How to unlock the The City Of The Angels achievement in L.A. Noire - Definitive Guide

It is exactly the same list as for the 360 version, with a little twist.
To finish LA Noire for 100% you need at least:

26 story cases finished (the DLC cases in this version count too this time!)
40 street crimes solved
30 landmarks discovered
50 film reels collected
8 novels collected (NEW!)
20 records collected (NEW!)
95 cars found and entered
13 newspapers read

The novels and records are new and additional items to collect for the game. They are very easy to find with all of the available guides. I think I finished finding both in under an hour.
Finding both will also award you 100 gamerscore in total, both counting 3% towards the 100%.

Searching for the 20 shields is NOT required for the 100% !
Finding all of the outfits for the game is also NOT required, as the game has 4 new suits with perks.

Are there any collectables that can be completely missed? Like I know in some rockstar games some things are only able to be completed during story and if you miss it your screwed

Nope. You can get back in a mission any time you missed stuff like newspapers or clues.
(The only downside is that, say, a newspaper appears only at the end of a story mission, you have to play through the entire mission to get it. So following a guide here is a bit recommended)

No, the clues are not needed for the 100% achievement. 😀😀

The Remastered version DOES require the new collectibles to be completed also.

For 100% you need

26 Story cases (Star rating doesn’t matter for this achievement)
40 Street Crimes
30 Landmarks
50 Film Reels
8 Novels
20 Records
95 Vehicles
13 Newspapers

I haven’t given detailed guides as these collectibles all have their own achievements with some good guides on the sister sites.

There's a few things you need to do in L.A. Noire to get the full 100% and some will take a little while. Below is a list of what is needed to unlock this achievement:

  • Solve all 26 L.A. Noire cases
  • Complete all 40 Street Crimes
  • Read all 13 Newspapers
  • Find all 30 Landmarks
  • Find and enter all 95 different Cars
  • Find all 50 Film Reels
  • Find all 8 Novels
  • Find all 20 Records

The cases and street crimes are pretty straight forward. So these, along with the newspapers, should be the first things you complete. During this time you may (or should) be finding many different cars and entering them just to help that big counter along. After you've completed the game, move onto any remaining landmarks and then finally onto the remaining cars and the collectibles. The last things should be done in any of the case free roams.

There are 6 factors that contribute to reaching 100% game completion. The factors are: complete all story cases, all street crimes, collect all vehicles, collect all film reels, find all landmarks and newspapers. Below are the requirements for each factor and the percentage it contributes to 100% game completion. Use this link: Rockstar Social Club

  • Story cases -- 21 -- 57% (LINK)
  • Street Crimes -- 40 -- 15% (Credit to Resolute for this) (LINK)
  • Vehicles -- 95 -- 15% (LINK)
  • Film Reels -- 50 -- 7% (Credit to Resolute for this) (LINK)
  • Landmarks -- 30 -- 3% (Credit to Resolute for this) (LINK)
  • Newspapers -- 13 --3% (Credit to Resolute for this) (LINK)

Story Cases can take anywhere from 45 mins to 1.5 hours depending on whether cutscenes are skipped. Each desk will have 3 to 6 cases that need to be completed before progressing to the next. A Five star case rating is NOT required for this factor, simply complete the case.

Street Crimes are desk-specific and are easiest to complete during free roam of the corresponding desk. Street crimes are listed in 3 different colours: Red= need to complete; Yellow= currently working on it; White= completed and can be replayed at will. In free roam you can select the destination of the street crime and have your partner drive you there to save time and complete the case. See The Long Arm of the Law for full information.

Vehicles are found throughout the map and certain vehicles are more prominent in specific locations on the map. The vehicles are sub-categorized into 6 categories: 2-door (25), 4-door (19), sports (8), police (9), service (19), hidden (15). See Auto Fanatic for their locations.

Film Reels are gold in colour and the hardest to find because they are very small. See Hollywoodland for all their locations.

Landmarks - There are 30 hidden landmarks around the city. Driving close to any of these adds it to the map. Finding all 30 landmarks will gain you 3%. See Star Map for more information.

Newspapers are easiest of all the factors and can be found during the natural course of game progression through the department desks. There are a total of 13 newspapers and provide a sort of behind the scenes story to the game. Newspapers cannot be found while in free roam. Here is a picture that shows where they are found and what case they can be found on.

There's a few things you need to do in L.A. Noire to get the full 100% and some will take a little while. Below is a list of what is needed to unlock this achievement:

  • Solve all 21 L.A. Noire Cases
  • Complete all 40 Street Crimes
  • Read all 13 Newspapers
  • Find all 30 Landmarks
  • Find and enter all 95 different Cars
  • Find all 50 Film Reels

The cases and street crimes are pretty straightforward. So these, along with the newspapers, should be the first things you complete. After you've completed the game, move onto any remaining landmarks and then finally onto the remaining cars and the 50 film reels. The last three things should be done in any of the case free roams.

In addition to those achievements for which trophies are given: plot , street affairs , films , landmarks , cars , novels , records , the game has another important section of statistics for which a separate trophy is not given, but the percentages are plus: these are newspapers , which can be viewed fully understand the plot of the game (in the last case there will be as many as two newspapers). There are only 13 of them and they are all found exclusively in cases when inspecting places with evidence. In prominent places, so you're unlikely to miss it. You just need to pick it up and “read”.
**PS There is one more collective element in the statistics for which trophies do not count: police badges. There are 20 of them , all located near attractions. For collecting they give you a suit with increased ammunition, but nothing else. I checked - they don’t add interest!

For 100% completion, you also need to collect 8 short stories and 20 gold records from the DLC.

I would like to note that for platinum there is no need to collect 20 police badges!!!
In your Social Club , to which you previously linked your Sonya account in order to track your progress and get a couple of costumes for it, you can check everything! There is “Progress” and there is “Tracker” , it’s second to you! There you will find an interactive map for searching for collectible goodies, and you will see the percentage of completion, and you will see the number of collected items, and the number of remaining ones. A very convenient thing!
For 100% completion you need to collect: short stories, newspapers, movies, records, attractions, transport and everything! It’s not worth complicating your life by searching for 20 more badges. Only if you really want it)))
