You have two slots for Mazo Talismans by default. In order to unlock the other two slots, you will need to wait until you have the ability to upgrade Soh just like you can the villagers, which is earned after beating the boss Seethe at Moegi Ridge (Stage 6). Like Tsuba Guards, Mazo Talismans are typically equipped in the tent between stages but you also get a chance if you fail a stage or when you pick up new ones.

You will now need 60 Musubi to buy the remaining slots in the Soh upgrades. Earn Musubi by completing certain optional objectives, digging up black chests with the Thief and repairing certain objects in completed stages in the base mode. Once you have each slot unlocked, equip any talisman to it and complete any stage or boss battle. Obtaining more Mazo Talismans is mainly done by clearing each sub section of the stages of Defilement and taking them from the shrines. However, some are obtained by repairing items in the base , completing the first optional objective in a stage (once you've cleared a stage and can see the objectives, you can see which are for Musubi and which reward Talismans), opening certain chests/locked doors with the Thief or by beating each boss under the time it states
