How to unlock the Nightmare Crystal achievement in Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series - Definitive Guide

This trophy is awarded for defeating the final boss in the normal story mode.

He has three phases. In the first phase you are on a circular platform around the boss and you need to throw enemies in towards five cannons in a circle around the boss, arming each of them. The boss will spit out 4 enemies, 3 armored and one unarmored who hops. You can grab the hopping enemy and throw it at the cannons.

The boss has two other attacks. The first is pounding his hand down onto the platform, which unleashes a fire wave that circles the platform. You can jump over it. If it hits a hopping enemy it will kill it. If it hits an armored enemy that enemy will lose its armor and become a hopping enemy.

The second attack is his tongue, which he will launch out of his mouth and sweep back and forth across the platform. Jump over it to avoid it. Grab the hopping enemies, avoid the armored enemies and attacks, and throw hopping enemies into the screen to arm the cannons. After they are armed they will blast the boss and the second phase will begin. Note that the cannons take a little bit to fire so that you still need to dodge attacks for a few seconds after you have armed them. Note also that if you die you begin at whatever phase you were on but if you continue you have to start from the beginning.

Phase two you are on a long platform that tilts back and forth like a see-saw. The boss will launch a single enemy at the middle of the platform and it will run towards the end. There are four green crystals around the boss. You have to grab the enemy and throw them into the screen at the crystals, which are in pairs at either end of the platform (one high and one low for each pair.) The boss will shoot a pair of lasers from his eyes and sweep them back and forth over the platform. Dodge the lasers, grab the enemy (if you throw it or it runs off the platform a ew one will appear) and break the crystals. After the four crystals break a new crystal will appear moving randomly around the screen in the background. Break this twice and the phase ends.

The third and final phase has you on a set of colored platforms with gaps in between them around the boss. There will be two enemies, one armored who runs in a circle hopping between platforms and one unarmored who walks back and forth which you can grab. The boss has two main attacks, one where he makes a rainbow appear in a circle and shoots it out twice or three times in a row (you can jump over it) and one where he makes a platform temporarily disappear (he will do this two or three times in a row.) The goal here is to throw enemies into the cannons that are circling the boss below the platforms. You can do this at the gaps between the platforms or if the boss has made a platform temporarily disappear you can throw a enemy down into that gap. After you have gotten four of the cannons he will start shooting fireballs out that you have to dodge as they fall from the top of the screen onto the platform. Arm all 5 cannons as before and the boss is beaten!

This trophy is unlocked in Klonoa: Door to Phantomile.

Nahatomb is the seventh and final boss that you will fight against in the story as soon as you start Final Vision: The Dream at Nightmare's End ~In the Skies of Cress~ for the first time. Unlike previous bosses, this boss has three phases, each with completely different attack patterns and ways to fight against it.

Phase 1
This boss fight starts with Nahatomb shooting out Dark Moos from its back. One will be jumping around while three of them will have armor running at fast speeds.

Grab the one that's unprotected and aim it at one of the five cannons that are manned by the following characters:
  • Balue
  • Granny
  • Seadoph
  • The High Priest
  • The Moon Queen
You should also watch out for his attacks, which will consist of the following:
  • He will swing his tongue back and forth, which can easily be avoided by jumping over it before it reaches you.
  • He can also slam the ground to cause a ground wave with his fist. Like the first attack, you can avoid it by jumping and fluttering over it, but this depends on how well you time your jumps and flutters.
The latter attack can also be beneficial because it will remove the armor protecting the other three Dark Moos. When this happens, quickly grab any of the now-unprotected Dark Moos and throw them at the cannons when possible. Keep in mind that if there are still some of them left over, Nahatomb will create another ground wave to destroy whichever ones are left in the field.

Once all five cannons are ready, they will fire at Nahatomb and end the first phase. Which will result in him vacuuming Klonoa inside his mouth.

Phase 2
This phase of the battle takes place inside Nahatomb, which takes a completely different approach from the first phase.

The objective here is to destroy the shards that surround Nahatomb, but it should also be noted that the platform tilts up and down every so often on top of him shooting lasers from his eyes. During the first part of this phase, there are four shards you will need to throw a Dark Moo at while keeping his lasers and the tilting platform in mind.

Once the four shards have been destroyed, a fifth shard will appear and will move around throughout this half of the fight. Like before, be sure to avoid Nahatomb's lasers and keep the tilting platform in mind while you are aiming for this shard. Once you have destroyed this shard, the tilting platform will disappear and the fight will reach its final phase.

Phase 3
The third and final phase of this boss fight will have Nahatomb take on a completely new form.

Similar to the first phase of the fight, the objective here is to load the cannons, except this time, you will need to double jump off of a Dark Moo as they are now stationed below the arena. Keep in mind that there is another Dark Moo with armor running around on the field, but the one you need to grab is the one that's jumping around. Each of the cannons will flee away from the battle once they are loaded for the first time.

As far as attacks go, Nahatomb has a variety of them to use throughout this phase of the fight. All of them can be found below:
  • He can destroy each of the platforms Klonoa stands on by screaming at them. Klonoa can easily avoid this by jumping to the next platform, but keep in mind that it can scream at whichever platform(s) he stands on by the time he moves to that one.
    • This initially starts with two platforms being destroyed but will go up to four once four of the cannons have been loaded.
  • Like Rongo-Lango well before it, he can also create a rainbow shockwave ring as a means of attacking Klonoa while he's grounded.
    • Initially, he will start with creating two shockwave rings, but like the previous attack, he can do up to four of them.
  • Once four cannons are loaded, he can summon a volley of six fireballs that rain down on whichever platform(s) Klonoa is standing on.
Once all five cannons are loaded, the characters manning them will reappear and shoot at Nahatomb. Saving Lephise and destroying him once and for all while ending the nightmares that lurk within Phantomile.
