How to unlock the Hollywoodland achievement in L.A. Noire - Definitive Guide

There are 50 gold film reels in the game. None of them is missable and all gold film reels are immediately save after you pick it up. I recommend to collect the gold film reels in free roam mode, you can enter this mode after you complete a desk (except patrol) from the main menu. Select cases then a complete desk and scroll down to "The streets of L.A.." This is the free roam mode.

Under "Film Reels " you can see how many and which gold film reels you have already collected (map). The map from L.A. shows you also the locations but for many collectibles the map is really inaccurate. You should use the map then rather as a clue.

A Note, I collect in my video from north to south.

Glitched for me. I've got all 50 and 100% the game but this achievement didn't pop.

**OK so I managed to get it unlocked. I started a new game (which keeps all your progress) and just played around with quitting the game and starting new one etc. It finally popped when I fully exited them game, back to dashboard, then restarted

There are 50 film reels locations to be found. Once you find them all you will unlock Hollywoodland Trophy / Achievement.

There's a total of 50 film reels scattered throughout L.A Noire. Your best bet to finding these is to leave them until last. They're spread all over the city, so go into a free roam session and start looking.

Also, if you have an IPhone or ITouch, you can download/purchase the LA Map application, which shows the location of all films and cars.

The video is good and very useful, but it’s not always clear where our fellow guide starts from. Sometimes the map shows that he left the car in one place, but he himself is somewhere off to the side. The advice is this: having arrived at the place and not finding any landmarks visible in the video, look at the video where it stands - what the radar shows, then look for this place on the map more precisely and go there - the landmarks should be found.
I highly recommend collecting all the films at the beginning of the game, this will give a good increase in level, access to new costumes and more intuition points!
