How to unlock the Trapper achievement in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Definitive Guide
After you spend 5 points in the finesse skills, you'll unlock the 2nd tier of those skills. This will unlock the Frost Trap, a trap you are then able to lay on the ground during combat.
Once the skill is unlocked just keep using it on enemies until you've killed 25 of them and this achievement is yours. A good note to remember is that you can weaken enemies with other weapons first, you just have to make sure the trap makes the killing blow.
A helpful confirmation from user SashaQ - The rogue skill "Gambit" unlocked on the last tier of the rogue skill tree also counts towards this achievement.

Certainly. First you may need to assign the skill to your RT menu (the same as the spell Storm Bolt is assigned to). This is handled in the game's start menu, the need to select the skills menu and it will pull up your Might, Finesse and Sorcery skills. Then you simply have to navigate to the trap icon on the finesse page and you will get an option to assign it to either A, B, X or Y once you press RT. Assign the skill to wherever you want and back out of that menu. You now can use the trap just like your Storm Bolt spell at anytime by pressing RT then the corresponding button. After that it's simply a matter of using it in combat and you should be good to go.

If you have downloaded the DLC: Teeth of Naros, there is a side quest called "Of My Own Invention" that you receive from a guy named Pagus. You can find him in the living quarters section of Idylla. Basically, you kill rats with a series of traps that he has laid out for you. You can get the achievement this way, if you don't wish to invest skill points in the frost trap. Please leave a reason why if you happen to vote negative

I got this in about 15 minutes. After you get the frost trap skill (and maybe upgrade it a few times), just go back to one of the earliest areas and use it exclusively against the enemies.

Also there is a quest in the DLC Teeth of Naros which you can use to net this trophy as well. The quest is called "Of My Own Invention" and will have you clearing rats from a cellar with traps already laid out. As long as these traps get the killing blows you will unlock this trophy.
Keep in mind you can always use a Fateweaver to reset your skills and stats (for a price), put points into this ability, net the trophy, then restore your abilities at a Fateweaver once more.

The first trap that you will have access to is the Frost Trap on the right side of the Finesse tree. It will take 6 points to get this ability and more for it to start being lethal. The following skill, Icy Explosion, will add to its damage modifiers making this achievement easier to obtain. To use your ability hold and the corresponding button to which you have mapped the trap. These can be laid in combat.
This requires the Frost Trap ability from the Finesse tree, which requires at least 5 ability points in the Finesse tree before it unlocks. You need to be at least level 2. Map the ability to your UI, by pressing and map it to one of the four face buttons (, , or :triangle). Find yourself an enemy and start laying down traps, by holding and press the corresponding face button. Either search for weak enemies (grey names) which you can instantly kill with the traps, or deal some damage first, run away and lay down a trap to finish them off. To deal extra damage, you can also unlock the Icy Explosion ability, which requires a total of 20 ability points in the Finesse tree before it unlocks. You need to be at least level 7. If you’re playing as a different destiny, make a new save file of your current character. Go see a Fate Weaver and reset your destiny. Once you’ve obtained the trophy, reload your save.

To be able to set traps, you need to pump 5 talent points into the Finesse tree before receiving Frost Trap. To get the trophy you need to kill 25 enemies using these traps.

The guy's name is Pagus. Lives in Idylla Living Quarters.

you need to kill with traps. if you left this trophy for later or you have a different fate, just go to the nearest fate reset, reset, pump points into Finesse for ice traps, then go farm easy mobs from the first locations. traps will quickly destroy monsters.
