How to unlock the Shock and Awe achievement in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Definitive Guide

To obtain this achievement, you must get a killing blow with a special ability 100 times. The special abilities are the ones you have mapped to your UI and must pull the right trigger to use, NOT the special charge or block attacks with certain weapons. Refer to And Then There Were None for more information.

EDIT: Sustained abilities seem to not count toward this achievement. Thanks to Dream Fiend for pointing this out.

For the record, I'm pretty sure that sustained abilities do not count towards this as I killed well over 100 enemies with Battle Frenzy toggled on last night and never got it.

Sure does! Any ability that is not sustained. For me, I use Storm Bolt, Harpoon, and Quake.

Earning this trophy will have you perform the killing blow on any enemy with a special ability 100 times. A special ability is an ability that can be mapped to one of your quick UI slots (accessed by holding down L2 then pressing the corresponding Face button). The game automatically gives everyone a point in the Storm Bolt ability during the tutorial of the game so those not wanting to commit to other abilities can simply spam this one.

Remember that it doesn't matter how you injure enemies, as long as the killing blow is from an ability you're good to go. Also note that sustained abilities do not count towards this trophy.
