Kill at least one bad guy with every gun.

How to unlock the Roscoe And Friends achievement in L.A. Noire - Definitive Guide

There are several weapons you always carry around. So they do differ from one another.

Colt Official Police:
Used on the Patrol cases. As pointed out by AHGreg: The tutorial level where you have to shoot the bank robbers. Drop the shotgun you hold by default will allow you to shoot with the Colt Official Police!

Colt M1911: From traffic desk and the entire game on playing as Cole Phelps.

Browning HP: Jack Kelso wears it during his cases in Arson.

12 Gauge Pump Action Shotgun : You use it in one of the first cases where you stop a bank heist. Cannot be missed.

Thompson M1A1: Like the Piano Gun, but minus the drum cartridge.

Thompson M1928 (Piano Gun) : Can be accessed through your car trunk. Like the M1A1, but with a drum cartridge.

BAR: You see these ones in the last Vice case, but can find one in A Polite Invitation when you raid Monroe's mansion. Also: In the final mission several can be found in Hoogenboom's ammo stashes.

M1 Garand: Uncommon weapon. You can however find one in the Nicholson Plating case, in the final part where you fight the soldiers and arrest Mapes.
One or two soldiers carry a M1 with them with enough ammo. Don't worry when you kill all soldiers outside, as there are 5 to 6 soldiers in the hangar to fight off.
To be more specific: I am 99% sure one of the soldiers coming out of the first car riding in carries a M1 Garand.

Edit: Another place where you could get a shot (haha!) at using and finding the M1 is the Fallen Idol case, during the final stretch where a bunch of mobsters enter the movie set. A lot of them carry the rifle with them.
Hoogenboom's stashes in the final mission seem to be another place where you can find one.

Flamethrower: Part of the final part of the game. Cannot be missed, as it's part of the story.
Edit: It seems it can be missed by some players. If you follow this video from 5:33 until 6:41 it will show you the location of the flame thrower. :)

I could have sworn I had multiple kills with every weapon but I realized finally it was the Colt Official Police Revolver I had not used. For anyone stuck, play the Patrol case Armed and Dangerous. When you start with the shotgun hold LB to drop it and then you'll have the sidearm.

Nice one AHGreg ... I was starting to think that my game was bugged out.

Thank you AHGreg! This was the only weapon I hadn't gotten a kill with. Very easy to miss the revolver kill since you start with a shogtun that can easily kill all the enemies on this Case.

I have tried absolutely everything, multiple kills with each weapon went back and used them all over and over again, still won't unlock, any ideas?

Are you really, really sure you used different weapons?
The Thompson and the Piano Thompson look very much alike if you look quickly.....
Also: The gun Kelso uses in the Arson cases is another gun than you use in most of the game.

If you ruled out you had all guns used: Try to check the stats in the Xbox dashboard. This helped me in getting some achievements I should have gotten but did not get for some strange reason.

Yup... it was the colt police one for me too. Although I replayed the level twice to make sure and it popped second time... so the enemies must have died from someone else shooting them the first time.

I know this might seem like a no brainer, but in Armed and Dangerous, you CAN pick the shotgun back up after dropping it so you can get credit for both guns in one location

I'd wager a sawbuck that the Rockstar devs laugh their butts off about this achievement. Why? Because of that early patrol case where you carry that six-shooter for only that short time but force you to have a shotgun. Geez. Thanks, AHGreg for the tip. If you complete the entire game and have to go back and replay "Armed & Dangerous" to get a kill with the six-shooter, it doesn't take long.

It was the BAR for me, it is obtainable in A Polite Invitation but it's held by one of your marine allies so they have to be dead and have dropped it.
I got it in the final mission, it's easily overlooked on the right box in the first armory room in the tunnels. The middle box has M1s and the left has a shotgun.

The Flamethrower is EASILY missable. Had to replay almost all of the Final mission. I don't think the walkthrough even mentioned to look for it.
It's not even easy to find, there are TWO armory rooms, the second armory room has it.

BTW the TA walkthrough is riddled with absolutely unnecessary text.
I don't need every goddamn cutscene summarized... it makes it tedious and hard to follow when all you want are clue locations and directions.
The other problem is that the 13 newspapers aren't bolded or noted clearly.

