crafting components (personally by Level 14 I was able to craft most items successfully with my stock of parts) and 1 gem for socketing into the item you are creating. Remember gems need to be of a certain type (weapon, armor or utility) so plan ahead what you are going to make to ensure you have the appropriate gem. Then simply enter the forge, select the item you wish to create and as soon as the naming screen appears the achievement will unlock.

A helpful tip - if, like myself, you did not have all the ranks you needed in Blacksmithing, a great tip is to make a separate game save, then head to a Fateweaver and reset your stats. You can then pump as much as you want into Blacksmithing (I maxed that track and put the rest into Sagrcrafting to make Gems) and you can nab this achievement much earlier in the game if you would like to.

if you are short on crafting components simply salvage components from each item in your inventory. create a save first and you can reload and get all your old equipment back (but obviously won't have the item you just crafted for the achievement).

If you don't have enough points in Blacksmithing but have leveled up your Alchemy, you can create a Greater Blacksmith Craft potion and temporarily up your rank so you can make the item.

As you get items you can visit the blacksmith/forge and salvage parts from them to make more gear for your character. The higher your level of Blacksmithing, the higher the item quality you can salvage - white, green, blue, purple will each offer better components with which to make new items. You will need to be at a minimum of level 16 and a level 10 in Blacksmithing before you can get this achievement. You'll need to have one of each component types, including gems, available for whichever type of item you're trying to make. Go through your list once you reach level 10 in Blacksmithing and you should have enough for something. If not, keep playing and visit some vendors to fill up your component bag a bit and try again.

Crafting an item with all 5 forge components requires a Smithing skill level of 7. Which also requires your character level to be at least Level 8. Go to a Blacksmithing forge and choose Craft. Find yourself an item which has all the Required and Bonus materials highlighted. Select it and select whatever 5 components you want to use. Select to craft it and rename it if you want. If you don’t have enough materials, either buy them at a merchant, or find them through looting chests/enemies etc. The very last bonus material needs to be a gem. If you don’t have a gem, you can either find them, buy them or make them yourself (see the Romancing the Gem trophy).

To obtain the trophy, you need a Blacksmithing skill of at least level 7. It will give you the opportunity to use precious stones (the fifth component) when forging. All that remains is to find 4 weapon/armor components and the corresponding stone - the trophy is yours.

There are potions that briefly increase the skill of a player of one branch or another, just drink it and do whatever you want on the anvil
