In the town of Gorhart inside The Corner Shop you will find a Blacksmith forge. Simply walk up to it and activate it. Then select Craft from the menu. You need to have enough crafting materials to create the items.
For me personally (playing a rogue build) I did not put any points in Blacksmithing yet but was still able to make a few pieces of armor. I looted a Greaves Core and a Lining off of some dead bodies / chests found in the world and was able to construct a pair of Greaves pretty early on in the story. After you create your first item, the achievement will unlock.
If you're struggling for components, there are a few Blacksmith supplies in the chest to the left of the forge. It is not a crime to loot from this chest.

you can also go to the blacksmith forge, and select the salvage option. it seems to be based on chance, as the weak stuff in your inventory doesn't give you anything at least when I did it I got nothing, but you will be able to get some components to create with.

Yeah the only issue is not all races begin with skill points in Blacksmithing. To salvage you need a point in Blacksmithing so this was a good option for people not leveled up enough.

This achievemen is very simply go to a Blacksmithing Forge, choose Craft and then craft whatever item you are able to craft. Components for crafting can be bought by merchants or looted from enemies. Depending on your Blacksmithing skill you can get components from salvaging unneeded equipment and depending on your Detect Hidden skill you can salvage traps to get new components.

Find a Blacksmithing forge and choose Craft. Find yourself an item which has both the Required materials highlighted. Select it and choose whatever materials you have. If you don’t have any required materials, you either need to find them yourself in chests, dropped loot or buy them at a store.
