How to unlock the Open Sesame achievement in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Definitive Guide
Here goes a quick way to lower the TA ratio on this achievement. . .
The quickest and easiest way to dispel 50 wards is to travel to DETYRE, (on the map it is the central red area). Your goal is Adessa which is in the South East corner against the coast, (its a big gnome city). Once you are there you will run across a long bridge and by a gnome named Apotyre. Keep running South and on your map you will see a South Central circular part and the bottom doorway of this ring is the entrance to Laboratories. When you enter the first gnome, (named Daedinnear), will give you a quest to dispel the wards on 3 chests up the stairs to the left. The best part is that you can exit and reenter the laboratories and dispel them over and over and he even pays you for each one!

Just came on to post this and see you beat me to it. To add to your solution though, you do not need to exit and reenter the laboratories, simply choose the dialogue option of "I'm ready for more" and the boxes will have wards on them again.
*note as you dispel more boxes they will increase in difficulty.

Whoever downvoted this is a schmuck. Great solution.

Much like the Pick 50 locks trophy, playing through the game normally and wanting to loot everything should net you this trophy naturally. As I put absolutely no points into Dispelling until level 9 or so, I made sure to save before opening any warded chests.
For those looking for an easy way to grind this one out, head to Adessa, the main city in the area of Detyre (Red wasteland look area on the southern part of the world map. Once you arrive in the city, head south and on your map you will see a South Central circular part. The building in this area you are heading for is The Labrotories. When you enter, a gnome named Daedinnear will give you a quest to dispel the wards on 3 chests up the stairs to the left. Once you have dispelled these chests, return to him and select the "I'm Ready for More" dialogue option. From here you can continually remove the wards off these chests until you net the trophy.
Keep in mind you can always use a Fateweaver to reset your skills and stats (for a price), put points into this ability, net the trophy, then restore your abilities at a Fateweaver once more. Making a save before doing so is a helpful option on this trophy hunt.

Absolutely lovely place to grab the trophy. I was at 20 or so Dispells, left the city with bang on 50, and there were still more chances to do the quest.

Wards can be found throughout the world. They are found as glowing purple objects. You will play a mini-game where a cursor will loop around a ring and you must time hitting the button as the cursor goes over the top of the runes in places. As the runes get more difficult you must time your rune activation to be in flow as some runes offer less time until they deactivate. You'll also have to avoid the red runes or it will fail. Invest a few points into the Dispelling skill to make this a bit easier.
Runed objects can explode if you fail.
***MISSABLE***
If you fail to dispel a ward, you'll still be able to loot it, but it won't count as a dispel. There are many wards, so you can't really miss this trophy, but if you're going to fail every single one of them, you might have a hard time getting 50 dispels, since chests and wards don't reset. (There's however, a really easy trick to obtain many dispels. See the related video.)
Instead of normal locked chests, you can also find wards. These are chests locked with a certain magic. These wards need to be dispelled. Each ward has a difficulty, ranging from very easy to very hard. However, compared to lockpicking, this can actually be hard.
When you’re about to dispel a ward, circles (wards) will appear and a timer. Before the green timer runs out, you’ll have to activate every ward. However, each individual ward also has a timer. Before one runs out, you’ll have to activate all the other wards. If you fail to do so in time, you’ll have to dispel that ward again. If you miss click, you’ll have to activate all the wards again. If you fail to do so before the green timer runs out, the ward will blow up, damaging and cursing you. It will also blow up if you dispel a red ward. You’ll still be able to loot the ward afterwards though. If you want to get rid of the curse, you’ll have to see a healer or use a potion.
You can also Auto-Attempt it, if you fail, it will blow up. If you want, you can upgrade the Dispelling skill, which makes it very easy.
You can check how many you’ve unlocked by going to the Status menu > Stats. All 50 dispels have to be done on one save file (character).
There’s also a very easy trick to obtain many dispels with wards which won’t blow up or curse you and it will even grant you some money:
Find Daedinnear in the Laboratories, Adessa. He will give you a quest to dispel 3 wards. Once you're done, complete the quest. You'll be able to repeat this quest multiple times (it's not infinite though). The wards do become harder to dispel though. It's advised to save before dispelling, so you can benefit fully from this. Also, you might want to see a Fate Weaver and reset you skills. Put 10 points in the Dispelling skill, so that you can auto-attempt each ward 3 times with a 50% success rate each try.

easy to get in alessa. in the laboratory, find the gnome who gives the quest for despeling 3 chests. The quest repeats

The option with the gnome is not exactly a freebie since the difficulty level of the chests increases each time three times very easy, three times easy and so on

Not a problematic trophy at all. pump a few points into your dispatching skill. Before each dispel, save, in case of failure, load, autodispel and all that.
