The description is a bit misleading.
You don't have to invite or play with any xbox friends for the achievement.
You must just be the host of an online game. I don't remember if it is for quick match or not, but you will play each mode anyways.
There is virtually no online activity for this game (even with cross play), so I would recommend double boxing or making a boosting session.