Thx for the solution

Was the Colt Official Police pistol for me as well! Based on the anecdotes here I'd suggest anyone coming here without knowing which one it is goes to "Armed and Dangerous" mission first, and remember to drop the shotgun.

Mine was the colt patrol pistol too! Can't believe I missed it I would of been certain I used it! Aside from that pistol (which seems to be a common miss) I think this one is easily done. Most enemies use heavy weapons as the game goes on, so just pick up anything that gets dropped and you should cover all of them easily.

There's a total of 8 guns you can use in L.A Noire. Most of them you'll find early on, but some will not be available until the final lot of cases, so make sure you grab them! To pick up a gun, simply walk over it and press .

Here's a list of all the guns and their locations:

  • Colt M1917l (Police Revolver)
    - Patrol Desk: Armed and Dangerous
Phelps is equipped with this as a Patrol Officer, the only opportunity to use it is during the bank shoot out in Armed and Dangerous. You have to drop the shotgun () to equip the sidearm. The handguns dropped by two of the robbers are snub versions of the same gun. Walking over them will give you ammo.

  • Star Model P (.45)
    Phelps' primary sidearm as detective

  • Ithaca 37 (Pump Action Shotgun)
    - Patrol Desk: Armed and Dangerous (Phelps starts with it)
    - Traffic Street Crime: Hotel Bandits (after car chase to parking garage)
    - Traffic Street Crime: Gangfight
    - Homicide Street Crime: Bank Job
    - Homicide Street Crime: Bowling Alley Robbery
    - Vice Desk: The Black Caesar (Finkelstein shootout)
    - Arson Desk: A Polite Invitation (Hall of Records shootout)
    - Arson Desk: A Polite Invitation (Leland Monroe’s Mansion shootout)
    - Arson Desk: A Different Kind of War (sewers during finale)

  • M1 Garand
    - Traffic Street Crime: Death From Above (single shooter on lower roof)
    - Arson Desk: A Different Kind of War (in the sewer during finale)

  • M1A1 Thompson (Tommy Gun)
    - Traffic Street Crime: Death From Above (two on the high roof)=

    - Vice Desk: The Black Caesar (Finkelstein shootout)
    - Arson Desk: A Polite Invitation (Hall of Records shootout)
    - Arson Desk: A Polite Invitation (Leland Monroe’s Mansion shootout)
    - Arson Desk: A Different Kind of War (sewers during finale)

  • M1 Thompson (Round Drum)
    - Vice Desk: Manifest Destiny (Hollywood Post Office shootout)
    - Vice Desk: Manifest Destiny (Meeting Place shootout)

  • Colt .45 (Jack Kelso's primary sidearm)
    - Arson Desk: A Polite Invitation (Hall of Records shootout)
    - Arson Desk: A Polite Invitation (Leland Monroe’s Mansion shootout)
    - Arson Desk: A Different Kind of War (in sewers at finale)

  • Browning Automatic Rifle M1918A1 (BAR)
    - Traffic Street Crime: Army Surplus (on ground to the left at start)
    - Arson Desk: A Different Kind of War (sewers during finale)
You'll find the BAR for the first time in campaign after climbing the ladder out of the water, there will be a storeroom to your right guarded by some goons.
    - Arson Street Crime, Cafe Holdup (one of four goons has it, usually on left)

  • M2 Flamethrower
    - Arson Desk: A Different Kind of War (in sewers, second weapon storage)
The only location of this weapon in the game. The storeroom is at the end of a long corridor guarded by goons. You'll come to this after descending a set of stairs.

Here's a list of all the guns and their locations:

  • .44 Magnum: This is your default gun while on the Patrol cases, though you'll only get to use it when on the 'Armed and Dangerous' mission. You'll start off with the shotgun, so simply drop it with and kill one of the robbers.
  • 12 Gauge Shotgun: Most of the criminals use this throughout the game! You'll start with it on the case 'Armed and Dangerous'.
  • Colt .45: This is your default gun when you get promoted to a detective. You'll get plenty of kills with it!
  • Thompson SMG: The Thompson is everywhere and the criminals carry them around as a default gun in many cases.
  • Tommy Gun (Rounded Ammo Barrel): These pop up once and a while, but you should come across some in the cases 'The Fallen Idol' and later on in the Arson cases when trying to get into Monroe's house. It sounds a little more louder than the Thompson.
  • M1 Garand: Same as the Tommy Gun. You'll first come across this in 'The Fallen Idol' case when fighting your way out of the theatre and later on in the final Arson case 'A Different Kind of War'.
  • Browning Auto-Rifle: You'll start to come across this while doing the Arson cases. A good place to pick it up is during 'A Different Kind of War'.
  • Flamethrower: This can only be grabbed in the final case 'A Different Kind of War'. While in the sewers you'll come across a storage room which holds a few weapons inside. You'll need to find the second one of these, which holds the flamethrower on top of a box.

You can use chapter select to get this trophy. There are only 9 guns in L.A Noire. Please see the spoiler tag for more info and locations. Thanks sdsodin for pointing out the extra gun. Also, here is a detailed mini guide that will help you find the locations of each weapon.

  1. Colt 38 – This is only available in the Armed and Dangerous case, when you are a Patrolman. You will need to drop the Shotgun to use it.
  2. Shotgun – This is given to you in the Armed and Dangerous case. You can just kill one person and then go back to the hand gun. to drop a weapon.
  3. Rifle – This is a single shot rifle that you will get during one of the case.
  4. Thompson – This can be found in many cases, but the first time you get to use this weapon is during ‘The Fallen Idol’ case while on the traffic desk. There are two versions (Drum & Stick).
  5. FN Browning -- Jack’s Pistol. You will need to just use this once and it will be logged as one kill.
  6. Flamethrower –This will be automatically picked up during the last mission. Only Jack will be able to use this and make sure you don’t drop the weapon until the trophy pops or you have at least one kill with it. Make sure to get at least one kill before reaching the end of the hallway after going up the ladder.
  7. Bar (Browning automatic rifle) – This can only be found in 3 different cases (Manifest Destiny, A Polite Invitation and A Different Kind of War).

Don't bother with the video. Only two weapons can be found in isolated cases: the Colt Patrolman and the Flamethrower (Written above where to get them) Just constantly raise your weapon, in street crimes it will all be there. 2 - Thomson machine gun, the only difference is that one has a classic round clip. M-1 Rifle, Shotgun and Machine Gun which will appear towards the end of the game.

It is not necessary to complete the job after killing with the necessary weapon(s), the trophy is cumulative.

As the game progresses, we kill at least one enemy using different weapons, which we select from them. There are also weapons in the story.

1. In patrol missions during a bank robbery, we kill one criminal with a shotgun, then we throw him and Philps takes out his Colt, available only in this mission.
2. In the very last mission of the arson department in the tunnels there will be a full arsenal of all kinds of guns, and almost at the very end you can find a flamethrower in one of the rooms.

Also in the mission "Polite Invitation" at the mayor's station, at the very beginning, there will be a dude with a Thompson with a round drum. There are two Thompsons in the game, one with a clip and the other with a drum.

You can also pick up a third Colt Detective Special pistol in the game (a modification of the Colt Police Positive Special revolver with a short barrel), it is not needed for the trophy . In the game, it often drops from killed enemies, but the main character only collects ammo from it. In the mission "House of Matches", after a fight with the bandits, Jack is thrown into the trunk, a cutscene occurs. During your escape, you need to get into the car and return to the criminal who is catching up with you. By knocking him down, you can pick up this pistol and kill the remaining enemies with it.

There was a bug with the trophy for kills with all weapons. It was hell. I did everything right 8 times in a row, and in the end, after an infinite number of attempts, I got this trophy after killing with a revolver on the first board (I did this, as I already said, 8 times). Maybe he got it wrong, because at first I scored on this trophy and got another, collective one, then I desperately returned to it, and it fell out. In general, I did not understand the criterion by which it did not fall and fell out, but maybe this information will be useful to someone, because I was already thinking about quitting the game)

Addition to flomikq's hint. After you kill with one of the weapons, DO NOT COME OUT! You have to wait until it’s saved, because it won’t count.
I followed the video guide above.

Before receiving the flamethrower, you can leave one of the three “comrades” in the corridor in front of the warehouse (this will be the second warehouse with weapons in the tunnels) alive. And then just run into the right side of the room, our hero will put on a flamethrower. And immediately test it on the “lucky” one.
If, before receiving the flamethrower, they had already killed the poor fellow, then (with the flamethrower on his back) after crossing the water to the other side (focus on the railing and do not waste ammunition), there will be another corridor with enemies who can easily be sent to barbecue.
